The new, mature, Peerless Price
BillsFanForever19 replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, it's what we're doing right now actually (and have been doing for years). Generally, your 5th and 6th WR's are designated as ST's contributers. They don't usually sniff the field. They're still WR's who can play if given the opportunity. But Price and Reed don't play ST's. So does it make sense to have them at 5 or 6 given those circumstances? No. -
I was skimming through the Rochester D&C this morning and noticed a bit in one of the columns citing an article from a San Francisco newspaper (sorry, no link) that said Buffalo will have the 2nd most room under the cap in the NFL! (The number was 39.6 or 39.7 and was 2nd only to SF's 42.1). Not only that, but the cap is supposed to increase by around $7 million next year. So maybe we will be able to keep Nate, London, and sign a big FA or two after all.

The new, mature, Peerless Price

My only question is who goes? Evans and Parrish aren't going anywhere. Andre' Davis has proven to be one HELL of a Special Teamer and we all know of Aiken's ST's contributions. You have to assume that we'll only keep 6 WR's on the roster and that's 4 right there. I agree, Josh Reed and Peerless Price are good #3's. But neither one is a viable option to take pressure off of Lee. Whether that means we sign a guy like Drew Bennett or draft a guy like Dwayne Jarrett remains to be seen. But if we do that, then we'll only have one roster spot left for Price or Reed. Both WR's were signed to 4-yr, $10 million contracts (which I thought was pretty dumb). That's a lot of money and contract to eat on one of those guys. -
my god, our uniforms look awful.

The only combination I have a problem with is the white jerseys with the white pants. All the other combinations are cool with me. In order of preference though: 1.) Throwbacks 2.) Blue Jerseys and Blue Pants 3.) White Jerseys and Blue Pants 4.) Blue Jerseys and White Pants -
Steve Hutchinson

Oh yeah, he sure seemed that way against the Texans and Jags I do however have a problem with how long it takes for him to get things going in the beginning of the game. But he certainly doesn't lose it for us in the end. Comparing him to Plummer this soon is unfair.

How do you explain the losses to the Jets at home and Lions on the road? Listen, I hope we do win. But to say that we're going to win every game is pushing it. -
I agree. But it's Calvin Johnson and Dwayne Jarrett
-
I rank Jake Long as the 2nd best Offensive Lineman available in the draft behind Joe Thomas. I think Long is world's better than Sam Baker. If he's there he should definitely be heavily considered. Although with the way the offensive line has been playing since "the switch", I don't know that it's still our biggest need. The Left and Center are solid. The Right side could use some experience in my opinion. I don't want to disrupt the chemistry and foundation that's being built there. I'd like to see us get a big name veteran in FA and call it a day. There's been so many "can't miss" OL drafted into busts over the years (I.E. Mike Williams, Leonard Davis, and Robert Gallery). I'd venture to say they're the riskiest position to invest a high pick in. But we'll see.
-
Actually, if you've been watching the past few games you'd notice that the O-Line is playing MUCH better. The left side with Peters, Gandy, and Fowler at Center is solid. Gandy was a terrible LT, but he's a good LG. Preston is an okay RG (much better than Villarial) and Pennington gets better with every game. Perhaps a move on the right side will happen but any other move should be for depth. Right now the problem isn't the O-Line, it's the lack of talent at the skills position. Willis has been inconsistent and injury prone all season and A-Train is nothing more than a 3rd down back. Lee Evans is a beast, but when you double him up Peerless Price can't take the pressure off. He makes a play here and there, but for the most part he can't get open. Losman's been having all the time in the world. But it doesn't matter because our WR's and TE's are useless.

Playoff Spot is Still in Play...
BillsFanForever19 replied to ezbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So lemme get this straight: - We'd have to win out including on the road against Baltimore and New York. - The Jags. Chiefs, Broncos, AND either Cincinnati or the Jets would have to lose half of the games for the rest of the year. I can see it. Really I can -

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html Ouch! That's pretty much the top Mock site on the web and the place I go to all the time. With Dwayne Jarrett, Marshawn Lynch, Paul Poluszny, and others still on the board; they have us taking...... JaMarcus Russell, QB LSU -
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4465 ^ That's a really good read. A lot of that stuff I already noticed though. The guy is SO passionate it's ridiculous! He is constantly going wild and pumping the fans and his team up. It's absolutely refreshing and something I think this team was desperately missing. While he's new and may not be making a lot of tackles or sacks, it seems as if he's been bringing leadership, direction, and passion to fans and teammates. He also seems to be getting better every weekend. I'd give up a 5th any day to have this guy. I'm glad he's a Bill.

