Kevin Thompson - Bills QB in NFL Europe
MadBuffaloDisease replied to BillsFaninNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Warner, Brad Johnson, Jake Delhomme, Moorman, Vinatieri, and a couple other kickers. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. -
Kevin Thompson - Bills QB in NFL Europe
MadBuffaloDisease replied to BillsFaninNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. However QB, kicker, and punter (and no other positions) are positions that have been successfully developed in NFLE. It's a longshot Thompson will be anything more than a 3rd stringer, but there's still a use for him in that capacity. -
Kevin Thompson - Bills QB in NFL Europe

He's got 2 TD's passing and 2 TD's rushing, and no INT's. And apparently his WR's have been dropping a lot of passes. Oh yeah and his team is 3-0. It's too bad he wasted-away with the Browns for 3 years and then under Killdrive last year. -
No the coaching staff wasn't responsible for him adding muscle; they were the reason why the Pats "kicked [our] behinds year in and year out." But to revisit the steroid issue, harken back to Haslett's comments about a "all-time great" player for the Bills, who was told he wouldn't make the team without adding weight to get above 300#. Reportedly that player was Kent Hull, who denied it; but whomever it was, I doubt Haslett was lying because he didn't have a book to sell and was one of the elder statesmen of the team. And when Willis was asked recently in an interview what he thought about the crackdown on steroids, his reply was "well they let them get away with it before, what's changed?" And again, a big knock on Brady was him being so light. Sure it's speculation, but to totally dismiss it is fanciful.

Clements for a #9? Take it TD!!!!!!!!
MadBuffaloDisease replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again as I said, the CB market will be weak next year, and Nate will be the top CB entering UFA. Also given the weakness of the draft and the fact that the Bills most likely won't be able to trade out of the 9th spot, it's better to keep Nate at his low salary (for a Pro Bowl CB) for the year, franchise him, and trade him for a 1st, maybe more, next year. This coming season will be a contract year and he should be playing lights-out. However if the Skins offer more than the 9th overall, I might have to rethink this. -
Atleast Now I know Mike Williams is back in town
MadBuffaloDisease replied to zevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully his family stays healthy now, and for the foreseeable future. -
No, the rational explanation was his coaching staff. And you're awfully (ridiculously?) certain Brady never took steroids. Hell I believe ANY player, even a Bills player, could be using steroids. But naw, Brady would NEVER use steroids. It certainly flies in the face of the Pats' motto of "doing whatever it takes to win."

Could there be collusion between two teams?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. Cigarettes don't kill. -
As if being a Boston fan wasn't ENOUGH of a reason to be shot! The other reason it might not get done is because of the reasons I mentioned earlier. The FA CB class is weak next year, which would make Nate the top CB available. The Bills can get a year out of him for a decent salary, franchise him, and trade him for MORE than just the (value of the) 9th overall pick, in what should be a stronger draft (but as per usual, not for CB's). For me it would take a lot more from the Skins to pry Nate away this year.

I think I've maybe watched (part, not all of) one SNL episode this year. Brady hosting tonight made me want to avoid it all the more.

Better than Joe Montana did!

Steroids? I saw a commercial on ESPN for the draft talking about how "the draft matter" and talked about him being a skinny 6th round pick, and then all of a sudden he put on enough weight. Hmmm.

Tillman - more respect deserved
MadBuffaloDisease replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Giving up what Pat Tillman did was incredibly admirable. It's a tragedy that he got killed, by friendly fire no less. -
Bills could get a really good DT prospect later
MadBuffaloDisease replied to mary owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Speaking of McKinnie, who has been a major disappointment so far, do you think that when he made the comments about not wanting to go to Buffalo, that he'd end up in Minnesota? Idiot. -
A summary of the last few days of trade talks
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Always said you were a youth quaker, [TD]. A stormy little world shaker..." I don't know about a world shaker, but it certainly would be a draft shaker if TD did that. I would be very happy with that scenario, provided the Bills traded down from #9. -
Kiper say good chance Losman would be #1 overall
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If LeFors is gone by the 5th, I'd take a flyer on Orlovsky. -

MadBuffaloDisease replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's probably relative to the draft year. Last year was a strong draft year, this year is weak. Also Kiper has had a chance to see Losman as a pro. -
I gotta fevah...and the only prescription...is more draft picks!

I see the interest in Henry is picking up

Maybe, maybe not. Have you SEEN some of the newly-teen girls these days? Frightening how old they look! -

MadBuffaloDisease replied to todd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Opinions are like...well, you know. I guess some see value in a guy who averaged almost 1,400 yards and 12 TD's in back-to-back seasons, who is a decent but unspectacular receiver, who plays hurt, is a team player, and has worked-on and improved in the area of fumbling, but who sucks at pass-blocking. -
Would Losman be the number 1 pick this year?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're guesses. I'm sure Leaf was a 98 or something. Like I said above, JP is the best QB prospect the Bills could have taken in last year's or this year's draft, without sacrificing a LOT more than a 2nd and 5th rounder, not to mention salary. -

Fug the swap of 2nd rounders. The value of that is a high 4th round pick and would have been a good deal a few days ago. Now the price has gone up considerably -

It was hardly "clear" at the time. Hell there was a lot of discussion on the board about whether Travis crossed the line, and I recall being the only one who was adamant about him having done so. But in any case, he's relying on his coaches upstairs who have seen the replays. A veteran DB should know to knock the ball down. The direct responsibility is the positional coach's, and there is some debate as to whether Jimmy Smith pushed-off on Clements on that particular play. Hardly reason to hang MM because he wasn't on the field to mess-up those plays, just like he didn't cause Villarrial to hold (or not) on that crucial 3rd down run by Willis that would have sealed the game and made that final drive moot. BTW, those were MM's first 2 games as a HC. Kind of harsh to judge him based on those, but I guess it goes with the territory since you're calling JP a bust based on his limited time last year. Me I'm not convinced JP will be great, but I'm willing to give him a chance and be optimistic about him. The bottom line is there was and IS no better prospect that the Bills would have had a chance to take in last year's or this year's draft, since Smith and Rodgers will be gone in the top 5, and I don't think too much of them anyway, much less the rest of the QB's this year. I like that JP has all the physical tools, seems to have the attitude and work ethic, having put-in lots of hours working in Buffalo this off-season, and will be working with a legendary QB coach.
