  1. Well, at least a couple of the other SEC teams showed up today, cause UGA looks TERRIBLE. They are out of shape, injured, and just plain uninspired. This may be Mark Richt's last year here, which would be too bad cause he's a really great guy. The pathetic thing is that UGA plays a no-huddle, so you'd think their defense would be accustomed to that. Instead, you've got Kellen Moore and the Broncos literally wearing them out during the drive....just pathetic. My boy Aaron Murray has no time, even with seven blockers vs five rushers, and his receivers are AWFUL. Just a very poor showing so far...this team has a lot of work to do in order to justify their top 25 ranking.
  2. Well, speaking of upsets, Ramius may be heading for another accurate prediction if the 'cocks don't get their you know what together!!! How bout those Nike combat unis on the 'dawgs!!! Lookin' SHARP in the dome, baby!!
  3. lol, you sound exactly like my brother. He and I grew up playing star wars for years...we had all the toys - the death star, the ships, the action figures, you name it. Then Lucas started screwing with the films and released the "Special Editions" for the re-release in the theaters back in 1997 (or thereabouts). Ever since then, my brother has basically sworn off Lucas. So he and I have been on opposite sides of the debate since that time. It's not that I don't understand what you guys are saying, cause I do. Those of us that saw the originals in the theater as they were from the beginning should certainly be able to see them in that same condition. Why he doesn't allow them to be released is beyond me.
  4. Cool article! Sounds like a good kid for sure...I tried to catch the end of the USC/Minny game but only saw the very end after the final interception. I'll try to make an effort to watch this kid this season since I know a lot of people really like him. I thankfully found the S.Carolina/E.Carolina game on some obscure sports channel on Dish lol...this offense was looking very good until the fumble lol. They had a 16 play drive going to start the game...Lattimore with a few nice runs, Connor Shaw with some nice runs and some nice deep throws, but also some great plays by the E.Carolina DB. Now to get a look at this S.Carolina D! I'm SO glad it's football season!!!!!
  5. All I can say is that I know there are a lot of people who feel as you do...and if I weren't a huge SW and Lucas mark, then I'd probably feel similarly. The prequels were NOTHING like I expected, and I hated the fact that he wanted to market to kids as opposed to me and you. I did feel that EpIII was a worthy film in the franchise, so I just sort of take solace in that. When I watch EpI, I FF through half of it and focus on the parts I find really cool, which are mainly the ones with Darth Maul. But alas, Lucas hates it when we fixate on the cool kid in school, so he kills him off in the end much to my dismay. Oh well...
  6. I was watching that "Elite 11" show on ESPN where Dilfer and a few QB coaches take the top 25 or so HS QBs and try to determine the top 11 prospects as they head off into college. I think I remember them talking about Barkley doing really well in that competition, but not sure I trust my recollection 100%. If that's true, just given the intensity of what I saw them put these kids through, if Barkley did well when he was with them then that piques my curiosity even more. I'm sure Luck will be a great QB, probably cure cancer and reverse global warming during his 15 year NFL career, but I don't see any way he ends up as a Bill. So I'm with you...let's take a look at some of these other prospects that are far more realistic, and that we can groom to be our future QB. I'm pretty sure Murray redshirted, yep...he was at UGA in 2009, IIRC, and he was considered a Freshman when he played last year. This will be a huge test for a very young team, but I expect we'll witness a QB begin to really earn his stripes tonight...should be a great game!
  7. I think UGA over Boise would be an upset given the relative inexperience of UGA vs the heisman hopefull at QB for Boise...but then again you have basically a home field environment for the 'dawgs, so maybe wouldn't be a HUGE upset...I just hope we have a great game...I've been looking forward to this since I first heard it was scheduled about 7 or 8 months ago I think it's a great idea...and it must feel good when you peg one that ends up coming out the way you predicted East Carolina and the 'cocks kickoff in a little over an hour...can't wait to see the first hour of that before I cut over to the 'dawgs and Boise...and also keep tabs on Oregon/LSU....WOW, what a great night of ball!!
  8. I didn't realize the Sooners were the preseason #1 until just now...this should be interesting! Sounds like you're pretty high on Barkley...have you seen Aaron Murray play at all? If not, check him out tonight...I suspect he'll rise up for the big game, cause he's got that kind of pedigree
  9. Amen, Senator. I can't remember a time when I was this sick of hearing about a player who wasn't even on our team, and who likely never will be. Enough of this already!
