Bill Bergey Joins the Choir Eternal
Sierra Foothills replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall
From Wiki: Filming Planes, Trains and Automobiles began filming in February 1987 and lasted 85 days. It was filmed mostly in Batavia, New York, and South Dayton, New York. A scene that takes place in St. Louis was filmed at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. There was also a scene in Braidwood, Illinois, at the Sun Motel, as well as a scene in Woodstock, Illinois, where the city's old courthouse was shown. Bill Bergey The Pride of South Dayton, NY -
To those insisting on holding his poor playoff record against him... yes Lamar's history is not stellar but be careful what you wish for (or don't). It looks to me like Josh and Lamar are on a crash course with the expected collision on or about January 18th. Firstly Josh Allen is my favorite athlete of all time and I would take him over any other QB because of a combination of how I feel about him and what a great player he is. That said, like Simon above, I'm also guilty of judging Lamar... a premature and "permanent" judgement that Lamar has proven wrong. Though Derrick Henry has complicated the evaluation somewhat, there's absolutely zero doubt in objective minds that Lamar has improved every year and become one of the top 3 QBs. In 7 games in his NFL career, Lamar has thrown for more TD passes than incompletions. This is an NFL record. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees accomplished this 6 times. Josh Allen has accomplished this feat exactly twice. Mahomes has done it three times. This is a feat that cannot be done by anyone other than an elite passer. And those saying that Mahomes is overrated are either oblivious or dishonest. Anyone who saw the Steelers game exactly 2 days ago knows Mahomes is as great as ever... or they don't understand the game of football.

Bill Bergey Joins the Choir Eternal

Thank you very much for posting this. I was hoping someone would. Also the same corner of the world which brought us Shane Conlan (Frewsburg). In fact Bergey attended Pine Valley High School which is a rival of Frewsburg. For those not familiar, South Dayton is virtually next to Gowanda, the village that straddles Erie and Cattaragus Counties. South Dayton is where some of the scenes from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was filmed. It's also on the edge of WNY Amish Country. In addition to his highly-decorated collegiate career, Bergey was: AFL Defensive Rookie of the Year A member of the Cincinnati Bengals All-Time Team A member of the Philadelphia Eagles HOF A 5-time Pro Bowler back when the Pro Bowl actually meant something A 5-time All Pro (twice 1st Team, three times 2nd Team) Tied for 10 all time among LBs with 27 career interceptions Runner up to Mean Joe Greene for 1974 Defensive Player of the Year He played in the era where RBs were the biggest stars on offense and MLBs the biggest starts on defense. Aside from his well above-average skill for intercepting the ball, Bergey was a prototypical run plugging, stack and shed linebacker. He was listed at 6'4 and 245 at a time when players were considerably smaller than they are today. Bergey came after the golden era of MLBs (Chuck Bednarik, Sam Huff, Ray Nietschke, Bill George, Harry Jacobs and Joe Schmidt). Some of his contemporaries at the position were Dick Butkus, Nick Buoniconti, Tommy Nobis, Willie Lanier, Mike Curtis and LeRoy Jordan. Bergey is one of the many great, borderline HOFers who history will mostly forget. RIP -

Speaking of which, counter to the general move of stadiums back towards city centers, the Bears are going to build their new stadium in suburban Arlington Park. To me it seems very wrong to move the Bears stadium out of downtown Chicago. -

On the other hand I'm blown away by his talent. He's a rookie, possibly playing in a bad system. -

How many QBs in the NFL can make that play? Followed by that one. -

For Seahawks fans this must seem like a slow motion train wreck with the Bears driving as it ticks down to the 2 minute warning. For the record, the Seahawks are minus 4.5 in this game. -

Wayne Gretzky said "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Joe Montana said "If you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying." It's really quite a battle of the wills... neither side wants to back down. Who will be the first to blink? -

I believe he's a graduate of the Rob Johnson Quarterback Academy in Mission Viejo. Are you the Negan that got into it with Spencer that @4merper4mer was talking about? -

You have to trust the process in order to understand. Is there a scenario where it would actually make sense to punt on a down other than 4th down? I'm asking because I don't actually want to do the mental gymnastics. If I stop watching at 2:45 does that change anything? Shhhhh... would you keep it down please? It was in 1999 when TiVo was first rolled out... we live in great times... -

Pursuant to nothing but are you familiar with the phenomenon known as "Contagious Crying?" There is something about having a ridiculously talented rookie QB which is helpful when your team sucks. -

The field looks better than anything else tonight. I can't believe how well it's held up... so I found this: https://www.soldierfield.com/stadium-info/about#:~:text=The playing field at Soldier, for both football and soccer. "The playing field at Soldier Field is a natural grass field (Kentucky blue-grass and rye blend). The field is resodded multiple times per year with consultation from the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Fire as it is the preferred surface for both football and soccer. Nine inches below the root zone, more than 20 miles of ¾-inch plastic tubing circulates warm water and glycol (to prevent freezing), in a radiant heating system that extends the grass’ growing season. It also helps melt snow and keep the ground from freezing, so the surface remains pliable." I wonder if this will be what we're installing in the new stadium. -

Nothing specific, he's just made a few youthful errors. Joe Flacco, Jameis Winston, and Geno Smith walk into a bar... -

That said, Caleb's talent jumps off the screen and they have some really nice skill players with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome, and Swift so they have the ability to flash offensively. Yep. The Seattle HC is very youthful but I loved how he answered the question. He was already practicing the lines he was gonna say in the locker room. And his agents have been rattling sabres about a new contract. Geno is like Jameis Light... alternating big plays with bad plays. -

He's the "stack" in "stack and shed." But it's true... also it's not the plays he makes but the ones he takes away. From what I understand it's like some sort of Jedi mind trick or something like that. -

The Bears are kind of like the Jets of the NFC.