Sadly, no. But if he does go CB it had better be Leon Hall. I don't want him to reach for some guy whose a lower grade talent because he likes his character or how he watches film. I'm leaning towards offensive firepower myself. The past few games the defense and offensive lines have looked phenomenal. But nothings getting done on offense. But I could definitely see Paul Poluszny in Bills blue and you wouldn't hear me complaining one bit! -

lol I hear ya on the Texas thing. But honestly, I don't know if going OL is the way to go with our 1st pick anymore. The past few games the OL has REALLY come on well (and against very good D-Lines). J.P. has been getting a LOT of time to pass. I don't know if we should blow up the line. They seem to be getting some chemistry. I think our problem is lack of firepower. Outside of Lee Evans (who is blanketed every game) we really don't have much. Price makes an occasional play and Parrish isn't an every down WR. McGahee is't consistent and next year's the last year on his contract. Don't be shocked to see a RB or WR. Especially with elite talents like Dwayne Jarrett and Marshawn Lynch most likely available when we pick. -

This is going to be a helluva draft. I like the prospects a lot more than 2006's superstar draft. There will definitely be some late risers (ala Jay Cutler). Both QB's on the bottom of my list are guys I project to be late risers. Most people write off Troy Smith as a top pick because of his height (around 5'11"). But I think after he wins the Heisman on Saturday and if he has a decent Championship game, he'll get the Vince Young treatment. JaMarcus Russell is unquestionably the top Jr. QB prospect (especially since Louisville QB Brian Brohm decided to stay in school). When scouts get a gander at his size and rocket arm, they'll start drooling around February and he'll fly up the charts. Although, I have to disagree with your signature. Levi Brown and Sam Baker are two guys I DEFINITELY don't want us to pick. I don't think Baker will come out. Especially if Long does. He was dreadful in the UCLA game and he has never really impressed me. Brown is another guy that is pretty overrated in my opinion. He's a RT prospect who is a hit or miss guy. If he doesn't work at RT, you're pretty much screwed. I like Justin Blalock better than both of those players. Blalock is a natural OG with the size and athleticism to be put anywhere on the line. -

Thanks for the heads up on Ronnie. CJ and Thomas are guaranteed to both be gone by the time we pick (save a trade up). Long should be there though. Yeah, other than the QB's that's probably the last guy on the list i'd want. But if we don't get Nate back and we can't get Asante Samuel or another viable veteran we may have to go secondary again. Especially with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding what happened with Ashton Youboty's rookie season. God knows what we have there. With the exception of the Ohio State game, Leon Hall has looked superb all year. He's unquestionably the top CB. -
Johnson or Losman in pic?
BillsFanForever19 replied to RJsackedagain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know how it's even a remote possibility you could have mistaken that as a pic of RJ. -
http://www.nfldraftforecast.com/draft/order.shtml As much as I loved the streak we were on, I think we'll be damn lucky to win two of the next four games. 1.) New York Jets on the Road: The Jets are on a helluva roll right now. They're 7-5 and are running on all cylinders. They annhilated Brett and the Packers last week on the road. They know that their last 4 games are against teams under .500. They smell the playoffs. 2.) Miami Dolphins at Home: This is probably the best chance we have at a win and I expect them to pull it out. But it won't be as easy as we thought it would be. Joey Harrington is emerging as their QB and Ronnie Brown is a terror on the ground. 3.) Tennessee Titans at Home: Wow, this kid thinks he's back in Texas. And their RB is running better than he ever did in Buffalo. He'll have a little more steam in his step returning to the Ralph. By the way, they just handed Peyton only his 2nd loss of the season. 4.) Baltimore Ravens on the Road: This game looked like it was going to be the Bills starters against the Ravens reserves. Unfortunately, after the Ravens loss to the Bengals and what seems like a million AFC teams driving for a playoff berth; Baltimore will be playing for something. NOW you'll notice that Buffalo is currently sitting at 14. But what a lot of people haven't noticed is that this year is different than the last couple years in that most teams are winning more. So there isn't a whole lot seperating the teams. As a matter of fact, the difference between Buffalo picking at 14 and Houston picking at 5 is one win! Last year we picked at 8 with a record of 5-11. This year's 8 could be someone with a record of 6-10 or 7-9. Another thing to look at is the playoff picture. 12 teams make it to the playoffs every year. With Buffalo not making it, they won't be picking any lower than 20. But again, with the way the AFC is playing out; teams with a record of 10-6 or 9-7 will just barely miss. So it's pretty much impossible that we'll be picking at the higher end of 15. I predict we finish the season 7-9 (although 6-10 is a DEFINITE possibility) and will be picking at 10 or 11. With that said, here's a look at the top 13 players, in no particular order (Jr's included are pretty much locks to come out): Brady Quinn, QB Notre Dame Joe Thomas, OT Wisconsin Calvin Johnson, WR Georgia Tech (Jr.) Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma (Jr.) Ted Ginn Jr., WR Ohio State (Jr.) Dwayne Jarrett, WR USC (Jr.) Marshawn Lynch, RB California (Jr.) Alan Branch, DT Michigan (Jr.) Paul Poluzsny, LB Penn State Gaines Adams, DE Clemson Jake Long, OT Michigan (Jr.) Leon Hall, CB Michigan Troy Smith, QB Ohio State (or) JaMarcus Russell, QB LSU (Jr.) [One or both will be a top pick] Now with the exception of the QB's (I pray J.P. is the guy), I would kill to have any of those guys. And with the way things are playing out, we will EDIT: Here's a pic I found that someone made of Dwayne Jarrett. I really can't argue with that thought: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f212/ste...rrett_bills.jpg

