  1. RR had nothing to do with football decisions, so I don't think Terry is any closer. And besides, he owns the team so he's as close as he wants to be. My concern isn't so much meddling in personnel decisions as much as how this reflects on PSE. "Revolving door" organizations tend to be dysfunctional. I had hope that PSE was entering an era of stability, with all three teams doing well, a new stadium going up and, hopefully, arena renovations on the horizon. Getting rid of a guy who was pretty much the face of PSE with the media out of the blue troubles me. I hope Terry had legitimate reason to do it and was not acting rash.
  2. But there's a way to announce it that doesn't sound like you took someone out back.
  3. Really seems weird.
  4. Running backs need to go in strike.
  5. And guys in striped pajamas with bowling balls chained to their legs?
  6. I'm fine with the Titans getting him. This also has the added benefit of sticking it to the Patriots. Many of their fans thought Hop was signing there. Oh well.
  7. And what exactly is wrong with that? You know who came out of NFL Europe? Fred Jackson.
  8. I'm not that old and I can remember those titles. I just don't get wanting to bring back a look that is tied to a not-so-happy period for the team. What I can recall from the 90's Super Bowl era Bills that isn't different from now is how fans were unhappy about not winning it all. You never fully appreciate what you have until it's gone.
  9. Offseason delerium. Just curious. Have you paid any attention to how the genius and master tactician is doing these days? He's in charge of everything with the Pats now. No one to get in his way, right? Why aren't they winning?
  10. The original Crossed Swords, the Goatheads and the Slugs all had their winning era.
  11. College football is, supposed to be anyway, an amateur sport. You usually only get 4 years of eligibility. Also these programs are in it to win, not serve the needs of NFL teams. They aren't going to play some #4 QB from your practice squad if they don't want to. Except that XFL/USFL isn't 4th quarter preseason football. They are teams with rosters and game plans looking to win games. In fact there's more talent on any of these spring teams than most college teams. As for the networks, they made the investment because they want programming. Spring football ratings were middle of the pack, depending on what channel and time of day, comparable to the most NHL, NBA golf or soccer matches.
  12. Yes. The USFL of the 80's, and the WLAF, the UFL, and so on had TV deals. The XFL and USFL have TV networks as investors! So yeah, it's a lot different. To do what? Take pro players back as amateur athletes? Are you seriously suggesting that?
  13. If you're going to quote history, be sure you are talking about the same thing. Because the USFL and XFL of today bears no relation to the past leagues that failed. First of all, both leagues are partnered with TV networks. XFL with ESPN/ABC and USFL with Fox and NBC. And if the NFL is willing to enter into a player development deal, that's only going to make these leagues even stronger. And before you say "college football is a farm club" you can't send players back to college for more development. You can do it with the XFL and USFL.
  14. Let's bring back everything that reminds us of failure.
  15. If it's going to me a REAL fan experience center, they need to build it in a freezer.
  16. Just heard Steve Tasker made the list of "Senior" Hall of Fame candidates. He's no longer eligible as a "modern era* player.
  17. Any word when the "fan experience" center will be done and when they start hosting season ticket holders?
  18. How about a nice lake front bungalow for in-season? They can snuggle while watching the icebergs pile up on the shore in gale-force winds.
  19. "You allow people to make you miserable."
