  1. Serious question about a loophole in the rules ... why was that a touchdown? Possession is not established by a receiver until both feet are down ... Hogan never touched his feet down in the end zone. Is there something I'm missing?
  2. It was interesting to hear the commentators belittle McD for waiting until Carolina lined up before calling TO at the end of the game, but when Carolina did that on the Bills' last drive, it was a smart play by the coach. McD made the smart play.
  3. Wasn't that a lateral a couple plays back? He threw it backwards out of bounds ...
  4. No, he would fall down and injure himself on the flag without being touched ...
  5. To be clear, Flutie was the 24th rated passer in 1999. He didn't lead us to the playoffs, we got there because of a dominant defense in spite of Flutie's play. Was he the better option? Probably ... but we didn't get there because of him.
  6. Averaged less than 200 yards per game through the air ... but he also brought 22 yards per game on the ground ... wasn't he great?! Just because he had more durability than Glass Johnson doesn't mean that he is all that.
  7. My friend's wife was an ER XRay nurse on duty at the hospital when Thiesman came in ... pretty cool story for her to tell. She got to help read the film. That and my friend got peed on by Jim Kelly in the high school locker room after football practice one day. Cool story, bro ...
  8. Tallinn is a beautiful place, but the time I was there in January ... we only had about 2 hours of daylight. Any home playoff game is a night game ....
  9. I know Gordon (Kim's brother). Very cool guy, talented musician himself.
  10. I'm not sure the Cardinals can express interest in a player under contract with another team ...
  11. They ran the end around fake a few times inside the Miami 20 during the game, including the go ahead drive (I think). My thought was that was stupid to do in the red zone, even dumber when they didn't fake it.
  12. Absolutely! They needed to treat it like four down territory
  13. The snow game in Cleveland was 8-0 IIRC ... the 6-3 one was in Buffalo, I sat in the end zone for that painful JV game.
  14. Smartest play of the game, actually. It shows he knows the rule book. Once the Bengals touched it, the worst that would happen is we get the ball at that point. If he picks it up and fumbles it and the Bengals return it for a touchdown, we get the ball where they last touched it before Tate picked it up. Unusual rule, but always been the case. At least one of the announcers knew the rule.
  15. The best answer in my mind is found in his CFL days. Flutie set records there. He won the Grey Cup three times, Grey Cup MVP three times, CFL MVP six times ... all in seven years. It sounds amazing until you understand that he did it with three different teams. There was something about him that made teams want to unload him, even as he was the best in the league there at that time. From what I could see ... it was ALWAYS all about him and proving everyone wrong about his height. He was not a team player.
  16. What about the last play of the game? I haven't seen any comments about that yet ... Powell was absolutely flattened by Sherman ( I think). Not sure how to post the video, so I'll link youtube ... https://youtu.be/juyz33D4V-k
  17. I understand the objective nature being the reason it's allowed. The reason I brought it up was there were a few posts about not being able to challenge a penalty ... I just wanted to say, 'yes, you can' and highlight how inconsequential it often is compared to holding or PI.
  18. Yet ... you can use replay to challenge 12 men on the field, even if they were running off to the sideline. As far as penalties go, that is probably the least impactful penalty but you can challenge it. Sounds like a concession for Brady when they do the quick snap QB sneak just in case they don't make it.
  19. If such a perfect fit, why play Gabbert for the first five games ...?
  20. I just think back to the first Jet possession. We had them stored on 3rd, but for a phantom penalty. Fitz was running for his life. IIRC, a fumble or two that they recovered. There seemed to be one flukey big gain, plus the penalty on third ... And we lost the edge.
  21. That leads to another question. The few times that I've heard the refs say that another penalty will lead to an ejection, it's always been about taunting after the play. Why wouldn't they do the same after vicious late hits and unnecessary roughing penalties? If they really are concerned about safety. Nope, but throw a ball at another player twice and you're ejected ,.. doesn't make sense.
  22. How many times does he need to tell us that the punter stands 15 behind the LOS? It was like he is on a crusade to count punting yards like we measure FGs ...
  23. I'll hopefully be watching today from Haiti ... It's already 80 this morning.
  24. I cannot listen to WGR stream outside North America. It is always blocked.
  25. Hard work, dude, you wish me a birthday every year. Thank you!
