  1. He is aggressive with going for 4th downs. He isn't very creative, though. He is probably thinking about doing another QB sneak as we speak.
  2. That Kevin Cole character referencing defense in support of Mcdermott? What does the EPA for the defense look like in the playoffs? Regular season stats are basically meaningless at this point. Beating up on the Jets, Pats, Jaguars, etc of the world in the regular season means little when facing legitimate offenses in the playoffs. If nothing significant changes, we will be having this exact same discussion next year. Maybe that means keeping Mcdermott but making significant changes on defense with scheme and players. Maybe that means Beane getting help with the draft. Something has gotta change. Getting decent players but no difference makers won't get it done. You need to find some Mcduffies instead of Elams. Maybe Beane needs to go. Something has to change. This status quo is not working. Hanging onto the Epenesas of the world won't get it done. Cut them loose and get better talent and a better scheme, even if that means cutting guys learning on the job. There is no time to learn on the job.
  3. So, Dan Orlovsky says it's preposterous to let Mcdermott go and then goes on to talk about how they need an actual, legitimate WR, one or two difference makers in the secondary, and another game changer on defense. Do you trust Mcdermott and Beane to fill those holes? Find those difference makers? You gotta believe that Mcdermott has a big say in the defensive players drafted, at least. How many game changers on defense has the team drafted or signed in the last eight years?
  4. Exactly. Just look no further than the Eagles. They seem to sign whomever they want. Every year I hear about how the Chiefs are up against the cap and are gonna be weaker in the upcoming season. Just saw it on here in one of the other threads. Yet, they manage to keep signing guys and stay on top. We got into cap trouble because of Von, yes, but also because of dumb decisions to extend Diggs at that amount along with overpaying average players like Epenesa. If you are going to pay, pay for quality. You won't hit on every free agent but you keep trying. Howie Roseman has stuck out on a few free agents, but that team is stacked and he is always active, never afraid to bring in new talent. If you are going to spend money, don't spend it on a mid thirties guy at the back end of his career. Get a guy in his prime and if he fails, so be it. Can't win by playing it safe. Last year's draft bothered me because there seemed to be no urgency to move up in the first round at all. Maybe nobody would trade with Beane. I admit that I was not in the draft room. Just a gut feeling that they were content getting a consolation prize at WR. I doubt it would have taken a first rounder, but even if it did, it would have been worth it. Would have filled a big hole on the team.
  5. Mcdermott has too much pride for that, unfortunately. I think that's a big reason why the last two coordinator searches were not real searches at all. I don't believe there was a concerted effort to find the best candidates. Rather, they went with inexperienced coaches who were a lot easier to scapegoat. Bringing in an experienced coordinator would mean briniging in someone who may intimidate Sean Mcdermott or perhaps challenge his systems. I don't believe there is room for two big names on the coaching staff. I don't believe Sean Mcdermott has much flexibility at all in his defensive system. He's very stubborn. I know this opinion will not be shared by many, but that doesn't mean it has no merit.
  6. In no universe does Keon Coleman have number 1 receiver potential. No way, no how.
  7. That might become his legacy. Thing is, nobody ever said that Mahomes or Brady needed to be "Superman". Therein lies part of the problem. I think Josh could be a little more calm at the end of some of these games, but I am still not sure if he is put in a position to succeed like those guys were. Tom Brady always had short passes to White or could throw to Gronk and just let him ***** the ball. Josh McDaniels had Welker running wide open. Maybe part of it is that Allen is not manipulating the defense as well as the other guys, but I am just not sold that he has ever had a real, brilliant co-ordinator yet. A lot of his great plays are still because of him making something happen out of nothing. I just don't see the easy options for him as often as a Brady or a Mahomes or a Lamar. Look at the last pass by Mahomes to end the Bills game, for instance. Wide open. Catch. Ballgame. Just too easy. I would not put Josh Allen at the same level as Brady or Mahomes, don't get me wrong. I definitely don't put Brees in their category, either. Brees had stacked teams in New Orleans and managed to squeak out one SB win, so good for him, but I don't put him as a step above Josh Allen. Did Brady really deserve a score against the Raiders in one of those runs? Or did the NFL throw the Pats a bone on a completely unfair call, to allow Vinateiri to kick a field goal in a blizzard? Anyway, maybe I am being defensive about Allen. I fully realize that. Just don't think he's ever going to be a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or even Mahomes type, mentally. I think he is more than good enough to win mulitiple Super Bowls in the right situation, though. Feel that way about Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow also. They are all plenty good enough to be champions with the right help and the right team around them. If Josh Allen never reaches the level of Mahomes or Brady, I am ok with that. It is almost impossible right now for him to actually reach their levels as far as I can tell, especially if Mahomes wins again this year.
