The NFL’s current sack leader was once cut and put on a practice squad. The practice squad does not equate to “talentless,” or “inferior to ALL players on the 53.” The squad is simply an avenue for those who have not yet reached their potential, or just haven’t been afforded an opportunity (whether that’s because of numbers, politics, or whatever). There are ample practice squad players around the league that will be regular contributors once they get their shot, so to demean these guys’ skills is silly.

Josh Allen - Accuracy on the Long Ball
Brand J replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was missing on his deep balls versus air at his pro day, so I’m not surprised he’s missing them when 300 pound dudes are trying to sack him. That’ll be the next skillset he needs to develop. -
What if You Could Bring 1 Player Back - Who would it Be ?
Brand J replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jason Peters. Dawkins is a good LT, but not a great. Still gets beat too much for my liking. 2nd choice would be an Eric Moulds in his prime. -
Eight sacks for the Steelers. EIGHT! They only had six on the season coming into this game. Meanwhile we were struggling to get to Dalton. Only 3 QB hits all game.

This is how the Bills should’ve embarrassed Cincinnati at home.

Josh's foot work in the first qtr - Woof
Brand J replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As others have said, I can’t totally fault Allen for not seeing Gore’s defender slip because his primary read on the play was Zay Jones... and he had him. The problem is Allen held the ball. Off of play action, he looks to Zay, sees the safety isn’t in position to break up the pass, so he had to let it go right then. Zay obviously had separation (or was on his way to getting it) which makes the decision to launch an anticipatory throw all the better. Throw the ball to a spot, let him run under it. Would Zay have made the catch? Now that’s debatable. -
QB Minshew is a gamer. Jags lucked out on that find.

Zay Jones blocking ability - I’m impressed

Nate Geary is having a 20 min rant (and counting) on Zay Jones ? -

On EIGHT targets, all Zay Jones could muster was 2 receptions for 4 yards. 2 INTs in his vicinity. I’m ready to turn the page on him as well. -
Don’t think Bodork saw it since he was focused on the low snap, but whenever a blocker abandons all responsibility on the outside like that, you’d like to see a pass to the gunner, or a swift run around the corner. At the VERY least, you gotta motion the gunner in for added protection.

And Tom Brady’s very public voice of displeasure can be thanked for that. Riveron held a meeting with the refs shortly after that Thursday night game and the holding calls were drastically reduced by Sunday. What Brady wants, Brady gets. Matt Chatham had an article in The Athletic highlighting a few of Allen’s scrambles. You guys are correct, he doesn’t need to run because he’s got open receivers when he takes off. His 13 scrambles on the year are second to Lamar Jackson. As the season progresses hopefully we’ll see him run less and hit those open players. He’s still learning.

247Sports did a blackout of every team’s jersey. Are you affiliated with them? Or just borrowed from their model?

Horrible Harry (Harrison Phillips) out for the year...ACL
Brand J replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need to stop this fallacy that Star is absorbing double teams every time he’s in the lineup, thus allowing others to make plays. Truth is he’s in primarily on run downs and is single blocked far more often than doubled. He doesn’t do anything with the 1:1 opportunities either, just kinda finds himself “in the way.” When he is doubled, it’s by play design, not because he’s disruptive. He offers nothing there either. There’s a reason he averages 1 tackle per game since about the 3rd year he’s been in the league. He’s just not active enough. Hopefully Jordan Phillips plays well enough to lessen the blow of losing a DT like Harrison. -
Bills RTs: 100% Pass Block Score
Brand J replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you’re referring to the play Nsekhe fell on his butt seconds after the snap, it wasn’t a pancake. I’ve watched that play 3 or 4 times trying to figure out why he fell, but I could only guess his foot got stepped on. He went down without a lineman touching him. -
Josh Allen's "awful" 1st half...THIS is the article to read
Brand J replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ask the Jets if they’d be willing to trade Sam Darnold and Quinnen Williams for Josh Allen and Ed Oliver straight up, right now. To me, Darnold is Dalton-Lite, Allen looks like much more of a gamer. Oliver seems to be a more disruptive DT and already had Jets fans wishing they had picked him. I know it’s early, but I’d laugh at that trade if I were the Bills. -
Was the O Line Good, Bad, Or Indifferent in Game 1?
Brand J replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Feliciano reminds me of Incognito. I know the Raiders had a pro bowl guard at one spot, but it seems like he should’ve been good enough to hold down the other. Not sure why he wasn’t starting in OAK. It’s a nice (and foreign) problem to have too many OL that are capable of starting! -
Antonio Brown RELEASED, signed by PATS
Brand J replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s simple: due to the history of this country, people will always be more sympathetic/willing to look the other way if a black man calls a white man a “cracker.” When a white man calls a black man a “n!gger,” there’s weighted history there. A dark period in this nation’s past. A slur is a slur and neither one is right, but since the white man has never been oppressed like their colored counterparts, the derogatory slurs will never receive the equal reaction you’re looking for. -
I wonder if the Bills are having any buyer’s remorse. Star is strictly a “space eater” and a small one at that (6’2” 315). He averages about 1 tackle per game. His backup, Harrison Phillips, was much more productive, stats wise, in fewer reps. Mount Washington, all 6’5 365 pounds of him, was truly a space eater and managed to average over 3 tackles per game. I heard the Bills are starting to group Jordan Phillips more often with Ed Oliver. He is actually a bigger body than Star. I wonder as the season progresses if Jordan proves to be more valuable than the 7th highest paid DT. We shall see!

Who's Most Responsible for Pats* Dynasty: Brady or Belichick?
Brand J replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Belichek isn’t throwing those clutch passes on the field. There’s only so much a coach can do, the players have to execute and he has arguably the greatest of all time at the most important position on the field. Some will point to Belichek’s 13-6 record without Brady and I’d say that sort of success wouldn’t be sustainable. I’d use his record as head coach prior to Brady taking the field to support my argument. -

Anyone else hear the report about the Ravens failed trade up? Happened during the draft where Minnesota missed their pick. Two teams ran to the podium and selected players, the Vikings picked a couple slots later than they were scheduled. The hang up? Minnesota had worked out a trade with the Ravens, the Ravens intended to take Byron Leftwich. Some complications nullified the trade, so Minnesota was late to the podium. The Ravens had to stay at 10 and draft a player at their original slot. They missed out on Leftwich and “settled” for Terrell Suggs. Moral of then story - don’t trade up! Especially for a non QB. -
Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal

For what it’s worth, he was graded as “below average” by PFF. The #37 center. https://www.profootballfocus.com/nfl/players/spencer-long/8713
