  1. Agreed...I turned it to 97 rock as here we are winning a game finally, and something to feel good about and he is complaining about the 1st pick in the draft and not getting Luck. The Bills are fully capable of going 5-3 in their last 8 games and I's rather see them learn to win and compete and start turning into a good TEAM as opposed to holding on to some hypothetical dream for a guy who might come out, might be the number one pick, might be as good as Fitzpatrick has played this year in 2013, etc.... And the thing is the next Andrew Luck is coming out in 2012, 2013, 2014 etc...there will always be good QBs coming out and your chance is still less than 50% he is going to be an All Pro. Why not enjoy the feeling of a win for the team, organization and community and use it to feel good and build on!!
  2. Announced at over 56k for the game on a bad day for a team 0-8 vs a tema that is 2-6. I'd say a great turnout given the conditions and the game. Great showing by the Bills faithful!
  3. But can he play football? There are lots of workout warriors...cough, Aaron Maybin who look great running in shorts in the gym and training with weights.
  4. I agreed last year that P Fewell would have been a very good HC for the team but I know I was definitely in the minority. But it is true the fan base would have revolted originally if Fewell was named the HC as they were awaiting a Gruden or Cowher to be named. It's old news now but the guy can coach and players responded to him. He knew what it took Nix/Gailey 8 months to figure out. Fitz was way better than Edwards and you could do fine with FJ as a RB. I hope he goes on and becomes a HC as he is a great guy, great energy and very likeable. But right now the Bills may have been 3-5 and everybody would be calling for his head.....this situation is a lot better for him with the Giants as HC candidates rise and fall quickly.
  5. I agree and the venue is horrible. Even if you had 50k Bills fans there and only 5k Bears fans it would be terrible atmosphere. The stadium is not a football stadium. And we did give away 5 home games. Luckily this game meant nothing but if this becomes a game next year where the Bills are say, 4-4 and fighting for a playoff spot then it makes fans even more upset.
  6. I think the Southern Ontario and Toronto market is something that cannot be ignored. But that being said, I have many Canadian friends/family who enjoy coming to Buffalo for the game day experience as it is something new and different. People need to understand that from Hamilton Ontario and south of Hamilton you have over 1 million people/potential fans. Fans can go to the games as it is affordable. A Toronto team would do nothing for these people as it would be way overpriced so they can make a day of coming to Buffalo, going to the game etc... There are plenty of ways to market to that region and not play a game there. Have players go to Southern Ontario schools, commercials at local businesses in Ontario with the Bills going on the radio stations there and so forth. The Bills could offer discounted transportation for businesses/groups if they rent a suite for 2-3 games a year. Something I have said for a long time now is that the one thing this series does show is that Toronto NEEDS a new stadium if they want an NFL team and that is not going to happen, on top of paying close to $1B for a team and a relocation fee of $6-700M to the NFL and then build a $1B stadium.
  7. So taking your team on the road to a tying FG in Baltimore against one of if not the best defense is choking? Taking them in KC to a winning FG (to have it nullified by a ridiculous time out) and then Lindell missed the 2nd. Or is it choking when your defense cannot stop anyone and miss a give me pick six in the game yesterday. He made a bad throw, but made 15-20 really good throws some of which were completed. Tell me he chokes when the Bills defense stops someone or actually gets a turnover in the opponents end and he throws an INT in the endzone or something like that. We were in the game yesterday b/c of Fitz people not the other way around. No running game at all and we were still in the game.
  8. I agree and was shocked they did not challenge that call. They challenged the Roscoe catch and not the Olsen catch/non-catch. If you slow that one down you see the nose of the ball hit the turf. There is your 4 point difference!
  9. Yes if Fitz hits that they win, but if Roscoe makes that 35 yard catch, if Lee makes that catch in his hands, if FJ makes a catch and it extends the drive instead of a punt. The problem with Fitz throwing the INT is that the Bills have such little margin for error whereas better teams' QBs throw INTs like that all the time but the entire team is better and they stop the offense. Imagine that, after a turnover your defense actually stopping someone. Also, that pick 6 is a much easier play to make for B Scott than a 40 yard pass play. That ball is just floating there and is a catch you HAVE to make. Same with Whitner in the Baltimore game. When you put your offense in the position where they have to make all the plays in the game you are in trouble. The Bills stopped the Bears on 3rd down but a penalty extends the 1st TD drive and those 4 points are the differnece in the game, same with a missed PAT. The Bills are just not good enough to make up for those type of plays
  10. He is a nice change of pace back but I think you need to start Spiller or give Spiller a lot more touches. I think FJ is very hesitant and he does look slow to move but his style contrasted with Spiller actually makes things tougher for a defense at times as the two run differently. I do think Spiller should start to be the feature back. FJ is a good back but Spiller can be a game changer
  11. And a lot of scouts have Mallet as a 2nd-3rd round grade. Certianly not worth a top 5 pick in the draft.
  12. Agree 100% as well. If the Bills have a decent defense they win at least four of those games this year. When it counts we are incapable of stopping anyone. The offense put up three TDs on three long scoring drives and with a good defense that is enough. That one int is costly but so is the Bryan Scott miss on a pick six and the defense not stopping the Bears after the INT. Your QB moves you on multiple drives and passes for 300 yards and that with a good D wins you games. The problem is.....where do you get a front seven???? That's at least 3-4 more players as I think with better players around them guys like Poz and K Williams get better.
  13. If Fitz is just a backup caliber then 20 other starting QBs in the league are too! The guy is legit with no running game and a below average OL. He had multiple drops today from WRs with balls on the money. The guy will take chances and make throws and threw the ball over 50 times and people are getting on him for that? Do you people remember the QB play we have had for 10 years until Fitz the past 4 weeks? FYI, no rookie is coming in and playing anywhere near 50% of what Fitz has played.