With the 17th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft
BillsFanForever19 replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? The way I see it, 20 teams don't make the playoffs. So we DEFINITELY won't be picking any lower than 20. This year with the way the AFC is playing out there's going to be a handful of teams with 9-7 or 10-6 records that won't get into the postseason. Buffalo's last 4 games are FAR from easy. We're going into the Meadowlands where they are on one helluva roll. Then we have the Dolphins at home who have started to get it together (although this is probably the game we have the best chance in). Then it's the red hot Titans with Vince Young coming off of wins against both Mannings and then the Ravens in Baltimore who will probably still be playing for something after their loss this week. We'll be lucky to walk away with two of those games. If you think we're picking after 15, you've got some dreams. It would be nice, but I don't see it. Of that list (which I outright stated a lot would be gone by), you'll notice no QB's, CB's, or S's. Brady Quinn will most likely be the top pick and he wasn't included. Michigan CB Leon Hall as well. If you think that by the time we pick 3 teams will be taking WR's, 2 teams will be taking a RB, 2 teams will be taking an OT, and the rest of the players will go before us you're sadly mistaken. Some of the people on that list are slated to go when we pick and you never know who will fall. And again, I didn't include all of the top prospects. I guarantee at least two of those players will still be there when we pick. -
With the 17th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft
BillsFanForever19 replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see us winning two of the final 4 games, bringing us to 7-9. The top 20 picks will be reserved for teams that didn't make the playoffs. There will be more than 3 teams ranked ahead of us. While I don't think we'll have a top 10 pick, I don't think we'll be picking as low as 17. Even so, I don't think that Calvin Johnson, Ted Ginn Jr., and Dwayne Jarrett will all be picked by the time we pick. I'd rank each of them above Notre Dame's Great White Shark. The TE Miller isn't worthy of that high of a pick. I don't know that OG Blaylock is either. If we traded down, I could see one of them. But I think there will be better players available then them when we pick. DeMarcus Tyler is interesting, but I think we have enough young DT's (drafting two in last years draft). I think DT will be addressed with a veteran. It looks like you're running off of a list of seniors as well. There will be a LOT of Juniors coming out like every year. It's my belief that one or more of the following will be available when we pick and should be taken (some of which will DEFINITELY be gone, but you never know who will fall for what reasons): Joe Thomas, OT Wisconsin Jake Long, OT Michigan (Jr.) Calvin Johnson, WR Georgia Tech (Jr.) Ted Ginn Jr., WR Ohio State (Jr.) Dwayne Jarrett, WR USC (Jr.) Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma (Jr.) Marshawn Lynch, RB California (Jr.) Alan Branch, DT Michigan (Exception to the rule because he is AWESOME) Paul Poluzsny, LB Penn State Gaines Adams, DE Clemson I'd rank all of those players above the players you have on this poll. -
Willis Travolta-McGahee
BillsFanForever19 replied to generaLee83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think anyone will argue that Willis had a good game. However, his dancing and patience paid off in big dividends last week (and not just the 30 yard TD). With the exception of the last two games, he was running hard and forward like he was A-Train all season. There will be weeks when you can't run and you run into guys like Jamal Williams. That's going to happen. -
