Not exactly a huge shock. The only dolts who this upsets are the far left and far right whackjobs.

Cut the dwarf a break. "Ummm" was the only word from the press conference he understood.

Sources: Cassel formally accepts franchise tag....
Ramius replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How does "no franchised player has ever signed a deal for less than the franchise tag" value lose validity just because its a QB? Its still a true statement. This is however, unprecedented, because its the first time a player who is worth significantly less (on the open market) than the franchise tag has been tagged. I dont think any QB has ever been franchised before, because if you have a QB worth franchise tagging, you're going to pay the man to keep him. And maybe thats the pats* are going to do, keep Cassel around as a 14 mil backup. Which is fine. I've got no problem with that. The problem with trading Cassel is that the NFLPA will do whatever they can to keep driving the case of the franchise tag up. The mere act of tagging Cassel increases the value of next year's franchise tag. Now, you think the NFLPA will just sit idly by if Cassel gets traded and signs a contract thats 1/2 the value of the cap, thereby devaluing the tag and driving its value down? hell no. They may not be able to legally prevent that from happening, but what happens when they tell Cassel's agent, "He better sign for the tag value or else we'll recommend to every single player in the union that your services are questionable and aren't needed." They can effectively get a player boycott on Cassel's agent if they wanted to. Here's an interesting note as well. Cassel's agent is David Dunn. Dunn has been suspended by the NFLPA previously. He lost a 45 million dollar lawsuit to Leigh Steinberg. He's filed for personal bankruptcy. If he pisses off the union, whats left of his tattered and checkered career could quickly be over. -
There's nothing wrong with Ellison as a backup LB. Backups are designed to play in case the starter gets hurt, but usually, the backup isn't going to be good enough to play a full season at the same level as a starter. And if a backup is good enoguh to start all 16 games and play at a high level, then he's going to be starting somewhere else sooner rather than later. This team has depth problems, but Keith Ellison is not one of them. He's perfectly fine as a backup LB.

is it legal to use neighbors wireless connection
Ramius replied to achingknees's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That depends on the amount of time needed to fry, the amount of pickle juice used, and whether or not your neighbor has a tail. -
The guys gonna be over 30 by the time he can hit UFA. No one is paying big $ to an over 30 RB. He's a decent RB, so pay the man some bucks. Nothing gets accomplished by screwing Fred over and making him sit through 3 more years of RFA. Plus it send a bad message to others that the Bills aren't willing to pay people their worth. 3-4 years, 9-12 million with 5 guaranteed seems about right.

Sources: Cassel formally accepts franchise tag....
Ramius replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The simple premise is that any tagged and traded player has never signed for less than the franchise tag. Clements was tagged, but he hit the open market the following year. What VOR and I are referring to is the situation where Cassel is traded to some other team where he would presumably sign a long term extension. If he's not traded, my point is moot, because he'll play out the season under the franchise tender and make his 14 million. -
Sources: Cassel formally accepts franchise tag....
Ramius replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've looked back, and every "tag and traded" player has signed a new contract equal to or exceeding the franchise tag value. However, cassel is a unique and unprecedented situation. "Normally" a franchise tagged player is worth top-5 money. On the open market, every tagged player prior to cassel would have gotten a deal equal to or exceeding the tag value. Cassel sure as hell isn't. He'd get 7-8 mil on the open market, which is why these negotiations are interesting. The NFLPA has never had a situation where a tagged player signs for less than the tag (assuming cassel is indeed traded). -
I think that "Tom Modrak moving to the inner circle" was a metaphor for dwight dane moving to a small shed/bunker with 8 other people and that "we need more talent" really means "we need more tin foil to make sturdier hats." And the "end of the current CBA" means the "end times" And the "fight between the NFLPA and the owners" really is "the final battle between good and evil" Which means Roger Goodell is the antichrist.

What Mr. Wilson Wants this Off-season
Ramius replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I call B.S. on ralph's little "we have no talent" whine. When ralph feeds the fans the "we dont have talent" bit, it takes the fans minds off the horrendous coaching non-moves made this season. Ralph uses the no talent line as a way to continue to be cheap and not fire jauron. I also find it funny that ralph whines that we dont have any talent, yet does nothing to improve the guys responsible for bringing in that talent. -
I think he's means that the Federal government is going to tear an ACL.

Trent Edwards interview with Mike Francesa
Ramius replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take a look in the mirror from time to time. You are the exact same poster as those whom you despise. Just with a different name. Perhaps someday we'll be able to criticize trent without you making it a losman thread. Because right now, you're the only one still whining and bellyaching about JP in each and every thread. -
Still a QB situation in Buffalo?
Ramius replied to SWVABillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Revisionist history. Edwards threw a pick and fumbled the ball away in the 1st dolphins game. He's played like garbage in the second half of that game. Against Cleveland, dick jauron errors aside, this might have been the most horrendous game trent played all year. 3 picks in the first quarter, and then he refused o throw anything aside from a dump off to lynch for the rest of the game. Trent was terrible. Against san fran, you cannot just assume trent would have led us to a win. What part of his first half performance makes you believe this? Was it hit 10-21 passing? Or perhaps the 0 points he put up on the scoreboard. -
Garrard signed a huge extension last offseason. He isn't a free agent. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true

The Top 10 Reasons to Oppose the Stimulus
Ramius replied to erynthered's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So because you think the overall stimulus bill is bad, that means each and every little part of it is bad as well? There's no chance that something good can come out of it? That's how science works. That's how science has always worked. Oh yeah, i forgot. Something that would increase jobs (funding increases = more faculty jobs, more post docs, etc. its not just grad students) is bad. C'mon man, if you're in the industry then you know that the ancillary knowledge gained in any basic research is usually the most beneficial. -

Bill and his JP obsession strike again! -
So much for the "James Hardy is gonna shoot someone or be involved in a shooting incident" prediction, huh? I guess we file that with the "the san diego game will be delayed due to the apocalypse" and "look for a banking holiday" predictions, huh?

Dick Jauron is a better coach than...
Ramius replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Continuity is worthless when you're continuing with pure crap. Jauron has had 1 winning season in 8 years as a coach and you still need more time? The light is not all of a sudden going to go on for him. -

Believe it or not, funding scientific research can stimulate the economy. -
JP had nothing to do with "killing" dick jauron's career. Jauron successfully killed his own career during him time in chicago.

This is a Sara Palin post
Ramius replied to Cheeseburger_in_paradise's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Its nice that we've found yet another topic that people from both sides can put aside our differences and come together to agree that nancy grace is a worthless B word, and the world would be a much better place without her. Perhaps we can tack on another $2.50 onto the stimulus bill to buy a roll of duct tape in a bipartisan effort to make her shut the !@#$ up. -
