  1. Wise guy... Debit card? DEBIT card? Checks? I pay in CASH for most purchases, unless it's an item where I feel I may need the ability to dispute a charge to enforce resolution of a product problem, checks utility bills, med bills, insurances etc. or card if it's an on-line buy. The action of peeling greenies out of a wallet goes a long way towards not making snap purchases. The more things you buy for cash, the less "gotta have it today" junk one buys, the more cash you seem to retain. Which keeps the collectors from showing up at the door, and one from regretting their decision to choose 2000w speakers over heat in the winter. In my experience...
  2. Gringo likes amphibians that need to sun on a rock to get it going.
  3. It generally isn't. It's a team, and not showing up on time is a no-no, a slap to the other players IMO. It's also a useful tool for clubs attempting to keep rein of a bunch of primadonna millionaires. Many think that those incidences that result in a team not starting a starter for the first few plays are meaningless. Not so - player contracts pay good $$$ to players for a game start. Nothing like a bite in the wallet to focus a fellow's attention... I'd like to be given ownership of an NFL team. And I'd put it on the market the next day.
  4. VERY nice...
  5. Seems that Ocho Dinko acted up in class... Only in Bengals' dreams Will self-indulgent Chad finally heed wake-up call? Paul Daugherty, Cincinnati Enquirer 11/21/08 ...The details emerged throughout the day Thursday. Chad overslept and arrived late to a meeting of the offense at the team hotel Wednesday night. Or, Chad was on time, but slept his way through the proceedings. Offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski told Chad to wake up and sit up straight - things you'd tell a third-grader. Chad couldn't deal with that, evidently. He stormed out, chased by Marvin Lewis, who told him to go home."... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2008112...0394/1007/SPT02
  6. I didn't follow his college play, but I agree 100% re a CB that covers well.
  7. Get a stiff-bristle floor push broom. And P&G's DAWN brand dish liquid. Its' formulation makes it the product of choice - it's used all over by road spill cleanup outfits. I'm not touting the product because Cincy is P&Gs' headquarters - it really is a superior formulation. Good luck and scrub hard.
  8. Here are those souls...for doubters... http://www.geocities.com/ohio9reg/9thOhio.html
  9. I can still see him catching a pass and extending a finger to team and fans alike. He was/is certifiable. It was him that caused the b'gals to include a deportment clause in their contracts...bad-mouth, and repay signing bonus. That was despised by the NFLPA and was dealt away for good in the negotiations for the recent CBA. Too bad...Ocho Dinko and other infants on other teams would have found themselves on the outside looking in with empty pockets if those owner idiots (30 out of 32) didn't knuckle under.
  10. The Obama Magical Mystery Tour election campaign railed on incessantly and made hay about the loss of jobs for Americans, about how they would grit their noble teeth to bite companies that move off-shore and dare profit off the downtrodden who become bereft of good American jobs. I've yet to hear the Savior ring in on this...although that placard with the small Presidential Seal slapped on the lectern that says "The Office of The President-Elect" is a nice touch.
  11. Great Grandpaw arranged it. He was in the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Regiment 9, Company B. A 16 year old apprentice carpenter settled in Cincinnati when hostilities commenced. Buncha krauts - the initial regimental commander, Col. McCook, was killed near New Market, AL., and replaced by Lt. Col. Gustaves Kaemmerling. Old Georg got his leg drilled during the Chickamauga and Chattanooga battles while storming Lookout Mountain. Survived as a cripple in the rear echelons to fight again at Mission Ridge TN and Buzzard's Roost, GA. Then drifted north after the war, and married a WNY gal. Her family were Presbyterian abolitionists who were part of the Underground Railroad, so when he wooed a daughter, in their lights his ethical credentials were sterling and was allowed to marry her even though he couldn't work land due to his combat damage.
  12. I'd love to face a team with Vick that would run this "wildcat" 20+ times during a game. I would be able to pencil in my entire defensive game plan on the back of a Burger King cheeseburger wrapper, in 5 minutes tops...
  13. He's returning punts, too. Antonio Chatman - normal returner - was placed on IR after Sunday's neck injury. Risky to use him there, I suppose - but he's decent at it...2 for 27 when called upon against PHI.
  14. Link required - otherwise, you are putting words into the man's mouth. If he said it - well, life's lessons...never talk to the press. For every member that understands context, there are ten that will run amok with any utterance if it polishes their personal and financial knob and if they sniff a chance of getting into the big time. And that's nothing new.
  15. Goes without saying. But down 10 players now - needs must...
  16. That Mike Brown - isn't he something? Talk about knee-capping a coach...
  17. The Dems are holding out for nationalization, a government outright ownership or substantial majority stake in the auto companies.
  18. PS call-up G Nate Livings - LSU - is not bad. I've been recommending him to Bill from NYC via PM for the past 2 years. Of course, not ever practicing with the starters....
  19. Today's hard-charging sports multi-millionaires are on call 24/7. Harsh, I know...
  20. In the good old days...it was a new crisp $1.

  22. Tsk, tsk, Chaddie. You lose start money, perhaps game check. That's 10 players out for poor CIN...LT manned by rookie, LG manned by PS player against PGH's #1 defense, SS manned by who knows... http://www.700wlw.com/cc-common/news/secti...article=4615729
