  1. I doubt the Skins would give up more than a 1st. When they signed Coles as a RFA, the said that if the Jets had tendered him at a 1st and 3rd round pick they wouldn't have gone after him.
  2. Don't trust anyone. My standard line is "no offense, it's not that I don't trust you; I don't trust anyone."
  3. Bad move. Usually the "my insurance will go up" stories end up screwing you. With no fault on your part (except for parking on the street), you were well within your right to at least call the cops.
  4. I think it's semantics about who drafted him. I'm sure that GW wanted Clements badly back in 2001 and as a DC knows the value of a good CB. He also knows Snyder is stupid enough to give up a pick(s) and money for a good CB. I think the scenario is entirely plausible. As for whether to do the deal or not, that would take more info. It would depend on what Nate wants, what he was offered, and if the Bills have any intention of paying one player all that money after paying a lot for MW. I also don't think that people saying this is a weak draft means that the Bills can't get a good player at #9, or even a few spots later.
  5. Possibly, but that's a HUGE chunk of money. Unless TD can get Nate to agree to an extension NOW, with a slight hometown discount, I say do the deal, draft a CB fairly early, and take your chances. Again as I mentioned above, hopefully Kevin Thomas and/or Jabari Greer are factors.
  6. Don't count-out Kevin Thomas or Jabari Greer.
  7. Better quit that before we have to call you OneLung.
  8. Younger, has more good years left in him, and the potential to be better.
  9. Face it peeps, Nate will command/demand a GIGANTIC salary and signing bonus next year as an UFA, and the Bills WON'T give it to him. I doubt he'll offer a hometown discount, or enough to make a difference. So do the deal, look to trade down with the Skins' pick, and get a CB somewhere early but NOT at #9 (you'd basically be paying him close to what Nate would demand), while shoring up other areas.
  10. TD's 2001 draft: 1 21 Nate Clements 2 46 Aaron Schobel 2 58 Travis Henry 3 76 Ron Edwards 3 95 Jonas Jennings 4 110 Brandon Spoon 5 144 Marques Sullivan 6 178 Tony Driver 6 195 Dan O'Leary 6 196 Jimmy Williams 7 214 Reggie Germany 7 238 Tyrone Robertson The first 5 picks plus Jimmy Williams are still in the NFL and all (except Williams who left the Bills after 2001 and was a productive DB and ST'er for the 49'ers) are will be starters this year (assuming Travis gets traded).
  11. Doesn't matter. Who do you think your MIL will think put your wife, her daughter that you "stole" and corrupted (I'm projecting), up to it? You don't need a lousy influence life her in your daughter's life, and the cigarette thing is scary.
  12. There's no rule to say you have to close the dome during bad weather, unless as I said, it's dangerous for the fans and players.
  13. Day 2 picks rarely stick around PERIOD, especially after a regime change. What are they? As a backup CB on the cheap, he probably would.
  14. So you MIL needs all three of the things I mentioned. She's got deep-seated psych problems. Probably best to suggest seeing a shrink and/or keeping her out of your life.
  15. As I stated above, Jones has freakish athletic ability. A guy with his potential only comes along every so often.
  16. Sarcasm noted and true to a point. However I don't think anyone outside of those 2 teams would take Jones with a 1st rounder, and are ABLE to spend a 1st round pick on a gamble like him. That is what I see as being the difference in the usual not-tipping-your-hand MO. I haven't heard about injury problems or lack of desire, but if true, those would be red flags. As for the guys you mentioned, they had other knocks on them and were expected to play the position they played in college in the pros. Projecting Jones to play WR with his freakish ability is different. And Randle-el was drafted in the 2nd round, despite also being a college QB and having no experience at WR. Jones just has freakish abilities, which is why he'll go higher.
  17. Uh, Bannan, Pucillo, and Thomas were 5th rounders or later. Williams will likely be around and Thomas may be as well. Reed probably is a goner if he doesn't get his act together.
  18. One of the big problems that I alluded to above is that the owners don't want league-wide revenue sharing, and want a salary cap tied to percentage of EACH team's revenue. That won't fly. The owners need to smarten-up and look at what the NFL did and is doing, although the NFL seems to be facing some issues with their CBA. They're already taking spots away from AMERICAN players in the WHL (I think that's the league).
  19. I don't know about insanity, and I think a 1st rounder is way too much, but it's a worthwhile gamble IMHO for a 2nd rounder.
  20. It's looking more and more like either the Steelers or Eagles will take a gamble and draft Matt Jones with their 1st round picks. And if they don't do it, the Bears will with their 38th overall pick. The Bills might get the Cards' 44th overall in the Travis trade, but they'd need to pony up a LOT to move up enough to get him. So better to look for another TE. If Heath Miller were to somehow drop to #44 (because of injury concerns), I'd take him assuming he is cleared by a doctor. If not, I'd take that Adam Bergen guy in the early/late 3rd after trading down.
  21. I guess there was nothing to gain politically from pulling the plug on his own father. Tom DeLay is a joke of a politician, if not human being.
  22. What about Robert Blake? Where's the outrage THERE? And that just happened last month.
