  1. Ehhh...c'mon. For a lot of folks, this is the 1st Bills' game they will get to see on their tv this season. That's the case for me.
  2. Bills might want to consider U Cinn's DE Conner Barwin. Converted TE. This kid sloughs blocks, gets to the qb, and shuts down wide runs. High motor.
  3. So much for diction...
  4. Yes - I'm surprised that a local hasn't chimed in yet...
  5. You cited the "Weather Channel". Don't trust them - they have no moxie...everything is a tragedy somehow caused by mankind...
  6. The NOAA prediction looks fairly mild - but one never knows. Lake Erie is warm, so if westerly winds kick up in proximity, there would be a potential for problems... http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?C...78.7458&e=0
  7. I don't think he's coming back next season. I watched him in action in a b'gal's game. Very odd..
  8. Good for you, plenz! I have greasy chips, my beloved Milwaukee Ice, a Snickers bar, and squirt cheese staged for the broadcast. Which means little to most, but much to my crappy old low-flow arteries! Go Bills! 1st televised game here! EDIT - I also have a box of Jujubes.
  9. No. If the Bills (or CLE) were up 41 -10 at halftime, the game becomes an uninteresting bore, with the ticking off of the clock being the main thing. An exciting, lead-changing, down-to-the-last-minute game is enjoyable. Regardless of score.
  10. No, I wouldn't think so. CLE is shaping up like some of those teams that surrendered the early victories to BUF - OL injuries, clubhouse in turmoil. CLE had decent leads their last 2 games, going into the 4th, but collapsed. And cold, possibly windy and snowy weather tends towards low scores. It's Quinns' 2nd start. I expect CLE to use their tall receivers in the short, mid game. I'd tend towards safeties or cbs on a blitz. Jamal Lewis still is a powerful rusher - a blitzing LB better get a good, solid angle on him or it's ten or more yards. Not that I wouldn't enjoy a 51 - 49 extravaganza, though!...
  11. I suspect PHI will be looking for a replacement for McNabb next year or the one after. This was a local telecast here in Cincinnati - one would see that he was terrible beyond his stats if you happened to watch his actual play. He easily could have suffered 6 interceptions instead of the three. And their O.C. should be drawn and quartered. 58 passes? B'gals have improved a bit against the run (3rd round rookie from Auburn, Pat Sims, seems to be the real deal) but not to the point that they are a force. PHI certainly has a nice defense. Many players around the ball. They need to find a way to spiff up their O.
  12. I suppose if someone wanted to make the case that some NFL players are somewhat... jaded...this might qualify. ... "No, I didn't know that," McNabb said at his postgame press conference. The 10-year veteran said he was not aware that one overtime is all you get in the NFL in the regular season until the final play of that overtime, when the Eagles tried an unsuccessful Hail Mary pass. He said, "When the play was called, I kind of figured, 'I guess there's ties in the NFL.' " He said, "I've never been a part of a tie. I never even knew that was in the rule book. It's part of the rules and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to the next opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game."... http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles...ask_McNabb.html and ..."As Shayne Graham's 47-yard field-goal attempt slipped outside the right upright with seven seconds left in overtime yesterday, Eagles safety Quintin Mikell celebrated by throwing his arms in the air. He was ready to play the second overtime. "To be honest, I didn't know there wasn't going to be another overtime," Mikell said. "I didn't know it was going to be a tie. I was kind of happy. I thought we were going to get another overtime. After I realized it was a tie, I was pretty ticked off."... http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/200811...o_ugly_tie.html
  13. I shred the personally-identifying stuff and recycle the rest. If it's an outfit that sends piece after piece, I also send their garbage back to them.
  14. According to the radio team here - it would be the 1st tie since 2002. McNabb has been terrible - 28/57, a fumble, 3 ints and might have suffered six.
  15. The local radio team said it would be the first since 2002.
  16. He's been playing well, all things considered. He's a hard hitter...I assume his time out of the league caused an attitude adjustment.
  17. OT...dunno. They've lost SS Ndukwe, LG Whitworth, LT Jones is playing injured. I think Fitzpatrick has been sacked 7 times, perhaps more. They took NYG into OT in game 2, where Palmer went down. If they win, it would be only their second 2 - game win streak in their last 28 games. McNabb's launched 50 so far...
  18. He's struggling today. A fumble, two interceptions, 11/23, 142 yards (44 off a screen to Buckhalter). PHI has five 1st downs, 2 of 7 on 3rd down conversions, and are down 10 - 3 to the 1 and 8 B'gals. Bad news - CIN wr/pr Antonio Chatman taken off the field on a stretcher. Cervical injury. EDIT - x-rays negative. He was on the field for 10 min or so. EDIT - McNabb tosses his 3rd pick.
  19. The purpose of a helmet - be it for football or for motorcycles, racing vehicles etc. - is to dissipate energy, reduce concentrations of energy transfer, and reduce the rate of deceleration. Here is the Snell Memorial foundation site. Snell has been evaluating vehicle helmets for over 50 years...read the FAQ for some insight. : http://www.smf.org/

  21. Very nice - I understand that they will be only importing small numbers of the '09 new TDI. In Europe, diesels are just over 50% in overall new sales - and not just small cars...big BMWs, Mercedes', Lexus, and so on. Not in nanny America, unfortunately. I have familiarity with VW's earlier non-direct injection diesel motors, both normally-aspirated and turbocharged. That motor had wide application...marine usage, free-standing hvac units, and industrial applications. I don't know about TDIs, but in really cold weather, a tip is to turn on the "ignition" to heat the glow plugs. Then turn it off, and pre-heat the plugs a second time.
  22. Bring back Simon Pure !!!!
  23. No doubt. Other patrons would edge away from us, and management would usher us out at last call if we lasted that long. It's always nice to be noticed.
  24. Good 'ol Dean. You 'n me sitting next to each other on stools at a local dive would be...picturesque.
  25. Do you want to toss all their retirees and their agreed-upon benefits, most all of who labored in good faith, into the ditch?
