What Would You Guys Think About...............
stuckincincy replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a level of uncertainty about the Bills' future if Wilson passes on. The business is more attractive to potential buyers if the current staff stays put, at least for now, and a new (large) contract for a different HC wouldn't seem wise. The games are still selling out. A new owner will staff up according to his wishes. The adage, "a new broom sweeps clean" applies. Especially so in the sports biz. -

Hey Buffalo, do whatever it takes to get Peppers

DE: Job #1: Contain the running backs. Pick up off-tackle outside cut RB action. String out wide RB play. Funnel plays back to the center and give your DL and LBs a chance to make stops, inside or outside. Elbow a WR in the chops if one presents himself. Job #2: Compress the QB's pocket. Harry the QB. Get sacks. -

That's a 19 year old sled, yall. Engine/tranny/traction belt concerns aside, chassis weldments deteriorate because of stress of long use and cyclic temperatures over time. You've no way to know if this one was launched and crashed down hard repeatedly by previous ownership. Chassis bearings, bushings, metallic or rubber, dry out and wear. A critical control cable may fail even without previous signs of trouble. The steering shaft may catastrophically fail. A runner assembly may fail. Low speed or not - those are serious situations. It's old - what is the repair part status? Availability? Cost? -

If they shoot that wad this year and win the SB - I'd say mission accomplished. -
He and his agent knocked on CIN's door - twice - before season start. Eh. He's a local product - played HS ball in the area. He has a personality like Barry Bonds.

Isn't amazing the number of disjointed fragments the brain collects through the years, on call to spew back with no idea if they makes any sense? I darkly despised grammar. But when I was a captive of the Bflo. Public schools system, pounding it repeatedly into one's head was a big, big thing with them. Nobody escaped. -

My guess is passive voice of the pluperfect tense with some sort of weaving about of agreement with disregard for number and case along with a consistent beat-down of punctuation and several wandering connectives. No? -

How are you coping with all this bad economic news?
stuckincincy replied to Tcali's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've been more or less keeping away form the radio and tv media about this - I do read articles in the newspaper. I admit to being on edge over the situation. I take an early A.M. coffee at the local McD - pretty much a consistent clientele...older like me. I've noticed that the usual level of chit-chat has subdued somewhat. -

IIRC, the last (only) time was the 1.5 billion loan to Chrysler. Which was paid back. 1983 1984? Meanwhile, we have a government forking over $700 billion+ to financial businesses. And still, politicians of every strip complaining about manufacturing jobs in the US going overseas. The US auto companies - who employ hundreds of thousands, and the millions of jobs provided by the vast numbers of supplier- have to go in front of a Congress and beg for what amounts to 4% of what the banks and insurance companies got gifted with. Where were the congressional committees drilling the financial sector? Now we hear words about a "structured bankruptcy" with a certain level of government ownership. I stated a while ago that that was the goal - a government inroad into the means of production. We see today, that the government wants preferred equity stake in Citigroup. BTW, these bailouts have added another $24,000 of already high debt on every man, woman, and child in America. Study up on Rep. Frank - D, on Ginnie and Freddie Mac if you look to assign blame. You surely can't conceive of a bunch of so-called "mean-spirited" Republicans advocating those easy mortgage terms. What happened here, is that with the nonstop onslaught by the Dems, the Left, resulted in Republicans being so browbeaten - when they spoke up, the accusations of racism were said or implied. So the Reps gave up, and stopped trying to save the Dem's bacon. And the citizens that thought that 0% down housing was some sort of birthright. And the ones that sniffed zero interest, then proceeded to run up 2nd mortgage loans based on nothing. Did the banks go along? Sure! Ginnie/Freddie skewed common sense so much, why not? They were prudent for years about not not loaning house money without 20% up-front money. Until the Liberals deemed such as "unfair" People should get a copy of Marx and Engels Communist Manifesto. It's a brief publication. It used to be pretty much required reading. If you would like to read another eye-opener, locate a long out of print publication...Money Creators, by Gertrude Coogan. IIRC it was first printed in 1935.

Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, most manufacturers also got stuck with bigger vehicles in the pipeline when the high gasoline cost hit. Nobody had a crystal ball. That 2 year turnover to retool a plant for GM is pretty close to industry norm. Actually remarkable, it's more or less the norm in the industry world-wide. Compounding manufacturers in, or who dare to sell, in the US market are the never-ending onslaught of government regulations. That's a lengthy subject, worthy of a separate thread.

I have you penciled in for my 50 State quarter collection (Hawaii pending, and then, final cash value = $12.50). So stick around. P.S. I invest 4 bucks in the MegaMillions drawings every week. Your legacy may increase. -

Me? I had a 4 year scholarship, but being young and by definition stupid, I took out one student loan for a thousand bucks which I used to buy a motorcycle. The pay down was something less than $20 per month. -
