  1. What hasn't really been proven is the bolded... which is not the same thing as saying I don't believe the theory... it just hasn't been proven by any known studies. If you make the argument that high ceiling/low floor guys have the same success rate as high floor/low ceiling guys, then it obviously makes a lot more sense to draft the former. Furthermore if you accept the above notion it then can be argued that even if the success rate is a BIT higher for high floor/low ceiling guys it still makes sense to draft high ceiling/low floor guys.
  2. I would really have to see what the data outcomes are for the 54th overall pick in the NFL draft is before I called Epenesa a bust.
  3. Yeah, more likely the case seeing as people don't smoke anymore.
  4. Yes they have been poor this preseason but color me unconcerned. As @GunnerBill mentioned at 83 players there's a combo of avoiding injuries and seeing where fringe players fit in. A lack of cohesiveness in special teams is common across the league in the preseason. No one's mentioned how good Harty looked yesterday on his 3 punt returns. He didn't break any but you could see his fearlessness, elite agility, and vision upfield. If he has that role and stay healthy he's gonna be an excellent punt returner. He's averaged almost 10 yards per return over his career. Harty also looked good from scrimmage. IF he stays healthy which is a legit concern, I'm pretty sure he's going to outproduce and outplay what Isaiah McKenzie gave us last year. People on this board overreact to everything the Bills do. I was also glad to see the resurrection of the short passing game. Contrary to belief, Josh Allen is a very accurate short thrower. He can flick his wrist and place balls horizontally very effectively. His completion percentage went down last year (adding to the myth that he's not an accurate thrower) because of the throws he was trying to make on a constant basis. I still don't know if Dorsey doesn't reign Josh in enough or if Josh has too much leash or if they're both fixated on the big strike but this offense needs to use the horizontal Brady-type game more to open up the throws downfield. Overall they'd be a much more effective offense with a little more restraint.
  5. Congratulations @JakeFrommStateFarm!!!
  6. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/garrett-mcghin/32004d43-4733-4413-1166-ffe5aed6ae48 If I'm reading PFR correctly he's appeared in 2 games with 7 special teams snaps. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McGhGa01.htm
  7. I'm as concerned about the OT situation as anyone is. That said most fans have a tendency to overreact (i.e. - Barkley is better than Kyle Allen) so there's certainly a chance that the OT play will round into form by opening day and that we're overreacting in the moment.. As for the MLB situation I'm still not that concerned because I think they'll either scheme an adequate answer or maybe come up with a personnel solution. I do feel like Taylor Rapp or Dorian Williams will somehow be a part of the answer. What I'm actually very concerned about right now is how poorly the Bills interior D-linemen looked against Pittsburgh. DaQuan played well last year but he seemed to have a poor outing on Saturday. Ed Oliver... well he's Ed Oliver... a player with clear strengths and weaknesses. Settle played through some injuries last year and the jury is out on him. Jordan Phillips is recovering from injury. When he's healthy he's an asset but will he become more dependable as he gets older? And is it possible that Poona Ford is a declining player? Their play against the Steelers was disheartening and if the interior D-line can't play at an above average level, it won't matter much who's playing MLB for the Bills. I also wonder how well the D-line is coached. It seems like the interior guys often lose containment in making vain attempta at applying pressure and this habit of not being in front of the QB opens passing lanes. If they're not going to apply pressure then they should settle for keeping the QB in the pocket and keeping their hands in the passing lanes. Pickett looked like he was doing 7 on 7 drills. His throw to the TE to beat Milano was made easy by the failure of the D-line.
  8. I'm not absolving Haskins of personal responsibility in his own death but obviously (thanks Marrone), the partial settlements indicate that the plaintiff lawyer's allegations had/have some merit.
