  1. I do think that college announcers do a better job, and that they are better prepared. I generally turn down the volume on most NFL telecasts, though, sooner or later.
  2. AFAIK, the stadium is sold out. Management could prance and dance in pink tights down the streets of Black Rock every Saturday night as far as the receipts are concerned.
  3. Mail 100 bucks of your cash today, to OBD as a sign of your support.
  4. Yep - that's what I meant to type.
  5. They'd have to pay him vested vet money, and guarantee him a full year's salary if they sign him after Opening Day.
  6. Wow..his handlers made a mistake there. His camp correctly fought against getting him into unscripted "Town Hall" situations.
  7. You don't like Aikman? I think Buck and Aikman do a good job, so far as NFL yakkers go. Aikman is less chatty that Madden, but both of those two lend insight on strategy and game trends. IMO, Buck/Aikman are decent - at least for NFL announcing - at stopping their chatting and noting what's happening on the field.
  8. That Porsche Cayenne was a 5,000 lb behemoth - a force ...even at low speed...to be reckoned with. Canadian Chick was one tough cookie.
  9. Hmm...I don't get to see many Bills games - isn't Ellison a flyweight that gets flipped into the cheap seats by linemen and bounces off determined running backs? No?
  10. Good venting, oti!
  11. I think that pro athletes are at the bottom of the entertainment biz when it comes to brains. Their marketability is their physical skills - intact - first and foremost. It gets parsed, details are explored - but only after the ability to hit the field is established. PT Barnum: "So you want a continuation of your job on the high wires". Applicant: "Yes. I have a proven record of performance". PT Barnum" "I see. Well, hop on up and let's see if you can still do that". Applicant: "No, not until you sign me up for a whole year's pay". PT Barnum: "Next, please".
  12. I never worry about the affairs of millionaires...
  13. Well said, and likely so. I can't see why some wish to slam the guy - he was entertaining to watch in his heyday...kicking him now is pretty cheesy...
  14. Tell us more about your fascination, please... http://www.answers.com/topic/incubus
  15. I'd recommend they invoke the 'ole "student body runs straight ahead up the middle". Repeatedly. And not abandon it if it doesn't show early dividends. 'Hawk's LBs are pretty good at sealing off the wide playcalls.
  16. Good luck to him. Culpepper played hard, and gave it what he had. I don't think anyone could call him a bum on the playing field.
  17. Nah. They are heroes, warriors of the first water, and the opponent can't bring their "A" game. Easy win.
  18. Eh - they are facing a crippled Seahawk club at the home field with bunches of starter injuries, 2 starter suspensions, and a QB with an iffy back - I'm not sure it matters if those two don't suit up...
  19. "Picard" name history... http://www.surnamedb.com/surname.aspx?name=Picardo
  20. FWIW, B'gals have moved up their departure for their Sunday game at BAL. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/s....cincinnati.com
  21. I see a wide difference between college game announcers - and their level of preparation - and the general run of juvenile, ill-informed behavior that many NFL game announcers exhibit. I'm also amazed that anyone gives a rat's patoot about what NFL announcers - or pundits - utter. It's show biz.
  22. FWIW, CFL, the "Game Center" stat and play-by play functions on nfl.com, and CBS Sportsline, are useful for "watching" a game. Old TiCat fan here - a successful season is when the Argos are out of the picture.
