So these aren't like the guys who hang out outside Mann's Chinese theater in Hollywood all dressed up like Superheroes and cartoon characters hoping to get tips? These people are really going out and trying to fight crime?

I had Cowherd on the radio as I was driving into work today, and he was just ranting and raving about some show on HBO called Superheroes. I have never heard of this, and I don't currently get HBO, but it sounds pretty damn interesting. I don't really consider Cowherd a fan of sports, but he said that he was so into this show the last time it was on that he missed the first 20 mins of an NFL preseason game. Has anyone seen this? I'm thinking about getting HBO for a month or two just to check it out. Especially after I just saw the movie "Super" with Rainn Wilson and got a kick out of it.

Dude, I frickin HATED "Fly". I posted about it somewhere earlier on...just a complete waste of time, IMO. I would try and encourage you to keep watching, but if you've already watched half way into season 3 and you aren't engaged with the show, you probably won't be beyond that. I think most people consider S2 the best, but I actually really liked S3. Sons of Anarchy has been on my radar a while...they have it on Netflix, so I was thinking about starting it up. -
Is anyone watching 50 Documentaries to See Before You Die?
ajzepp replied to Pete's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've been eyeing that one in my netflix queue for a while now...just haven't gotten around to it. I've heard others say the same thing you have, though...that it's just an amazing piece of film. -
I definitely share your optimism about the defense. I love that we have drafted heavily on that side of the ball and I think some of these younger guys are going to end up being solid contributors. I'm drinking the Dareus/Williams/Merriman kool-aid for sure. I think what bothers me most about SAturday's game was the fact that we seemed to just get plain beat up. Denver was one of the worst teams in the league last year, and to see our guys just get pummeled like that was very disappointing. It it was just a matter of not executing, I'd feel better about it. We still have another couple weeks of preseason to get things ironed out. But that's not what happened. We were physically knocked around all game by a team that was clearly the aggressor. Aside from Stevie getting in the faces of some of the Broncos after the hit on D.Jones, this team just showed no fire in their bellies at all. I don't expect us to go out there and be dirty, but I've been waiting for a team from Buffalo, NY to PLAY like a team from Buffalo, NY for years...just as all of you have. I hope that what we saw on SAturday was a total fluke and not representative of this team at all. I don't put a ton of stock in the preseason match ups, so I really hope that by opening day we are ready to line up and lay some lumber.

Wow, this is awesome. I've seen a handful of the ones listed so far, and the others that appeal to me will be added to my netflix list. Was cool to see some of my favorites (Man on Wire; King of Kong; Spellbound) on the list so far. -
Kimbrel is having a ridiculous year. As of today, the competition for Rookie of the Year is between two Braves - Kimbrel and F.Freeman. As much as I'll be sad to see guys like Chipper and Hudson ride off into the sunset, this team is loaded with young talent. Our starting pitching rotation is literally 8 deep right now, with a couple of them just about ready to come up from AAA next year. We've got the best young closer in the game and our bullpen is solid, as well. Our GM has done a ridiculous job of amassing talent. If we can keep Michael Bourne, combined with our new nucleus of Freeman, Heyward, McCann, and a couple of others, we'll be making a run for a 2nd World Series sooner rather than later.

I completely agree with the OP. The only thing I disagree with is whether we'll actually be a top 15 defense STATISTICALLY. I think by mid-season, our D will be scary good. But it'll take several games for our newbs to get their sea legs and for the scheme to gel overall. I think we'll have some REALLY special moments in the meantime, and if you could only count stats from week 9 onward, then we'd definitely be a top 15 unit. But overall for the year, not so sure. That being said, I completely agree that our D will do a complete 180 from last year and become one of our strengths, not a liability. There is a LOT of talent on that side of the ball, we just need to give them time to grow up a bit. I'm really excited to see them develop

Does the NFL want to eliminate kickoffs?

No WAY! Is this place still rockin'?? I went there as a kid back in the 70s when I lived in Ohio. Unreal! Next thing you guys are going to tell me is that King's Dominion is still operating... -
Okay, I Think We've Hit Rock Bottom as a Society
ajzepp replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I totally hear ya, brother. I like to consider myself pretty well adjusted as an adult member of society, but sometimes I find myself remembering what it was like to be a kid back in the 70s and 80s. I agree with what Dr said about how this stuff has always happened, we're just more aware of it now...but honestly, it's amazing to think about the contrast between the safety and security of childhood (even if we considered this a bad thing at the time), and the fact that as adults we're basically on our own exposed to all the evils of the world. Very few filters, no pauses or breaks from the barrage of negativity, the feeling of being powerless to protect OTHERS from it, etc. You can really mind-fug yourself thinking about all of this stuff...so when you say you're burnt out, I feel you man. -
I like to spank my roku when he's being naughty...sometimes I need to get the whip

I love my Roku box. One of the coolest things about it is that it's very simple to move from one tv to another. If I want to go to someone else's place and watch a movie, all I have to do is take the box with me and I have access to my entire Netflix streaming library, Amazon streaming, etc. All you do is just log onto their network and you're good. I keep mine in the bedroom and I use it nearly every night. It's about the best $60 I ever spent and I haven't had a single problem with it yet. (I've owned it nearly a year.)

lol, ugh, I can't stand that guy What I said was that we hit rock bottom. Meaning, as much horror as there is in the world, I'm not sure I can think of many worse things than taking a disabled child with cerebral palsy, cutting his head off, and tossing it into the street. I'm not exactly sure where one goes from that sort of evil act....do you? Sorry man, I was reluctant to even post it. It just really affected me and I honestly can't comprehend this sort of evil. I'm a summa cum laude graduate in psych and I've worked in the medical field for the past 12 years...I hear about and observe all sorts of awful, inhumane things...but this one takes the cake for me. -

"Do you want fries balls and sauce with that foot long?" -
I hear ya, but he got a fair bit of playing time against the bears and I thought he looked pretty sloppy overall. Making a risky pass into coverage is one thing...but an inexperienced QB making throws off his back foot and/or forcing off-balance throws is another. He just can't afford to do that. He was under fire quite a bit obviously, but there were plenty of other times when he just didn't look like an NFL QB to me. I would love to see him get it together, though, cause I like the kid.

The Pats can suck it.

I really like Levi, but he gets lazy at times. I know he was getting absolutely no time from his Oline, but he didn't maintain his mechanics at all on a few throws where he shouldn't have been as bad as he was. That late interception would be inexcusable if it were a real game. Very sloppy.

I was just watching some of the 2nd half again and I saw the same thing with regard to Jasper. This kid is raw with a capital R. WAsn't effective at all, and it was mainly due to technique and getting tangled up with the blocker. He's a really long way from becoming a player, but the good news is that he's got tons of upside. Just needs a LOT of coaching. On the other hand, I thought 59 Coleman looked pretty good at times coming off the edge. He got a nice push on a few of the plays I saw, though I question his strength. He also seems to be off balance quite a bit, as he's easily redirected at times. And lastly, Carrington looked significantly bigger to me than he did last year. Those 20 lb really made quite a difference...this guy will be part of the Dline rotation for sure.

Wow, there are many more variables at play here than I realized...
