  1. Player out of shape...no action in camp...suffers injury...God's Chosen LT...not in camp...whereabouts unknown...physical condition unknown. Connect all those dots I just typed. And...I would think Wallers - who gauge the overall competition for playoff spots, place bets, have fantasy teams - have interest when a team, any team, loses a starter for the season. Right?
  2. Don't forget LB Landon Johnson, who left in free agency. I'm not worried...Mike Brown continues to give fans the johnson.
  3. Johnson - one of the highest-paid fullbacks- reported to camp so overweight, he wasn't allowed to hit the practice field until deep into the preseason schedule. I've no idea if that contributed to the injury, or not. One may speculate, though... With all the hand-wringing about the shortness of an NFL career, one wonders when a player does things like not showing up in shape.
  4. He's a right tackle. Never played anything else.
  5. Same thing I notice at the beginning of every season...how better, and well-prepared, college tv announcers are compared to the juveniles that prattle on and on during NFL games.
  6. I'm always skeptical about these attendance numbers that are tossed out. This weekend in Cincy, there was Riverfest - a one-day event... a very large fireworks show. They are shot off from barges in the Ohio River. It is well-attended, but they claimed an attendance of 500K. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky metro area encompasses 15 counties, with a population of two million. I find it hard to believe that 1/4 of the metro population crowded along a mile stretch on the banks of the Ohio this past Sunday night. That same weekend, a small town in Hamilton County claimed that 200K attended "A Taste of Blue Ash". The annual "Taste of Cincinnati routinely pegs their attendance at 500K.
  7. R.I.P...
  8. 66 - 10 PSU victory over their contracted cupcake?
  9. Having a good blocking FB or H Back, who happen to have good hands, goes a long way against having to pay the prevailing rate for top LT. I agree about the Center.
  10. Be nice...
  11. Bad news...this may impact next year's payoff for selling themselves as an early-season duckpin to the big boys who pay nice cash to pump up their early season rankings.
  12. Sad about things for kids today...hot rod FWD Hondas???
  13. Very nice...351 motor?
  14. Yep...you're right - that was it. I like Billick. I know people give him the business about his offense - but most of his clubs have been competitive, warts and all. He reminds me a bit of Jerry Glanville, somehow. CIN in the days of Sam Wyche used to take turns with HOU running up the score against Glanville . Billick and whatever CIN coaching regime...same thing when possible.
  15. I guess the tax payers with sense enough to not reside in proven risky areas will take another hit in the wallet , then...
  16. I'd like to see how Billick does. He's pretty irascible - I have seen him a lot through the years, with CIN and BAL in the same division. Last year, NE's* Harrison gave him some sideline lip during their game, and Billick stuck out his tongue at him and made "poor baby" gestures.
  17. NOAA downgrades Hanna to a Tropical Storm as of 8 AM: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATC...ml/021156.shtml
  18. This will be my 3rd year of tabulating what games are broadcast in the Cincinnati market. I like to know what the "Powers That Be" decide what is important to me...i.e. what has the best possibility of making their cash registers ring. I've little doubt that DAL and NE* will be foisted upon me again. I expect a lot of Jet ball - Favre Power. GB sans Favre might be a dark horse. "2007 Final results: Listed below are appearances on my tv in the Cincinnati area. Note: PIT playing CIN counts as 2 appearances, not 2 games. I do not vouch for the accuracy of my tally. AFC North – 43 appearances of an AFC North club on tv (CIN's division). CIN - 16 PIT – 11 BAL – 9 CLE - 7 AFC South – 14 appearances. IND – 10. 10 games and countless Peyton Manning commercials. TEN – 3 JAX – 1 HOU - 0 AFC East – 21 appearances. NE* - 10. How nice. NYJ – 4 BUF – 4 (would have been 3 but for the bump of the 2nd NE* game) MIA – 3 AFC West – 12 appearances. SD – 5 DEN – 4 KC – 3 OAK - 0 NFC North - 16 appearances. GB – 6 CHI – 5 MIN – 4 DET - 1 NFC South – 14 appearances. NO – 4 ATL – 3 CAR – 1 TB – 1 NFC East – 32 appearances. DAL – 11. A day without DAL is like a day without the Sun... NYG – 8 WAS – 7 PHI – 6 NFC West – 18 appearances. SF – 7 SEA – 6 AZ – 4 STL - 1 OAK and HOU were shut out here. TB, STL, JAX, DET and CAR only got 1 showing. CHI fell into the toilet. I still remain surprised that GB wasn't rammed down the local throats - a mere 6 games - I am used to 10 or so. The NFC East was relentlessly shown. They remain the non- AFC North King here. They made a miscalculation with those 7 SF games…the ‘niners didn’t pan out."
  19. You're welcome. It's a handy site - credit for finding it goes to another poster here, a few seasons ago. The site owner updates it for coverage changes throughout the week.
  20. I don't think so. But I do think that there have been players that have taken signing bonus money and salary and invested it, then retiring after a couple of years to live off the interest. Not a bad plan, IMO. I can see appeal in getting - I dunno - 70 grand or more after taxes..who knows?...forever. A nice life, opportunity to do work you really like. Plus you have the principal to fall back on.
  21. This useful site, which depicts what games are being broadcast, now includes cities. Click on the city and it displays the local affiliate carrying that particular game. http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/index.html

  23. Here's a list of the many Democrats who were convinced that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. They - like the Bush Administration - heeded information collected by the Clinton Administration... The list is from snopes.com. http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdquotes.asp