  9. From PFT: "The Haskins estate alleged that Patino drove the dump truck that struck Haskins in a negligent manner, by operating it carelessly, exceeding the posted speed limit, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to maintain the brakes on the truck, failing to maintain the tires on his truck, failing to make necessary repairs to his truck to keep it roadworthy, failing to regularly inspect the truck, overloading the truck, and failing to avoid hitting Haskins when he was visible and avoidable. The complaint joins Diaz and Sorrel Enterprises as the owners of the dump truck. The Florida Department of Transportation faces claims relating to the condition of the roadway where the collision happened, with specific allegations that the DOT exercised negligence in allowing the roadway to obstruct the vision of drivers, and that the employees and agents of the DOT placed a traffic signal board along the roadway that further obstructed the vision of drivers, failed to provide necessary street lighting, failed to post a reduced speed limit, and failed to inspect, maintain, and remedy the issue of reduced visibility in the vicinity of the incident. The “John Doe” defendant is the contractor of the DOT that allegedly failed to make the roadway sufficiently safe. Ace Rent A Car has been sued for providing Haskins with a rental car that was “unreasonably dangerous and hazardous because it was mechanically damaged and ran out of gas,” which caused Haskins to leave the truck and enter the dangerous highway traffic. The Wyndham Garden Hotel Boca Raton has been sued for allegedly “allowing patrons to use drugs and to drug other patrons, including [Haskins], even when Defendant’s own employees were in attendance and observing same.” The same claims are made Drive Shack Palm Beach, Blue Anchor Pub and E11ven Miami, regarding drug use and the drugging of other patrons. Joey Smith, Meriem Yassine, Wissal Yassine, and Karlee Peyton are accused of “drugging [Haskins] to blackmail and rob him.” The fact that the lawsuit names specific names as to drugging, blackmail, and robbery suggests that sufficient evidence exists to proceed against them specifically. If there was any real doubt about the identity of the persons who allegedly drugged and blackmailed/robbed Haskins, they presumably would have been joined as John Doe defendants — as the DOT contractor was. Attorney Rick Ellsley recently explained in a statement that the Haskins estate has “recently reached a combined settlement with the truck driver, the truck owner, and the truck broker,” and that "[s]ettlements with various other parties have been previously secured.” This means that the claims against Patino, Diaz, and Sorrel Enterprises have been resolved. Ellsley’s statement did not specifically identify the other defendants with whom a settlement has been reached. “The case continues to proceed in Broward County Circuit Court against multiple other defendants,” Ellsley said." https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/inside-the-dwayne-haskins-wrongful-death-civil-complaint
  10. Not until January. Does this mean Josh has broken up with Jerry Seinfeld's sister? Mmmmm... bias or reverse-bias aside, Ruben couldn't carry Peters' Gatorade bottle.
  11. Do you have any context for the 70? I have no idea what that means.
  12. HOLY ZHITNIK!!!!!
  13. I remember you saying that you were the one that yelled "Go Kevin" distracting Kolb to the degree that he didn't notice the rubber mat and slipped on it, thus injuring his knee. Thanks.
  14. So we should say the above not because we care about the person, but just to be superstitious? I'll call your Pine Bluff and raise you a Little Rock...
  15. Counter argument: The Bills first team offense gets no live work and comes up flat in an opening day loss to the NY Jets and their excellent defense. Bills start 0-1. TJ is gonna be coming... but the Bills know this. He will actually be game-planned for. I understand the apprehension of all those against Josh playing vs Steelers but a pro team, especially one of the stature of the Bills shouldn't be playing afraid. I could see where they might agree on things like scheme, blitzes, etc but neither man would promise to go easy from an intensity standpoint. No NFL Head Coach is wired that way and both of these guys are ridiculously competitive. Primanti Brothers down there anywhere?
  16. With the caveat that he stay healthy. Harty has played just 36 out of a possible 66 regular season games in his career. He's actually a longshot to stay healthy all season.
  17. I'm just going to go on the record to say that: I don't think Edmunds will be missed much. The Bills LB situation is not going to be a major factor in the outcome of this season. The biggest factor in the performance of the Bills D will be the switch in DCs which will have a large positive effect.
  18. Exactly Rocky. The moral of the story isn't that Kyle Allen played well... it's that you (@White Linen) were expecting him to look worse. Your spelling is off.
  19. Yep. The bounce to the outside looked like nothing but he covers more ground than most RBs when he does it. Teams that lose outside contain on him are toast.
  20. I had no clue either though like many here I don't usually go looking for photos of scantily clad NFL players. You ain't the only one...
  21. Actually you were an apologist for Kyle Allen pointing out his relative inexperience in this system. I accurately qualified your statement by pointing out that he's entering his 6th season. Both are equally true.
  22. Would they make the dots smaller or just cut it into a half round? If they made them smaller would it be based on diameter, circumference, surface area? I'll take your opinions much more seriously as soon as you change out of that ridiculous green outfit.