  8. If Diggs truly wanted to win, he should have shown up in the playoffs instead of his usual disappearing act. If what you say is true, does that mean that these are the receiving weapons Josh wanted? You think he wanted to throw to covered receivers with questionable hands and no speed? If Josh Allen had that much control, you don't think he would have wanted a bit better than Mack Hollins, Keon Coleman, and Amari Cooper?
  9. No creativity whatsoever. Nothing fooled KC. Look how hard Cook had to fight at the goal line. Nothing easy. They seemed to know what play we were running way more than a defense really should. Trying to out-physical the more physical team.
  10. Hope you are wrong, but can't really disagree much with that. The Chiefs know they will win, while the Bills are hoping they might be able to escape with a win. Even with Allen, who is just about the only reason these games are close, you can see that he still has that doubt. The players will be wound even tighter if they meet again in next year's playoffs. Mcdermott may pass out on the sidelines from being so nerved up.
  11. You have any idea who signed Diggs to that ridiculous extension? I may have to Google it, but do you know off hand who signed Von Miller to that huge contract, also? Gee, what a shock that an old Von Miller gets hurt. Old players are never risky to sign to huge contracts. Any idea who wasted money on that washed up O-lineman (Collins) in the offseason who didn't even make it to the roster? Or MVS, who contributed nothing to the team? Another big signing was Edwards at safety. All money well spent. The overpays to Dawson Knox and Epenesa? More money well spent. The "I'm glad he ran a slow 40" mindset to gloat getting their "guy" in Coleman, who was a net negative down the stretch. Beane did anything but a masterful job. He got the team into this cap mess in the first place with the bloated contracts. His next big extension will likely be overpaying another good, but not great player in Rousseau. Having the second best QB in the conference is a huge win for any franchise. Plenty of teams have won championships with far less at QB. Can the Bills figure it out and upgrade the talent and coaching? We will see.
  12. Yes, the Bills had the ball for a potentially game winning drive at the end. Yes, Josh maybe could have handled it better. Yes, Mahomes may be the better QB, especially in end of game moments. I just want to see another Bills player step up in the moment. Make a play for your QB. Even if he isn't quite on Mahomes' level, make a play to get the team over the hump. Does anyone think that, in the same scenario, Kelce would drop that ball? For all the hand wringing about Josh Allen being "unclutch", there were plenty of times that Mahomes, Brady, Manning failed. No QB is perfect. I know that Tom Brady had a hell of a lot of help on those teams, that's for damn sure. We have seen Josh Allen be as clutch as anyone in other games. His play against the Chiefs in the 13 second game was as good or better than any Montana game or Brady game. Everything is black and white in these discussions. In reality, a lot of factors go into winning or losing at the end. If Mahomes' receivers drop balls at the end of games, would that be an indictment on him? What if Butker misses the field goal in the 13 second game? Does that mean Mahomes wasn't clutch? If he doesn't have Chris Jones on his team, would his defense be stopping these teams in the 4th quarter drives? Was Lamar Jackson "clutch" when he almost single-handedly lost his team the game in the first half? So, his one drive at the end with the Bills basically in a prevent defense completely redeems him? Did Josh Allen not will his team to a touchdown with a ridiculous fourth down pass to Samuel in the 4th quarter? In the end, I don't care if Mahomes is better than Allen. At some point, somebody has to make a damn, memorable play for the Bills other than Allen. Make a tough catch, a crazy run, something. Far lesser quarterbacks than Josh Allen have won Super Bowls. I'd love him to be perfect all playoffs. If he isn't, I'd love for someone to bail him out, which never happens. Allen and Mahomes have basically played on even terms in their matchups, for the most part. This isn't like a Jared Goff throwing picks all over the field or Thurman Thomas fumbling the ball all over the place.
