  1. The NHL prefers expansion to relocation because expansion comes with a fat fee that was $500MM (Vegas) and $650MM (Seattle.) Houston and Atlanta (believe it or not) are being mentioned. Salt Lake City wants in as do Kansas City, Hartford and Quebec City. But as a Buffalo sports fan, I never relax and think our teams are set. Yes they are...kind of. Any attempt to move the team would incur an $850MM penalty. But the Bills are worth around $4B right now. What would they be worth in, say, Toronto? $6B? $5B for a Toronto NFL team sounds like a bargain. Not saying that's gonna happen. Just that a $1B penalty isn't as big an obstacle as it sounds.
  2. You need to explain this. The last expansion fee was $650MM. If that's stupid, sign me up.
  3. Define losing money. Operating loss? Sabres: Probably. Bills: no way. In the meantime both franchises tripled in value.
  4. Hard to say. There's still concerts and stuff. But the building gets used at least 100 dates a year now.
  5. I had to check. Sabres are actually worth $610MM according to Forbes! A 22% increase in one season!
  6. Yes way. We have the highest ratings for the NHL, but the number of actual viewers is still dwarfed by any other market.
  7. My worry is the Sabres are worth 2X-3X more in any other city. I don't know what their lease situation is but I bet they aren't as tied down as the Bills are. (And the Bills aren't even that tied down when you really look at it.) Both. QC is not getting a team.
  8. And they can say they were professional football players. The worst guy in an NFL camp is still a hundred times better than most of us.
  9. Here's hoping, and hoping they are coached well too. They open at Wisconsin a week from today at 3:30pm. Big Ten TV. Sneaking up on the Badgers would be a great way to start.
  10. I just saw it. Only 2 minutes behind. Psyche!
  11. Don't make any quick bets.
  12. I never got one from last year. Nothing told to me about this year.
  13. Such a douche move by the NFL. Half the value of NFL+ are the preseason games. The thousands we pay for season tickets apparently isn't enough. They want us to spend another $80 for +. FYI I signed up for the free Madden codes and got nothing. They forgot about it. (I don't have a video game player anyway so not a huge deal. I thought I could play it on PC but apparently you can't.)
  14. Diggs upset. Obviously wants out of Buffalo. /s
  15. I don't agree. I think there are equally as effective options that will be cut in a few days.
  16. Sportrac says $1.165MM in 2023. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cba/minimum/
  17. It's an opinion. You're entitled to yours Plausible. You could probably find someone less expensive, younger and about as effective on the waiver wire. What is the vet minimum for a player of his tenure now? $1.075MM? (EDIT: $1.165MM) It doesn't mean he won't hold out for a little more.
  18. "Healthy" and "Jason Peters" don't go together.
  19. I didn't say that would happen. Only that performance we saw, if that was what the Bills were week in and week out, would be.
  20. He won't be worth what you'd have to pay him as depth. Yes. Whether he was worth it or not, it was a BS me-me move he pulled after signing a new deal with the Bills. So what do you expect for your money from such a level of commitment? He's got to know blocking schemes, run plays, etc. Again, if you are going to pay millions for a player, a little commitment to the job would be nice.
  21. How is he supposed to learn the play book? At least Bruce knew it.
  22. The fact that he hasn't signed yet tells me it's about money, not about wanting to play. If he was serious he'd be in a camp now.