  14. I heard them talking about it this morning and it basically sounds like if Luck declares you go after him. Again, that is somewhat of a big gamble too as he will be a one year wonder in college as a QB. The rest are not worthy of a top ten pick. Mallett as a mid round pick is someone not going to go to Buffalo unless he drops to round 2 or 3......looks like he is viewed as a Clausen and/or McCoy, Pike etc....from this year's class. When Gabriel mentioned a freshman came in for Arkansas and put up 350 yards of passing and played as well as Mallett it does make you think/question just how good he is if a kid playing HS football 9 months ago can put up similar numbers
  15. The sentiment of the post is correct and you could do the same with the Pats' recent drafts. The point being that the Bills have not drafted well in the 1st rounds recently but neither have a lot of teams and that having high draft picks in no way assures you are picking a good player. There are so many variables with giving 21 year old kids $50M in a 1st round, having them go to an unfamiliar city and try an adjust to something they may never be suited for. I think the big lesson is that once you have your QB it makes things a lot easier for you and allows for a greater margin of error. I do hear about bashing of the Bills' front office for taking a guy like Hardy but not the Pats for the same round WR like a Chad Jackson or Steelers' like Limas Sweed. Why root for the number one pick in the draft when it is less than a 50/50 chance of getting a Pro Bowl player. Every front office whiffs....hopefully by the law of averages the Bills do not try and overthink themselves and pick the right player
  16. Agree completely with your post. I could not stand Trent's constant I'll have to look at the tape and "we" threw an interception. Fitz says "I threw an interception" I like Fitz, I'm starting to like Gailey and appreciate his honestly. I think once they have a defense they will be a pretty good team. Unfortunately we play in the toughest division in football. KC is the top of their division????
  17. Remember Monday night against the Browns a couple years ago? The Bills ran three straight running plays at the end of the game and everyone was on the coaching staff saying they should have done something to get closer to make it a more makeable FG. Well, you can't have it both ways. This is the exact opposite of that. Lindell did make the FG...unfortunately TO was called. The only thing that matters if that you execute a play well they could have been stopped for losses three straight times on runs and gotten out of FG position.
  18. By far reverse the culture of losing.....do I get this straight? People would be upset if Fitz plays the rest of this year like he has and is a top 5 QB and the Bills go 8-8 and win 8 of ten games? Why?????? That would mean we have a good team that needs some tinkering and the guys are learning to win and play together and be a team! The offense is really starting to look and feel like they are starting to gel and love to play together. Yes let's draft a guy we hope can play as good as Fitz has 3 years from now. Learn to win, expect to win and get the players for the Bills confident again and something to be proud of with this franchise
  19. I do think it is still way too early to call him a bust and he is still very young. Keep in mind many in Seattle are calling Aaron Curry a bust as well as he was the 4th overall pick in that draft and gave very mediocre production. The draft is a complete crapshoot which is why I never understand people on this board wanting the Bills to tank for a high draft pick. There is at least a 50/50 chance the player is not good. People seem to love Andrew Luck on this board yet criticize Maybin and forget that Luck is a one year wonder to date as well. He had like 11 TD passes all of last year and now is a superstar? That is one good year in college just like Maybin. Hopefully Maybin does use this as motivation and they find a way for him to use his great athletic ability
  20. I agree 100%....people seem to be in love with draft picks. Gee, would you rather give Washington your 3rd round draft pick for Albert Haynesworth or pick another DE like Carrington that needs to be groomed for the next 2-3 years to possibly be a NFL quality DE? Get proven players...it really only takes 2-3 and then draft one in the 1st round and this defense is completely different and the whole team is immensely better. The draft is a crapshoot with half of them "busts" who are 1st round picks....legfitimate busts like Mike Williams and Aaron Maybin. D Whitner is not a bust (not worthy of the 8th pick but M Huff was not worthy of the 7th pick)....but he is not nearly an impact player you could obtain in FA. It is really a combination of the draft and FA, but I would much rather have proven NFL players!
  21. Perry's defense was better with an offense 100 times worse. The defense kept us in games last year until the 4th quarter when they wilted and tired out. Also, no team EVER in Bills history has given up over 30 points a game 4 weeks in a row and now it is 5!!!! That is a huge difference. Coming in with the plan they did does not inspire any confidence whatsoever. They saw the players we had and made a switch that created about 3-4 more holes to fill.
  22. Anyone who watched the team last year knew he was better than Trent. Knew FJ was a very good RB and knew we had a serviceable defense and needed probably a DT and a LB. I think that is the troublesome thing is that we all saw it and you wasted a lot of time trying to mix and match and see who you have on the team and you could have gotten a lot more from this team early by playing them all (Fitz/FJ/WRs/etc) together. Oh well....maybe we just say hey we need 8 more good players on defense and just use FA to form a great great D
  23. We may have found a QB. If you have a stud DT or DE/LB that is draftable in top 5 you may actually draft them instead of a QB. Unless Luck is coming out I think Fitz's play if it keeps up changes the landscape. The guy was VERY impressive shredding the vaunted Ravens' D for almost 400 yards passing. How many QBs will do that in the Ravens' stadium this year?
  24. If we have the worst OL then that must mean our QB and RB is acctually must better than advertised. We have a bad OL but it is probably impossible to distinguish how bad 16-32 are and they are probably about the same
  25. He does not have close to the amount of cash for a team. If his net worth is $350M even if he liquidated every last cent he would be about $500M short. So not going to happen.
