I can deal with him being the bridge for one more season. What I won't be able to deal with is if we keep him and then don't draft Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, or Jackson. That would be unacceptable.
So basically - they're gonna pay the $6 mil so the team trading for him will only pay the $10 mil base salary. Cheaper deal makes him more attractive. And they can't very well move a player that everyone knows will be cut.
This changes nothing IMO.
According to thebuffalofanatics Instagram page - the Bills are shopping LeSean McCoy. They claim they "dug deep" and "spoke to a source close to the situation".
I don't buy it. At his age and contract number, the return would be minimal for our best player on Offense. But a lot of people take them with their close to 50k followers as gospel.
If they did move him, I would be furious. I think it would be a terrible decision. What say you?
I wasn't saying that's what he does on EVERY play. What I was saying was that a QB could have 100% completion pct by dumping it off on every single play. And as such, that stat is pretty flawed. Especially if you're trying to say it pertains to a throwers accuracy.
No, Tyrod doesn't dump off every play. But I think you'd be fooling yourself if you thought that a lot of those "passes" weren't Shady picking up chunks after the touch. And let's be honest - he's not throwing the ball unless a guy is sitting in his route and staring at him. So his completion percentage and lack of INT's is of no surprise and worth very little to me.
I know this was 5 pages ago - but this statement couldn't be anymore wrong.
A guy could throw 100% of his passes two feet in front of him and as long as the RB doesn't drop it; he'd have 100% completion percentage. Which, honestly, isn't far off from what Taylor does.
Completion percentage has ZERO barring on accuracy.
Yes and I don't care when!
In my opinion, all of the trading we did for picks was to accure capital to FINALLY select a Franchise QB they believe in. Just like the Eagles did. And the Rams. And the Bucs. And the Titans.
It worked out great for all of them. But somewhere along the way, everyone has become obsessed with keeping every pick.
If we don't trade up, we're not going to get one of the top 4 guys. Simple as that.
I think this franchise would sooner turn to Josh McCown or Sam Bradford/Case Keenum with Peterman and another draft pick. I don't think us missing out on Cousins and Smith changes a thing re: Tyrod.
If it makes you feel any better, you'll never know if it does happen. Whomever they pick - they're gonna say it was THE guy they fell in love with during the draft process. Even if he really was their 3rd choice, who would ever admit it?
It IS insensitive to say "I hope it's (X)"
It isn't insensitive to think of which players would or would not be more devastating to the long term franchise plans.
The latter is just human nature as a fan of a team.
I think Matthews out just means relying more on Andre Holmes, Zay Jones, and Nick O'Leary. With how Tight End heavy this offense is - it's not as big of a deal.
Really? Because my very first interaction with him was in Fredonia looking for an autograph. I called out his name as he was walking to the dorms and he walked up to the makeshift fence and signed for me and my family.
And when the Bills moved to Fisher - I saw him signing a lot of autographs there too.
Not saying you're wrong. But it definitely flies in the face of what i've seen and experienced from Doug.
Wow, I must have missed the memo where everyone decided it's hip to bash on him decades later.
Are any of you Flutie hating edgelords Pro-Tyrod Taylor? Just wondering because I think that would make my head explode.
@FieldYates: Source: the Bills, who are dealing with QB injuries right now, worked out former Panthers QB/ST-er Joe Webb. Familiar to Brandon Beane.
I'd swap him out for T.J. Yates in a heartbeat. And you get a Special Teamer.
The only thing I don't like about this is that I kept hearing we'll probably have to choose between him and Richie next year. Hopefully, that's not the case and there's enough room for both.
