  1. I know. It would add up to right around the league average.
  2. But wait...i thought the NFLPA was no longer a union? This simply shows that their "decertification" was a complete sham, organized by their idiotic leader, De Smith.
  3. This is exactly why the NFL shoudl win the court case and have the decertification declared a sham.
  4. There's no way another league would be able to support more than 1 or 2 superstars, due to salary structure and the simple fact it would take billions of dollars to get another realisticly competitive league started. Do you think that Peyton Manning (or any other high profile player) is going to play for the Las Vegas Locomotives for 200k per year? hell no. Do you think Peyton Manning is going to play for the Las Vegas Locomotives for $5 million per season, but play behind 5 OL making 50k per year? Hell no. Do you think that the Las Vegas locomotives are all of a sudden going to be able to afford a ton of high salaries? Hell no. For the big time NFL players, its the NFL or nothing. And unfortunately, because of De Smith's arrogance, ignorance, and jackassery, these players (and others) will eventually come crawling back to the NFL and accept a worse deal that what they could have gotten had they tossed that asshat to the side of the road and negotiated in good faith, without an ultimate intention to decertify.
  5. Nope. I'm being proactive this year, and instead of paying them back, i'm banking this hour so i can use it next fall. Can't remember on the spring ahead, but my dad used to work for USAirways on the 11pm-7am shift, and during fall behind they got 9 hours pay for the 9 hours worked. No OT, just a straight 9 hours. But since they were union, i'm guessing they got paid the full 8 hours for the 7 hours of work on the spring ahead.
  6. I enjoyed lunch with you. We'll have to do it again.
  7. NFL fans will easily fill the stands with replacements, or if the NFLPA was disbanded and if 1,000 new players filled the rosters. Look at how many fans college ball draws, and the skill level there is significantly lower. Also, were the pats* struggling to fill seats when Brady was out for the season? Nope.
  8. This post should be highlighted and pinned. Post of the year, and best post about the CBA/labor situation i've aeen.
  9. And what you fail to understand is that the salary cap si necessary for the health of the league. It ensures that there will be the most money across the board for all teams/players. If the salary cap all of a sudden goes up to $200 million, what good is that if only jerruh and danny-boy can spend to it? That would upset competitive balance and riun the integrity of the league. Why does the NFL do so much better than baseball? Because in the NFL, and its cap and rules, each team has a legit shot to win a title every single year. In the MLB, there are what, maybe 8-10 teams out of 30 that have a realistic chance of winning it all. Sure, let the players, sue and get the cap removed. We'll how well their constituency likes it when there's also no salary floor and the jags spend $30 million total to field a team of 53 players.
  10. Because De Smith is an ignorant asshat who is making this all about himself, not the players. This jerkoff wants to make a name for himself, and unfortunately for the NFL players, he's using them as pawns for his shameless self-promotion. It was never his intent to bargain, it was always his intent to take this to courts so he could look like a big shot if he "won." The owners included the clause to opt out during the last CBA agreements. The players had no problem with that concession when they signed it (because all they saw were dollar signs), so why is there a problem with the owners using a perfectly legal clause in the contract? If the players didn't want the owners to opt out, they should have fought against that clause.
  11. Yes you can, but the teams have to be from the same city/market.
  12. Robert Quinn is the definition of a one-year wonder. His only good performance was in 2009. Also, another big flag is that he stockpiled sacks in games against weaker opposition. Too many red flags for me.
  13. Nothing to see here, move along. Meriweather will get an 8 game suspension reduced to 2 games after he demonstrates "good behavior" over the summer, as per the usual for the good teams.
  14. while i agree with a lot of what you said, i've never seen a 1pm start time game last until after 5, unless it goes deep into OT. The latest i've ever seen a regulation game finish was about 4:20pm.
  15. If peterson falls, you take whomever is left between Fairley, Bowers, or Dareus.
  16. LDS is the name of Lou Gherig's disease. I'm not sure why it belongs in a basketball discussion.
  17. Gotta go with thin mints or Tag-alongs. The only problem is now each box has about 4 cookies in it.
  18. You meant to leave out the "R"? what the hell is an acist?
  19. That was a moronic move. If you are going to have new jerseys, what a better way to let the world see it than by handing it to your first round pick? (Especially when you are picking so high, before all the hot pocket mouth breathers have changed the channel)
  20. The consensus on NFL network seemed to be that the extension was just to give them enough time to work on a longer extension, something like a week. I still doubt anything gets done, and i doubt they are that close.
  21. I'm not going to get into an argument about his play with someone who has zero interest in having a reasonable discussion about his play, and is content to blame all the secondary issues on him. Wherever he signs, Whitner will make a lot closer to 6 million per year than the vet minimum. But hey, if you'd rather create another hole on D that needs to be filled via the draft, that's your opinion. I'd rather get him back at SS and focus on the D front 7, but that's just me.
  22. Wilson will be the backup safety.
  23. 5 years 26-30 million would be a reasonable price to keep Whitner in the fold.
  24. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/washington-redksins-oj-atogwe-free-safety-signed-030311 Scratch one off the list. I'd say i'm interested to see the terms of the deal, but the redskins probably overpaid as usual. Either way, the parameters should put up a definitive price for Whitner.
  25. Damn right. F'in crackers.