  10. HOly cr*p...you know, I don't remember you being this uptight several years ago...lol I haven't watched it in forever, but it seemed to make sense enough when I thought it through. But you say it was written (seemingly) by an eight year old, I think that was the problem right there...Lucas should have focused these films on his preexisting demographic who grew up on this franchise instead of targeting a new generation of fans. I know that wouldn't make as much marketing sense, but for fux sake we deserved better. Anyway, the Trade Federation was a pawn that was being ass-raped by the Sith. What was in it for them? I have no idea...but I'll assume there was arm twisting involved regardless because of how they shat themselves multiple times along the way. The idea was to completely shut off communication to and from Naboo and make it seem as if the Trade Federation were going rogue. They didn't want any Jedi involved because Jedi were the prominent "peace keepers" at the time, and Palpatine didn't want them screwing with his plans to look like the hero and/or being viewed as an extension of Chanellor Valorem's ability to resolve a crisis. The idea was to make Valorem look like a complete tool who was incapable of peeing straight, promote a groundswell for a vote of no-confidence to have the Chancellor removed, and then open the door for Palpatine to slide into the Chancellor's role. This would allow for all sorts of groundwork to be laid for the creation of the future Empire, which is what you saw develop over the next two films. That's the best I can do, man...but just remember, above all else, it's a movie
  11. Who?? I don't think Sam Gash and Tindale ever played for the Bills at the same time, did they?
  12. Wow, I just read that Spurrier has decided to BENCH Stephen Garcia and start Connor Shaw at QB today! I didn't see that coming. I knew he liked the Shaw kid and he got him some spot playing time last season, but this really comes as a surprise. I hope Spurrier knows what he's doing, cause they have a lot of nice talent on offense...you don't want it to go to waste!
  13. I'd say Ep.I was only a partial abortion. Half of the flick was awesome...if they just would have focused on the cooler elements - Palpatine behind the scenes, Darth Maul, Jedi lore, etc - and gotten rid of the crap, it would have been a solid film. Instead, you had to have Jar Jar, the Trade Federation morons (the trade federation as a concept was fine, it was their caricatures that sucked), all the cute "Ani" crap, etc. But Darth Maul was a fantastic villain, IMO. The 2nd film was solid, although I found it the least engaging. I've seen it the fewest times of all the SW films for this reason. Ep.3, IMO, ranks up there with certain parts of ESB and the ending of ROTJ in terms of its intensity. The whole Anakin turn and the immolation scene were really well done, IMO. The Palpatine reveal to Mace Windu scene was awesome. I liked a lot of what they did with General Grievous, as well as the Dooku scene in the beginning. The whole feel of the film departed from the first two prequels and I would rank it up there ahead of ROTJ as the 3rd best film in the franchise overall.
  14. Being more of an SEC fan than a fan of any one team specifically, I can't go nearly as in-depth as some of you guys can about your favorite teams, but I'll throw out two SEC East teams that I'll be following all season - UGA and South Carolina. Mark Richt set out to have his "dream team" recruiting class, and he pulled it off. Perhaps the jewel of the bunch is Isiah Crowell, one of the highest rated RBs coming out of HS. With the injuries and academic problems that have plagued UGA at the RB spot, Crowell will definitely be counted on early and often to keep the chains moving and to bust off an ESPN highlight here and there. But my biggest reason why UGA will be in the hunt for the SEC East title? Aaron Murray. This kid has all the tools to be a great college QB, and most likely he will transition beautifully into the pros in a few years. His arm isn't quite as strong as his predecessor, Matthew Stafford, but you don't lose much. What you gain over Stafford is a knack for clutch throws and a never-give-up attitude. He doesn't have ideal size as a QB, but he's no Doug Flutie either. He completed over 60% of his passes last season and had a 3:1 TD to INT ratio. All indications are that he developed a nice chemistry with one or two of his wideouts since his top target, AJ Green, is now in Cincy...I have very high expectations for this kid in 2011! As for the Cocks, ever since Lou Holtz coached there I've just been fascinated by their whole program. There is something about the atmosphere of their stadium, particularly during a night game when the fans just get TOTALLY fired up during their traditional entrance... But anyway, a lot of people thought they only won the East last year because of the rebuilding that teams like Florida, UGA, and others were going through, but this team has a lot of talent, particularly on offense. They lost a bunch of players from the defensive side of the ball, so they won't be able to rely on a stout D as they have the last few years, but they have some really nice weapons on offense. Stephen Garcia is their Sr. starting QB, and even though he is a bit of a head case, he has been productive in stretches. You've got the best RB in the SEC and one of the best in all of college football, Marcus Lattimore, coming back for his sophmore season, and they also return the best receiver in the SEC, Alshon Jeffrey. This guy is a BIG target with great hands. The Cocks will be a bit more one-sided this season, but they have enough talent to put up points and I expect them to be there in the end. I cannot WAIT!!!!!
