Cincinnati had half of their starting offensive line out and still whipped Buffalo in the playoffs. Baltimore was missing their best receiver and didn't use that excuse after losing to Buffalo. Using injuries as an excuse is a losing mentality. Bringing up injuries as a reason for losing year after year is an excuse, whether some admit it or not. Either get the job done or figure a way to improve, period.

My only gripe would be that maybe 1st round is high for him since he is basically a run stuffer with limited pass rush ability. Maybe I am totally off on that evaluation. He would not be the worst pick for sure, but feels like a reach to me. If it was a choice between him or an undersized edge, I would rather have him.

I tend to agree with your overall points. Especially the last paragraph. I think finding another WR is important to give Josh someone to throw to on the boundary, so we don't need to grind out three and four yards at a time and need to convert fourth downs all game. Don't think it has to be a 30 million dollar WR. Would love a guy like Metcalf but his price is likely too high. Just disappointed in Kincaid. Nobody other than Cook really made a play for Allen. Overall, the defense needs to make things tougher on opposing offenses in the playoffs. That is indisputable, imo.

Grant, but I don't think he will still be there. He's a guy I would love the team to pick up if available. If not, one of the next highest rated defensive tackles would likely suffice. If Revel Jr is there, perhaps him.
-
A pass to Shakir on that fourth down was not a sure first down at all. That is a false assumption. There were a lot of yards to pick up and KC defenders ready to go after him if the ball went that way.

Don't know what the perfect answer at WR is, but I think paying Shakir 20 million a year seems insane to me.

Let's be honest, Josh probably has 5 good seasons left
tigerthelion replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think it's that far fetched. Hope he has more like 8 to 10 top years left, but not everyone can be elite in their mid to late thirties. I agree with the idea of the team going all in for the next five or six years. You can't just assume Allen's health is a guarantee and you can't assume he will be elite at 36 or older. You can hope, but maximizing the resources while he is the middle of his prime is the way to go, I think. That does not mean trading all your draft picks, but it means void years on contracts and trading some premium picks for top talent if need be. Having said that, Allen is a freak and it would not shock me for him to be a top five QB into his late thirties. -
I think part of the problem is also that Josh Allen running into 320 pound monsters to eke out fourth down conversions is making things more difficult on offense than it needs to be. Maybe the Bills don't need a 30 million dollar WR, but having Josh wreck his body over and over isn't ideal , either. Some sort of legitimate outside threat could save some of those fourth down Josh Allen tumbles, and perhaps mean more first downs, more room in the middle of the field.

Would You Consider Getting Tre if Cut By the Ravens ?
tigerthelion replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, Tre is washed. Keon Coleman was about the only guy that Tre could stay glued to last year. -
Even a top 15 defense might be enough if Allen keeps being Allen. Just not being complete walkover in the playoffs might be enough. The playoffs being the key word. Being a top 10 d in the regular season means nothing when there is no resistance in the playoffs. Even just to make the other offense have to work a bit to score, and not giving up 10 yards a play. I don't think the team needs to be a top five unit to win, assuming the offense does not collapse.
-
I wouldn't mind trading him if the cap issue didn't exist. Have to keep him because of that alone, I think. Hope I am wrong, but I expect him to be significantly injured at some point this upcoming year. He just can't stay healthy. Best to keep him, hope he plays well and hope he stays relatively healthy.
-
I am not that familiar with him. What does he expect to make? Is he worth 9 or 10/year? I don't know enough about him to know the answer to that question. Seems like money would be better spent at CB, based on my gut feeling, though. I think a CB is more valuable to the defense overall.

I'd rather sign a free agent corner for the money Holland is likely looking for, if they are looking to improve the secondary.

Full List of Bills' Current Selections in 2025 NFL Draft
tigerthelion replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane should find a way to make the money work with what he has to play with and get proven difference makers into Buffalo. You can't just hope the Colemans and Bishops work out. Every year should be win now mode for the next five years at least. Obviously , you can't just sign every top free agent and you have to hit on some draft picks, but you can't keep striking out in the first three rounds of the draft. Let your own guys go if they area asking too much. Stop paying the kind of money they have paid to guys like Epenesa and Knox and Oliver. Let those guys walk if they are not going to make plays when it matters. Oliver played pretty well this year in the playoffs, but I think you could have let him go, replaced him cheaper , and not noticed much of a difference on defense at all. -
Allen has torn apart the KC defense quite a bit. What he never had was a defense that held KC to under ten points.

Should the Bills go all in this off-season?
tigerthelion replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Go all in for elite talent, which means not overpaying good , but not great talent already on the team. Nobody on the d line is a difference maker in all honesty. Groot should likely be let go after next year since an extension will likely be an overpay. Treat him like they treated Tremaine, imo. I don't even see Bernard as a must sign either. Good player, but not a difference maker. With him in or out of the lineup, KC still marches up and down the field at will. -

Why is Mahomes still in the game? Garbage time to make his stats look respectable. 😆 -

Eagles do look unstoppable but they were a few Stafford completions away from losing to the Rams. -

Pressure with 4 up front is the way. Constant pressure from Philly without blitzing. Win in the trenches. -

Barkley has been a non factor in this drubbing. What a beating. Patty pretty much lost it with those two reckless interceptikns in the first half. -

That may be the most dominant half of defense I have seen. Men against boys. -

Wow. Is this a repeat of Tampa? Mahomes looks lost.
