The first nite at dinner , a local banker who I'd never met said "I know you're a liberal but I'm a conservative Republican". I said "cool, let's not talk politics" and we didn't. And we got along great. He and his wife told us lots of interesting stuff. They were interested in our nonpolitical stories as well.
