  1. How much are your overseas phone costs to Babs and Alec these days?
  2. Did you also track aluminum foil costs?
  3. How's your checkbook balance? This fellow ended up having to post a 60K bond... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2008101...S0107/810160338
  4. That's a heart-felt post if ever I read one, Plenz! Memories...great, eh?
  5. Well, that was a mean-spirited comment. Do you consider yourself mean-spirited?
  6. Two Nuns are toodlin' along in a car on one of those 1-lane country English roads we see on tv and in movies. They round a bend, and there up ahead is a vampire, arms raised, fangs showing, blocking the road. The driver shouts to the other Nun "Sister! Sister! show him your cross!!!" She rolls down the window, and shouts Get out of the %$#$@@! road, ya ^&*$#@g'n git!
  7. Gee..I always wanted a pick-up bed camper. Really. I think the pick-up bed pool is a clever idea.
  8. It's a tough one. On one hand, it's an AFC loss...and not to an AFC opponent. On the other hand, a runaway AFC North team that could go on and smack down AFC North wild card aspirants is useful.
  9. Fan safety issue's back Punching incident came as Bengals already had faced security concerns By Mark Curnutte Cincinnati Enquirer October 23, 2008 "A Miamisburg man who says he was sucker-punched and knocked out Sunday during the Bengals-Steelers game has brought renewed attention the past two days to the conduct and safety of fans who attend NFL games. ..."Reed was seated in the north end zone. Bedinghaus (he was the County Commissioner who pushed through the taxpayer-paid free B'gals stadium and then was hired by the club) said there was increased security in the south end zone Sunday. Vendors did not sell beer in the south end zone stands because of a bottle-throwing incident at that end of the stadium during the Browns game Sept. 28. Beer was sold on the concourse behind the stands and was poured into cups to prevent fans from throwing bottles onto the field. ..."It seems odd, in one group of folks, there is concern about these kinds of things happening," Bedinghaus said. "In the south end zone, where we actually had a spike of unruly behavior during the Cleveland game, we made what we thought was a measured decision to reduce beer vending in that area, and we are being criticized for reducing beer vending in that area."... "It's a balance we're trying to hit, and we're doing what we think is measured and right and will continue to do that." ..."There were eight arrests during the Browns game, two related to merchandise vendors being robbed. Four people were arrested during the Steelers game (omitted here that was in the newspaper report - those 4 were arrested for smoking cigarettes)... ..."We're not as bad as others," Bedinghaus said of fan conduct at Bengals home games compared to other places around the NFL. "But we do think, for Cincinnati, it had gotten to the level where we should take some further action, and we did." Well, they did arrest 4 people smoking cigarettes. That's key. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20081023/SPT02/810230377
  10. Different era... Question was asked, I answered.
  11. With some uncertainty. BTW, your rainbow-farting unicorn comment next door, a few days ago, was a wisecrack well worthy of the late D. Parker!...
  12. A taller Bill Nelsen with better knees.
  13. Waxman's? There's a guy who gets to the bottom of things..
  14. Your thickness and lack of perception is only exceeded by your assured civil service status, my dear apparatchik friend. "People with glass glossaries shouldn't fling euphemisms.". Nor the flinging of affectatious italics hither and yon. Although that particular behavior seems to have subsided recently. Uh Oh. Unsolicited personal shots. Oh My! How about cutting the crap, EII? Punching in a snide assumptive post in support of the words of a third party if you have a beef with me isn't very becoming. Can ya dig it?
  15. Yet, there are always shimmers of hope. We might not be able to do great things, but we can still do small things in a great way. A humble sage once, in passing, told me about the philosophy of personal embiggenment.
  16. No. People can get serious, insidious bone infections sometimes. Amputations, infectious spread with horrible pain, and death.
  17. I remember in the mid 90's in a grocery parking lot, seeing a B'gals ticket stuck on a car antenna in place of the ubiquitous yellow-green tennis ball.
  18. I'm aware of the words of this or that historical Greek. How about my short list? Progress or no? And I was around when Maddux, Faubus, Wallace, and the like were living. You, too. I know what side of the fence brought about the Jim Crow laws. I sweep nothing under the rug.
  19. Did you mis-read my words about people not being angels? Do you view cameras everywhere school shootings gambling casinos ubiquitous anti-theft packaging armed police escorting sports coaches road rage workplace shootings drug violence ripping cities asunder drug use by kids children committing suicide explicit sex on cable tv robbers shooting victims over 25 bucks kids with who knows how many "parents" due to divorce rates grandparents all over the nation raising kids the decline in vocabulary honor roll status by quota states running numbers rackets remedial courses needed for incoming college freshmen rampant cheating doping of kids with ritalin and the like beatings of school teachers political exploitation of young people a billion dollar industry in home security systems and dead bolts huge appetite for foreign goods then casting blame for job loss crude language at every turn huge credit car debt the decline of the newspapers chubby youngsters with heart disease and diabetes people complaining about privacy while happily posting on YouTube, Facebook, etc. ...as progress? This is just my short list...
  20. Sadly, such things can escalate... http://www.nbc4.com/news/8152056/detail.html The perp was sent up for a time that will exceed his lifespan. The downward spiral of society, etc. There's no end of people getting violent for dogs repeatedly dumping on property, pounding a neighbor's ears with loud music and the like. A long time ago, a nephew of mine got justly evicted from an apartment building for just that - he felt the had the absolute right to rattle others' walls with his ground-shaking speakers. An idiot...who didn't wise up until he bought his own house. There are lots of folks that are genuinely surprised that when they trample on others because they feel they have the right to "spress themselves", the other fellow pushes back. The "It's All About Me" philosophy that is prevalent, I suppose, is a contributor. "My Computer". "My Documents". My A**. Not that people in times past were a bunch of angels - human nature being what it is. But deportment in general society was better - if only out of fear of being branded as a bad actor...which could cost you your job. And you got shunned at every turn if you felt that your uttering mouth was the only thing that kept the Earth orbiting the Sun. People say things to each other today that would have been unthinkable 30, 40 years ago. Bringing shame on your family's reputation was a big, big thing.
  21. See my link to the Cincy Enquirer, in a previous post.
  22. That's news to me. Sooner or later, all mankind is domed, but that's another subject. The last time I watched a BB game live - or on tv - was 1990. The sell-off of the Pirates irked me.
  23. The family and she were friends. He was against any filing of charges. Years ago, all across the nation, some folks here and there decided that fences on front lawn were unsightly - or anti-social perhaps. That upturned the sensible adage : "Good fences make good neighbors". I have a corner property, with a 90 x 45 foot lawn on one side. Naturally, there is a path worn diagonally across it, and it is a popular repository of dog sh*t and urine burns, compliments of folks walking their loved one...with those long cable leashes. If zoning laws would permit, I would erect a tasteful, well-maintained fence (not chain link and not treated wood). And doggie could deposit his doo to its' hearts content on the planting strip...
  24. It's the series to decide the top dog. Enjoyable games that used to be played during the day that went bad under artificial light.
