Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The departure and return of Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson was an interesting "evolution" on the Bills roster. Both players were generally well-liked and legit NFL talents but I agree that both at DT and DE, the Bills are much stronger now. -
The 2022 Bills-Ravens was a great game. Josh made one mistake (early interception) and then willed the team to victory (again). I pinch myself thinking that one of the best football players to ever live, my favorite football player ever, is the quarterback of my favorite football team. I still can't believe my good fortune.

The suggestion about Gouraige was a weak attempt at humor on my part. Maybe I should have called it gowardly. -
Stumped. Would they have gone on to play at a 4 year school?

Yeah Brockport State > Mike Jones was a cheat. But I'm pretty good in this subject.

Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

The one thing I haven't seen mentioned if at all, is that though the Bills have generally defensed Lamar and DH pretty well, this will be the first time they've been on the same team. "Henry is fifth in the league so far this season with 281 rushing yards and Jackson is eighth with 254 rushing yards. They’re the first pair of teammates both to have at least 250 rushing yards in their team’s first three games of a season since 1976, when the Rams’ John Cappelletti had 315 yards and Lawrence McCutcheon had 298." So this is uncharted territory. I'm still confident for the win but I doubt it will be easy. His career took a nosedive when they outlawed Stickum. -
They MUST play THIS version of this song...

He's a high-energy guy... always yelling and exhorting his teammates... slapping backs and... clapping. It was cowardly of them to not elevate Gouraige. -
Travis Brown Brockport State Bengals great QB Ken Anderson also went to Augustana. Also former Bills QB Willie Totten. Back to the game... Brockport State

Our Bills have been dominant AND historically consistent

I long ago got out of the habit of correcting the writing of others... but now that you brought it up... to the bolded, you forgot the question mark. Also the expression is... "I couldn't care less" not "I could care less." You're welcome and that is all. 🙂 -

Fixed it for you. -
In answer to the original question, McBeane and Company probably discuss this and myriad other issues on a daily basis. The answer to the question can change gradually over time or suddenly at a moment's notice. As for me, I'd revisit the question in 3 weeks. I believe they're intentionally bringing Curtis Samuel along slowly to aid his recovery at a time where his contributions haven't been necessary to the team's success. We usually only talk about people "we've heard of." I agree that there's some players out there on teams that won't be sniffing the playoffs that might be better fits than Odell... I mean DeAndre Hopkins. Agreed. If he comes here it's not because he wants to be here. If he doesn't want to be here he can... I've heard of him! Maybe move him to safety when he starts losing some athletic ability? No one's heard of him. Stop being silly. There's no great franchise in sports for which the above (paranoid, cowardly, fearful) is a part of their mindset. Am I wrong? Who does this?

Speaking of beef and feet, Mike Williams had small feet... at least compared to Bryant McKinnie. -

Von isn't an every down edge anymore but he has 3 sacks in 3 weeks. Anyone who can consistently pressure the QB has great value in the NFL. Whether or not Javon can be an every down edge isn't really that important. JMO. -

Well yes... now that they have a place to talk about him. 😀 Teammates say he was flashing in practice too. Between the talent and coaching it seems that the Bills withstand injuries better than most teams. Next man up seems like a real thing, not a hope and wish. While it's a good question I don't think that it's really important just because situational pass rushers have a ton of value. -

Also larger targets in the passing game who block well downfield. -

I was not surprised Toohill made the team. I expected him to: "As you suggest they do have a lot in common. Both Murphy and Toohill played at Stanford and both spent the bulk of their careers (4 seasons each) with the Washington Football Team. Physically they're also very comparable with Toohill having generally better measurables: Murphy 6'6" 260 lbs 33 7/8" arms forty: 4.86 10 yd split: 1.65 bench press: 19 reps vertical: 35.5" broad jump: 9'10" Toohill 6'5" 255 lbs 33 1/2" arms forty: 4.62 10 yd split: 1.59 bench press: 17 reps vertical: 39" broad jump: 10'6" Murphy was a more highly-rated recruit and had a more decorated college career and was drafted in the 2nd round. Toohill was drafted in the 7th round. In 86 career games (57 starts) Murphy had 26 career sacks. In 57 career games (14 starts) Toohill has 7 sacks including 5 in 8 starts last year. I'm thinking Beane's gonna get much greater value with Toohill than he did with Murphy." -

I compared him to Elvis Dumervil, another shorter guy with length and wingspan: "His measurables are very similar to Elvis Dumervil, the Louisville product who was drafted in the 4th round and had a borderline HOF career: 105.5 Career Sacks 23 forced fumbles 2× First-team All-Pro (2009, 2014) 5× Pro Bowl (2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015) NFL sacks leader (2009) Player Height Weight Arm Length Wingspan 40 Yard 10 Yard Split Elvis Dumervil 5'11.375 257 32.625" 76" 4.75 1.65 Javon Solomon 6' 246 33.875" 80.250" 4.72 1.65- 129 replies

The selection of Solomon indicates that McBeane are evolving in their processes. They've been pretty consistent about drafting for certain traits, including height and length on the edges. Taking Solomon was a departure from that tendency. Yes, it was McCorkle. I'll correct. Thanks. Yes Daequan Hardy and he's on the practice squad. The 2024 draft is certainly looking excellent so far. Of course 2022 was his masterpiece with Elam, Cook, Bernard, Shakir, Benford, and Spector... and Araiza. -
I've been excited about Javon since he was drafted and was disappointed that he missed the first two weeks due to injury. Subsequently I was excited to hear he was active for Jacksonville and he showed very well. Javon, Andreesen, Elam, Morrow and Bishop entered the game with 7:45 remaining and on his 3rd NFL play from scrimmage he strip sacked McCorkle for a fumble the Bills recovered. He ended up playing 14 snaps of which 10 were passing plays. PFF gave him a 93.1 pass rush grade and a 93.3 overall grade. I can't wait to see him sack Lamar on Sunday night.

List of Favre "controversies": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Favre#Controversies You say you're not defending Favre but in the next breath you judge Von Miller. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
