No way do UM and VT deserve to be in the tournament. I've watched them all season and they have been models of inconsistency. Sure they've both won some bigger games, but they've also lost a handful of games that they should have won. I have 2 main criteria for the power conference teams on the bubble. Win 20 games, and go at least .500 in conference play. Do both, and i feel your team should be in the big dance. Do 1 of them and you are squarely on the bubble. Fail to do either and you do not have much of an argument.
Miami - 18-11 overall, 7-9 in conference.
VT - 17-13 overall, 7-9 in conference.
Maryland - 18-12 overall, 7-9 in conference.
Its very tough to make a case any of them belongs in the tournament, barring a deep run into the ACC tourney. In my mind any of these teams would have to at least reach the semis of the ACC tourney before i'd ever consider them for the tournament. BC on the other hand, does belong. 21-10 overall, 9-7 in conference play, and a couple of signature wins. They have the resume to make the tournament.
