  1. Good post, Shnooks. Agree, disagree, whatever...thanks for spending the time to add your comments. They are appreciated.
  2. All that is so...but that toss of his to Evans was as sweet as they ever come.
  3. If anything, Pete - you are certainly indefatigable!
  4. Mentioning the name would be poor internet ettquette.
  5. One Sunday morning at a grocery store I worked at, showing up before it was open for business, punks with nylon stocking masks broke in through the roof overnight, and one of them stuck a revolver into my temple. Shoved me over to the produce cooler and pushed me in. The morning produce clerk - she was 18 years old same as me - was already in there. We ate grapefruit while listening to them whack the daylights out of the Assistant Manager until he coughed up the safe combination. We were deposed at Precinct 13 on Hertel Ave. I couldn't make a positive identification, but I'm still pretty sure they were 2 of my many N. Buffalo guappo friends I grew up with. Needless to say, I have been an armed citizen ever since.

  7. I'm glad you choose to live. Are you going off again to trek the globe again in search of some more absinthe, or some other valuable goal?
  8. I sure was - when I was young and unknowing. As I aged - and was robbed, swindled, shoved around, cheated, lied to - and that was just the various governments with the power to jail me if I didn't dance when they said dance - let alone actions by my fellow citizens...I wised up.
  9. Yet for stark, sensationalist purpose, you saw fit to mention Mogadishu. Back to the issue you tried to deflect - is Chippawa a safe place for out-of-towners who don't know the lay of the land? You don't live in Bflo. - why did you stick your nose into this in the first place? I don't live there either, since 1978 - I merely posed a question about folks being advised to go to a particular section of town.
  10. That's a very extreme comparison. Is it Detroit? Are these people young and unsuspecting as the young are before reality knocks them in the head and wises them up? Are they loaded with bucks, insulating them and affording them the nice food and the nice, safe spots?

  12. The fellow and his fiance are coming from out of town. Aren't the places you suggest they stay, noted high crime districts?
  13. Update: OH Sec. of State Brunner has to check questionable voter registrations, per full 6th Circuit Federal Court decision. She relied on a 3-Judge panel of left-leaning Judges for her initial win for her party. She certainly, at this point, comes off as one to corrupt the process... http://www.dispatchpolitics.com/live/conte...ics&sid=101
  14. Happy B'Day, gents! 'n lady!!!
  15. Exactly. My Mom went to work, we five kids went out and earned what we could to support the household...shoveling, cleaning windows, weeding lawns, washing cars, whatever. I was raised in that poor household, in poverty but never in squalor. No government handouts back then. And it would have been an unacceptable affront to us if there were. Love abounded, and curiosity was encouraged. It was a time when children were actively protected against the ugliness of the adult world, not exploited or used as political footballs like these days. I have fond memories of the men in the neighborhood - they knew I was without my father, and they guided me and taught me the skills a man needs to learn. My Mom was a very pretty woman - these good men also took pains to identify the sharks in ways I didn't know, and made them clear off. And my teachers...there was a time when the Buffalo Public School System was a shining gem of the Nation. Back then, the main idea of education was the forging of a good citizen. I remember them all.
  16. A P-O'd multi-millionaire. How sad...is there no justice in this world?
  17. Nice post, Dave. It's heartening to hear that the program is working for you.
  18. Sounds like a natural for Accounts Receivable...
  19. When I was 5, I saw my Father writhing in pain with cancer at the hospital for hours, and watched him die. It didn't mess me up.
  20. Did they dump his owed contract $$$ off onto IND ?
  21. Uh...I'd say the undrafted Kitna, who kept his trap shut for years, who graciously bowed out in deference to Palmer after winning Comeback Player honors, who eventually took a job with DET...is allowed to vent a small amount of steam after his 11th year of being adequate enough to earn a roster spot. Even with his small hands. He's now on season-ending IR with the back injury. Even though he was being whiny in wanting to play, as you say...
  22. Cheap at the price, compared to signing 1st round picks. And who knows what will take place when the CBA is voided? Which the players want. They know that they are in line for bigger bucks, what with cities financially hostage to pay off taxpayer funded stadiums for the betterment of a private enterprise. Could be that Jerry decided that this is the last year to make a splash, even with Romo and other injuries. I think that's what the Jets did with Favre - a last grab before it all goes into the toilet.
  23. How many millions of dollars does he still get to assuage his sad feelings about having to rot away in Kansas City? The poor NFL vet...so sad...a national tragedy...
  24. At the I-275/Winton Road interchange in SW OH, the 5 nearby stations (BP, Marathon, Shell, United Dairy Farms, Kroegers') are at $2.63 plus or minus a few pennies this morning.
