Chris Henry is baaaack this coming Monday
stuckincincy replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Brown re-signing him after Lewis said he was persona non grata under any circumstance was assuredly a stick into Lewis. A trading of Henry is but an after-the-fact deed. -
Thanks - that's kind of you to say. You too, Dante. Depositing him in his car would have been a bad thing - he could have motored on and hurt himself or some innocent folks, or passed out and get mugged. Or worse for him personally - his car was a bench-seat sedan before headrests were common - he might have sat up and rolled back his head and aspirated his vomit. That can easily be a death sentence. We made sure the kid was lying on his belly when we bid him farewell. If you are of the partyin' age, keep an eye out for folks with heads laid back over couches and chairs. Besides the choking hazard, gastric juices coursing into the lungs can make one go into spasm and shock. Who knows what happens then... A vomiting tip: Pinching the nose to stop spew from going up into the nasal passage works. Problem is, that can also drive stomach content into the lungs. This happened to me. I fell first to my knees and then on my side on the floor, and for five minutes went through the extremely short breath routine, wondering if that was the end. Consider the burning of the nasal passage as just punishment and don't get yourself into a very dicey circumstance.

McCain suspending his campaign
stuckincincy replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not going through 5 pages of posts, Joe - but surely you know the context of that statement has been parsed in "mean-spirited" fashion...he was simply being deprecating. -
He'll be eligible to return this Monday, if Roger agrees and he's been a proper angel. He lost his house and his car because he stiffed the lenders. Whatta guy. Marvin's not too happy after the skinflint owner took his legs out by re-inking Chrissie. Trade bait? I wouldn't put it past the B'gals Owner/President/GM to stick it to Lewis' authority to turn a few bucks... http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...0395/1066/spt02

A friend and me bought tix at the Aud off a drunk Canadian kid - back then, it was 21 in Ontario and 18 in NYS. He asked for 20 apiece, we forked over a 50 and he couldn't figure the change out and handed us back the 50. It was the game against Montreal with the quick OT victory. What was that? 40 years ago? He sat next to us, armed with a pint of vodka to add to whatever he had in him. He pretty much passed out throughout the game, occassionally stirring to shout "Stooges!, Stooges!" - never figured that out - and wanting some food and insisting that he buy for all. We took that, too. He was totally dead after the 2nd period. We hauled him out, put him in our car and checked him into some hotel on S. Elmwood (?) by Hutch Tech HS. We explained the situation to the night clerk, paid for his room - something like 30 bucks so we were well ahead - and took a piece of stationery and drew a "you are here - here is where you watched the hockey game - here is where your car is likely to be - here is where you are from" map, put his car keys on it, and left it in the room, filling the water glasses and placing the bath towels in easy reach. I wonder what happened to the kid - to his credit, he never barfed that I know of.

Paul - any relations in N. Buffalo? If so, I'm a good friend of a George Saleh, who had a brother named Pauly.

Care to edit?

Bless little Roscoe - he went from snow-fearing fairy of the Donohue era, an object of unrelenting, cruel derision - to a vital cog in the 2008 Buffalo Bills Machine.

Could Fred Jackson become our Eric Metcalf?
stuckincincy replied to JK2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll have to wait until I see his cut to the middle, come-back and face the ball on a leap, and take a shot to the kidneys, gut, or chops from a barreling DB that has him in his sights, and then hang on to the ball. That's different than snagging a swing pass near the sidelines or a grabbing a pop pass as a relief valve catcher. -

Minor irritation. Like last season, several team's starters have been dropping like flies. We've been lucky so far. JAX took a big hit in their BUF game, having lost 3 OLs. That's not just losing talent, that's losing a lot of the necessary orchestration. I didn't see the JAX at IND tilt, but I'm guessing the week to tune up their OL replacements - granted against a depleted IND defense, helped. Having a 41 - 19 minute edge in TOP is notable. They held Manning to just over 50% - sticking a fork in the Jags is premature. I credit them for running the ball 49 times. Just an impression - sacks and QB hits seem to be up. I wouldn't be surprised to see some rule changes to stifle the defense. The NFL makes big $$$ off of the allure of marquee QBs - and the cap rules murder clubs that have big money tied up in the QB spot.

Thanks - that's a great idea. I'd add that a call to the Vietnam Vet's organization, or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Matthew 25:Ministries, the Salvation Army, or Goodwill Industries can provide the needed labor. Off-topic - that Australian Tea cake recipe you gave out a few years ago has been passed along and is spreading far and wide!

The resurgence, and craven championing of the behavior patterns of a rodomontade the past few decades, is of more import than the any feelings of shadenfruede, even though the former tends to bring out the latter. BTW, how are you doing, HA? Long time no post...I'm not being snide; I enjoy your comments.

When do you think Charlie Gibson will have Biden on for a no-holds barred 2 hour interview? Aren't you itching to hear Biden's answers and views on things?

The 13 pt. underdog gave 'em a decent tussle. Palmer had 12 completions to Houshmandezeh, and I'm guessing his bum ankle somehow helped him - he kept the ball down and while suffering 6 sacks, he woke up and ran the ball a couple of times instead of hanging in. Dumbness in the last seconds of regulation time byCIN brought the OT, and why CIN blitzed 2 in OT knowing that they were sporting two 2-year players and two rookies as defensive backfield starters all game long is unknown - perhaps idiotic. Well, that's deja vu... The Gint's lb play wasn't notable, to me. Manning had no recorded sacks, but he got his nose bent several times. Being taken into OT by CIN doesn't exactly bode well for their repeat. I'm beginning to think that the AFC North, slapping each other around, squaring off against the NFC East, and facing decent competition in those throw-in games, might crown a 9 - 7 division winner. I can't see at this point, a wild card club from that conference. Which bodes well for BUF.

Who knows? Maybe someday, Mike Brown will fire himself as the B'gals GM. In these days of the socialist NFL, where every dog gets its' day sooner or later, step back and see what an accomplishment it is to go 17 years with only one winning season and one playoff game. Kudos also due to the Card's owner, Bill Bidwell. Their only real rival is the Pirates, cruising towards their 18th consecutive losing season.

Pretty much like I heard - the region is single-sourced, so to speak, by the Houston refineries. I also read somewhere recently, that the EPA is suspending the rules for the so-called "boutique" blends. Those are the special formulations for this or that area.

He's coming out of hiding, and giving an address in Cincinnati today. It's invitation-only, so I expect it will be an orchestrated Softball Festival.

Why it isn't wise to keep the demoted QB as Backup

Here's the obligatory link: http://www.answers.com/topic/hair-shirt It was also used for torture - the shirt was put on the bound victim, who writhed with non-stop skin irritation. -
Funnier still - the words were uttered by Biden.

Emmit laughs at Bills
stuckincincy replied to Cotton Fitzsimmons's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After their loss of 3 starting OLs the game before the Bills, they were able to work the back-ups into the lineup in the week preceding the IND contest. Much of OL play depends on getting the co-ordination up and working.