  13. Cooper was an absolute bust for the team, no question. Made very little impact whatsoever. Maybe he is washed. Coleman didn't even deserve to be on the field based on his play over the last few months. Never would have thought that Mack Hollins would be the guy making the big plays in the playoffs for this team. Really thought Coleman was showing glimpses of potential earlier in the year, but he just sunk to awful levels. Made Gabe Davis look like Jerry Rice. Also, as has been mentioned, James Cook was off the field for way too long. Win or lose, go down with your best guys.
  14. The o-line did not play as well as I expected. That was a huge factor, in my opinion. Josh Allen seemed rushed most of the night. Everything on offense was a struggle and he had to throw dimes to Hollins, Shakir and Samuel to keep up.
  15. Funny how the Chiefs were in a "rebuild year" two years ago and won a Super Bowl. Always "next year", eh?
  16. There is just a generally faulty line of thinking when it comes to Allen. There is this expectation that he has to be perfect for the team to win. Mahomes had his defense bail him out of last year's Super Bowl, but I don't hold that against him. Mahomes sets the standard. Whether Josh is on the level of Mahomes or not is irrelevant to me. All I know is that Josh Allen is more than good enough to win a championship. Any of the top five qbs in the league are good enough, with just a bit of help along the way. This nitpicking every little play and pass and protection call is a waste of time. Get more studs on offense or defense or whatever. Just get difference makers on the field. Josh Allen should not have to be the undisputed number one QB in the league to win a championship. He is plenty good enough. He is much better than guys like Stafford (sb champ) and Hurts (soon to be 2nd sb appearance).
  17. Brian Thomas Jr was the guy to get if a trade up was available. Pretty good track record for LSU receivers in recent years, too. Coleman does not have much of a ceiling at all, imo.
  18. I am just glad we got to see all the offensive plays that the team was hiding and saving for the playoffs. All the talk by fans was about how Brady was calling a vanilla gameplan late in the year and the team was saving Cooper to unleash him against KC hahahaha. What a masterclass in offensive wizardry.
  19. Apparently, some people do believe that, as crazy as it sounds.
  20. Kincaid and Coleman for sure. Both had a negative impact today. Bills are stale. No creativity at all. How many qb sneaks do you need to be stuffed on before calling a different play? Complete madness.
  21. Can't wait for Beane to overpay Rousseau.
  22. Guess the team needs to hire someone who can evaluate talent a bit better.
  23. Beane and McDermott should both be gone. They have had more than enough time with this team. However, Pegula makes decisions based on his emotions rather than his head so here we are. Fans who want to keep both Beane and McDermott are obviously happy with never making a SB appearance. Like the Bills brass, they are happy with the status quo and scared of change.
  24. Maybe genius McDermott should become a better judge of talent then. You think he doesn't have a huge hand in the roster building?
  25. Mack Hollins was his biggest wide receiver weapon lol. Cooper was a bust, Coleman was useless for much of the year. Offensive line got abused at times today. Kincaid can go, and he would be no big loss. Just can't believe they thought a tush push would carry them to the SB. How many plays do they run on offense? Like, six or seven? Anyone schemed open tonight like Worthy was? Allen had to throw insane bullets between defenders to get his guys the ball.
