  1. To the first bolded above, can you quote me where I was upset? To the second bolded, didn't I already say the biggest deal was the money raised? To the third bolded, please tell me what someone has to gain or lose by posting their name on a donation. Then tell me what a person has to gain or lose by donating anonymously? What is the motivation for posting your name when you can simply check a box and remain anonymous? Either way you get a receipt for the tax deduction. Anyways, no I'm not upset and I hope you aren't either. If you'd like to discuss this please PM me... I don't want to detract from this thread.
  2. Regarding the "5 minute warmup blame game, as K-9 and others have asked, let's set aside the pointless inquisition of fault. It's witch burning and it's speculative and serves no good purpose. We don't need a pound of flesh. Our world needs forgiveness and understanding. No individual or organization is perfect. The outpouring of humanity is the huge silver lining in this tragedy. It has helped restore my faith in my fellow humans. Awesome. And just two spots below someone made a $10,000 anonymous donation. Publicity yes. It publicizes those who made donations. PT Barnum would be pleased. Regardless of attribution, $5.5 million is an incredible number. I'm sure there are those who donated $30 knowing that it meant they'd go hungry for a day or two. Thanks for a much needed laugh.
  3. Yes, grief is one thing. Trauma (and PTSD) quite another. In the two Covid years the NFL had numerous games played on 3-4 days rest. Don't rule out the possibility of a condensed schedule. Some people prefer to donate anonymously... which is a GoFundMe option btw.
  4. There seem to be 3 major controversies attached to this topic: 1) Charity 2) 5 minutes 3) Logistics regarding game outcome/standings/playoff seedings 1) What people want to do with their money is their business. 2) We'll have more reportage (if not greater clarity) tomorrow as to what actually happened with the supposed 5 minute edict from the NFL. 3) This perhaps should be a separate topic. JMOs...
  5. Thank you but you're not understanding my thoughts. Based on the discussion here with the Scott and Simon, I think I'm going to wait to see if a fund is established for Damar. It's quite possible one will be established.
  6. Based on the discussion here with the Scott and Simon, I think I'm going to wait to see if a fund is established for Damar. It's quite possible one will be established. The game didn't start until 5:30... an average NFL game lasts about 3 hours. Then the team has to shower, pack, and go to the airport. At this time (11:46 pm) the team would normally still be at the stadium.
  7. There have been serious injuries during NFL games, Kevin Everett... Mike Utley... this FEELS different. No one is expressing their worst fears but that unspoken thought is hovering over this situation.
  8. I know... the Cheatriots* really, truly suck but sports is funny. Thats all.
  9. It's that time of the evening so forgive me... if we won all our playoff games and New England won all of theirs, we would meet in the playoffs, no?
  10. No I wouldn't say afraid. It's just that I'd recently seen a few things about the Patriots' quest for an unbeaten season in 2007 and the regular season finale against the Giants (which NE won). As we all know New England finished the regular season 16-0 but the Giants beat New England in the Super Bowl a few weeks later. Not afraid but just pointing out that New England could really be a pain in our asses.
  11. Yes, because they won today, KC could still finish with a better record than us if we go 1-1 and they win their last game. Nevertheless, in a worst-case scenario New England could make their season by ruining ours.
  12. I'd have to disagree on the Jets' offensive talent statement. I like Breece Hall, Michael Carter, and Zonovan Knight at RB, Elijah Moore and Corey Davis (behind Garrett Wilson) at WR, I like Tyler Conklin and Uzomah at TE, and they have several legit offensive linemen (Brown, Tomlinson, Fant) plus Alijah Vera-Tucker is looking very good and I have not written off Mekhi Becton either. All the Jets need is a QB.
  13. The Cheatriots; from 7-6 to 8-8. A fly in the ointment. HOWEVER, they can still be a MAJOR pain in our asses... If they beat us next week they secure a wild card spot so they're guaranteed to be super motivated against us. On top of that if they make the playoffs they'll be sure to want to make their season by beating us in the playoffs. If we beat Cinci tomorrow night, we'll have to decide how to approach week 18 vs NE based on the aforementioned situation .
  14. The GangGreen is a five alarm fire right now. They want to fire the owner, fire the GM, fire the coach, fire half the players, fire the ball boy. One poster said the Jests can't even draft QBs right and they lost two draft picks because of it. The entire Jests Nation is on tilt. They're wearing white after Labor Day and combining plaids and stripes. They're fighting a land war in Asia. They're taking wooden nickels. They're crying over spilt milk. They're cutting tags off mattresses. They're starving a cold and stuffing a fever. They're paying $20,000 for Taylor Swift tickets. They're eating gas station sushi. They're running with scissors. They're smoking with their oxygen on. One of them just killed John Wick's dog. It's Biblical. Don't take my word for it..... https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/woody-johnson-f-ck-you-trust-fund-baby.98496/ https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/who-is-getting-fired-on-this-staff.98497/ https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/well-so-much-for-this-season.98489/
  15. Yes, Burrow is a very accurate thrower. In many ways Burrow reminds me of a larger version of Drew Brees. Along those same lines, Josh Allen reminds me of a larger version of Brett Favre (athletic gunslinger) and Mahomes is like a more athletic version of Aaron Rodgers (the first QB to normalize throwing off-platform and using varying arm angles). Both Allen and Mahomes have raised the bar on the proficiencies of their predecessors... perhaps Burrow has too.
  16. I completely agree that he's an idiot. He played two years at a football factory so I highly doubt he has a degree. Excellent football player though.
  17. Mixon has a college degree? Where do you get that from?
  18. I won't argue any of what you assert however Carr has looked like crap this year. He was epically horrible vs the Rams and the Steelers and there were games earlier in the year that he was just bad. If Carr was playing up to his contract, he'd still be the starter. JMO.
  19. That's not quite accurate. If Carr were playing well and the Raiders viewed him as their QB of the present and future, the team wouldn't be benching him, regardless of any financial considerations.
  20. How many Raiders games have you watched this season? Maybe it's Carr's fault, maybe McDaniels' but Carr has played very poorly in the games I've watched.
  21. No because T.Y. Hilton was also available... he just recently signed with Dallas btw.
  22. Two more words, Paul Hackett. And then the Randy Gregory fight after the game, swinging on the Rams player. That 64 yard FG attempt really got Hackett off on the wrong foot. You're paying your new QB top salary and there's 45 seconds and 3 time outs and you're gonna run the clock down and attempt a 64 yard field goal? That was the first clear sign (aside from the constant delay of game penalties) that Hackett was in over his head. That moment was surreal and the Denver fans must have been horrified. Did you know the word gullible is not in the dictionary? 😀 Seriously, Russ Wilson was not set up for failure... he was allowed to bring in many of his people, calling and raising Tom Brady's Alex Guerrero. From The Athletic: "They provided Wilson with his own office in the team facility, gave unfettered access to members of the quarterback’s personal team of coaches and trainers and handed Wilson a key role in the design and implementation of the offense he would run with his new team."
  23. Von Miller was already taken but Cam Heyward and Cam Jordan who are both still elite were available to the Bills.