  15. Nice call on the TCU/Baylor game! As for SC, there's no WAY they're going to lose their opener...GAMECOCKS BABY!!!!
  16. True, this sentiment has been expressed forever
  17. We're definitely seeing some evidence that we had one HELL of a draft class this year.
  18. lol, yeah I don't really have any desire to see Ozzy come back...there were better choices than that for sure. At least we got the Dragon Slayer though
  19. True, she was at least willing to fight...unlike a few of the others. I wish Dominic had stayed in a bit longer...I think that he could have had a really good alliance with Dani and maybe one other person. He seemed diplomatic, yet strategic. Oh well...at least the ratings were up this year...probably ensures that we get another summer of Big Brother next year! Besides, Survivor starts in two weeks...hoping Russell's nephew has some of the Hantz evil in him
  20. I'm definitely not meaning to exclude other conferences...I just have really come to love this one Seriously, the rivalries and the fierce competition among these schools/coaches/players/alums is just intense as hell. If I wasn't right in the middle of it I probably wouldn't be as into it as I am, but having lived about a half hour from UGA for the past ten years, it's just too much to resist. That being said, I want to reiterate my prediction (that I first made early last season) that Aaron Murray, Sophmore QB for the 'dawgs, will become one of the top QBs in college ball. This kid is a player...he's not phased by pressure, he has a knack for clutch playrs in crunch time, and he's only going to get better. And to throw a bone to another conferernce, I was reading about the QB for Wisconsin last night...I guess this kid transferred in from another school and just lit up UNLV yesterday. Being that one of these young guns could be playing in a Bills uni in the next few years, I'm taking special note of the QB position in college, as are many of you. I'm over all the Andrew Luck talk...it's just not going to happen. I don't see us being among the losingest teams this season, so he won't be there when we draft next year. So I'm going to be keeping an eye on these younger kids who are in the process of growing into the role. I never figured Matthew Stafford for a big time NFL QB, mainly because he never really had any "moments" when he was at GA. he's a smart kid with a big arm, and he's got a good head on his shoulders (comes from a great family), and so far he's playing really well in Detroit. I think Aaron Murray will end up being better than Stafford, and he had more "moments" last year than Stafford had in his few years as a starter. If you guys get a chance to check him out tomorrow night (ESPN, 8pm), chime in with your thoughts. Hopefully he'll have a great showing against a really solid team in Boise St. Kickoff in 28 hours baby!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, that sounds like a plan. I just saw that a lot of these threads in here haven't been touched since 2010 lol. But with all the college fans here, hopefully we can get it cranked up! College ball in general has nearly equalled the NFL (in general) for me in terms of my excitement level...tomorrow can't get here fast enough! BTW Ramius, I was watching some of C.Ponder the other night...that guy had one of the most beautiful touch passes I've ever seen late in the game. He left the pocket and put a ball about 20 yds downfield right over a leaping CB and into the arms of his receiver...the kid throws a NICE ball and seems to have a real nice presence about him. I didn't know much about him prior to the draft, but I would have loved to have seen this kid in a Bills uni just based on the little bit I've seen so far. He's gonna be a keeper for the Vikes!
  21. Wow, my thread got sent to message board purgatory...
  22. Aiken is growing on me. Just going over some of the game replay from last night, there was one catch he made where he showed impresive burst after the catch...it was the play where he was down at like the 1 yd line. He looked like a man possessed on that play...we need that on this team!
  23. This is the most excited I've ever been for the start of a college football season. Tomorrow night I will be glued to the tv for the two big games that will be on simultaneously starting at 8pm....Georgia v. Boise St and LSU vs. Oregon. Obviously the SEC is the premier conference in college football, and I would not be surprised if the national champion came out of this conference for the 6th straight time. Who will be watching the games tomorrow?? BTW, those of you with smart phones (Android, iPhone), check out the app called "Official SEC". I just downloaded it and it's got a nice layout. I will be using this all season, I'm sure.
  24. I know, right? George needs to put down the Vader. It would be funny if he keeps tinkering into his later years when senility may start to sink in. Next thing you know you'll have a cameo of Jabb the Hutt stuffed inside the Millenium Falcon flying at light speed or some crazy sheeat.
