  1. Shouldn't Jauron be in Mobile rubbing elbows with other coaches? For that matter, shouldn't Levy be there? Most of those drafted are at the workouts this week. There is some early info at gbnreport.com.
  2. I hear he is a real fart smeller...err smart feller
  3. I'm sorry, but that was not a good read. Sounds like a TBD poster changing sites.
  4. A guy walks into a bar.....What does he say? Ouch.
  5. I agree. When I read some of the stuff that was written by his past players, it was quite positive. The guy went to Yale. He is not stupid. I have confidence that he will give us a good D. I'm crossing my fingers that he has a quality OC waiting in the wings. Sometimes it just takes a new setting for a coach to really shine. What bugs me is that most of the fans, and media alike, think they know more than the guys in charge.
  6. I really don't see us starting out very well next year, unless a whole lot of things fall in our favor. Will we be able to get some good free agents? Will Levy, Jauron, and Modrak be able to hit a home run in the draft? We have some good players on this team and that is a BIG plus. Will TKO return to form? Personally, I wouldn't mind a switch back to the 3-4. We have good LB and if we get a big run-plugger in here, our defense could again be very good. Our special teams will be good, if we keep April. I hope we get a creative OC. Who knows? Maybe we will look back on this in a couple years and be thankful that "the most sexy choice" wasn't chosen.
  7. Ralph wanted him when TD chose MM. Levy has always praised the guy. He is not flashy and may not be the fan favorite, but may just be what is needed in Buffalo. It is quite funny reading all of this "insider information" poop over the past few days. Face it folks, we don't need insider information. All you had to do was read the writing on the wall. It was there the minute Levy came back to town. When Levy was hired way back in the 80s I had kind of a ho hum feeling. We all know that turned out well. Maybe Jauron will thrive in a setting such as this. He has been respected by people that matter. It is going to be critical that he surround himself with good people. I sure hope the guy can attract good assistant coaches, especially a top notch offensive coordinator. We shall see. At least the guy has a little history in Buffalo. My fear is that the fans and media alike will never give this guy a fair shake. Sullivan is probably already writing a toxic scathing article about the choice for the AM Buffalo News. There are problems on this team that are going to take time to fix. My fear is that everyone will be calling for his head if there isn't instant success. Lets see how things develop before we try to throw the guy under the bus.
  8. People are forgetting the soon to be hall of famer Walt Cory. He was a coaching master. Took us to the superbowl with the likes of no talent bums like Smith Bennett, Talley, Conlan, Odoms and the like.
  9. Is that a young Haloti Ngata in your avatar?
  10. Losing Mangini is likely going to hurt the Pats. They lose there DC two years in a row. Remember, they started slow and came on later in the season, probably in part due to Mangini getting better. Making the jump to head coach, however, takes time. I wouldn't expect to much next year. Besides, you just never know if a 34 yr old coach is going to muster the respect that Edwards had. Miami, however is going to be better. They have momentum and NS is a very good coach. I'm not convinced that Buffalo is going to be in the basement. There were teams this past year that surprised me. I didn't think L. Smith would do that well in Chicago. Carolina also surprised me this year. Many thought Minnesota would be better. Often, there is not a huge difference between teams in the NFL and a lot can change in a year. We have some very good players. If Levy and Modrak can work some magic in free agency and the draft, we may be better than you think. The key will be hiring a well respected, experienced coach who can surround himself with good assistants. Give me someone who will fit well in Buffalo. I'm not interested in someone trying to move up the ladder by a short stint in Buffalo. He has to actually like upstate NY and fit in. Coaching in Buffalo is a tough job. He is going to have to be tough and have thick skin. Is he out there? Lets hope Levy can find him!
  11. I'm sure TKO would love that. We had one of our best defenses when he was here. Question is, could he bring in good assistant coaches and does he like Buffalo. He might be leary based on the canning of Dohahoe and Mularkey.
  12. I dont think that "retaining" a coach is set in stone. A new coach could release them if he wants. It simply keeps them here until a decision is made. They are not able to sign with another team unless the bills say so.
  13. Fischer is under contract. Second, who says he is the least bit interested in the job?
  14. WB was know as a defensive master. He won Superbowls as a DC. Haslett, my friend, is no Belichick!
  15. Bentley will go where he gets paid the most jack.
  16. Sounds like a Levy kind of guy. If continuity is the goal, then Jerry Gray may be the choice. Unless Ralph is pulling strings, I don't think Haslett is a Levy kind of hire. We shall see.
  17. That would be a bummer. We have outstanding special teams.
  18. I think it will truly be Prozak time. Seriously, Unless Levy saves the day and goes out and gets a top notch guy who will bring with him a top notch staff, we are up the creek. If he could coax a guy like Kurk Ferentz out of Iowa, that would be great. Unfortionately, He recommitted today to stay at Iowa. We need a top guy that assistant coaches would be dying to come join. Haslett is not that guy. Sure, he is a former bill and would welcome a return to Buffalo, but he is not the type of guy who is going to draw excellent assistants. Just look, his OC the past year was none other than Mike Sheppard. We know what he did under GW. Please Marv, don't hire Haslett!!!!!!!!
  19. I agree. The media, and fan base for thgat matter, have been downright abusive toward Mularkey. They were the same with Williams, and I fear will be the same with anyone who comes here and doesnt win right off the bat. You have A$$wipes like Sullivan in the media who are always trying to manipulate the bills into making certain moves. Look at his last article pressing for Cotrell for DC. He is a little twit that has an open forum to sling crap and make "Dawgged" suggestions. Buffalo has a single media outlet in The Buffalo News and seldomly is anything uplifting generated from that rinky dink paper. Mularkey was not my choice for coach at the time. I wanted Weis, but that is beside the point. My point is that Buffalo is going to have a hard time selling itself to the top available coaches, and that, my fellow Bills fans, is a real bummer!
  20. A coach who will surround himself with top notch people. I hope Marv will make sure of that. Hopefully Marv can do what Donahoe couldn't, and that is pick the right guy. Unfortionately, there are a bunch of openings this year, and quite frankly, Buffalo is not the most attractive place to live. Guys like Cotrell are an easy hire because nobody is fighting for their services. I hope Levy doesn't go on the cheap and hire the low budget guy to please Ralph.
  21. Without a doubt, Donahoe's biggest fault was his inability to pick the right coach.
  22. Thanks fezmid. That was a trip down memory lane.
