With the defense that the Ravens had that year, probably half the second string QBs in the league could have gotten a ring. Not to bash Dilfer, but, the Ravens' defense that year carried the offense on it's back.

Rule number one in the draft: NEVER say NEVER when it comes to a crap shoot like the NFL draft. Several years ago the same was said of Mckinney. It was this time of year when he was the next Jonathan Ogden or Orlando Pace. After further study, there were those that had their doubts, the Bills included. If the Jets take Cutler, he could easily slip several spots. The Packers likely will go Defense, The Raiders have Gallery, and SF signed Jonas Jennings. He could fall like a D'Brick!

Donahoe spent when we had the money to spend. Spikes did not come cheap, but we had more money to spend that year. I think last year they banked on Edwards filling William's shoes and it failed. Keeping Williams would have probably been the right thing to do but would that have made us a playoff team? I tend to doubt it. He may have been trying to keep some cap space for a player that could have come available later. We were one of the few teams that could afford Lawyer Milloy when NE cut him late in the year. Hind site is always 20-20. Where Donahoe failed the most was in picking his coaches.
