At the end of the day they have to trust their evals. They’ve had more time with Bates than anyone. They know what his strengths and weaknesses are and they should be able to determine what he’s worth within a reasonable range. They can’t listen to me and get spooked by their misevaluations of Ford, Teller, Spain, Creed, etc. - they need to maintain discipline and stick to their process. It’s frustrating as fans because they keep screwing up the position but it won’t help to compound the problem by wildly overpaying based upon an outsider’s willingness to pay a certain price.

Okay but will they eat the salary with blue cheese or ranch?

Would just be floored if Hamilton falls that far - he may be the best player in the draft. I know safeties aren’t good investments that high but still… someone is going to pull the trigger on him in the top six or seven I have to believe.

I could see the Jets turning to him as a consolation prize after missing out on Hill.

TBH not seeing a ton of explosiveness and those are his HIGHLIGHTS. That is not a first round athlete imo.

Hill in South Beach what can go wrong?

The Draconator v. Yolo rivalry has really heated up lately.

Hill on the Dolphins is meh. Very telling that it doesn’t scare the Chiefs. There’s only one ball to go around and they don’t have a QB who can take advantage of Waddle and Hill on the field together. Struggling to think of examples of receiver-heavy offenses dominating the league. And they won’t be able to pay both guys when it’s Waddle’s turn.

They should be commended for their ranking and targeting of Allen. They also got incredibly lucky - TWICE - first by having Mahomes fall to them and then by having Allen fall to them. It's incredible when you think about it.

Bad look for LV's new personnel department. How anyone could look at Butler's tape the past two years and decide to sign him before July is a total enigma to me.

Agree with that. But there is zero reason to draft a guard in round 1 like ever. Doing so while also losing a potential cheap depth option would be two mistakes.

If they let Bates walk and draft a RG in Round 1 it will be a sad development.

For whatever reason they have a really tough time figuring out what to do with guards. Ford, Teller, now Bates - can you imagine if they let Bates leave and he, like Teller, becomes elite elsewhere? And they're again looking for a young guard? Cannot understand the difficulty they have evaluating their own players at IOL.
