  1. Cards don't have the talent on D to keep up with Bills..regardless of who receivers are. See a lot of soft shell zone and tons of blitzing by the birds hoping for mistakes...so expecting a relatively low scorer. Bills fans will be frustrated how many times Murray breaks contain and runs for the first down on 3rd and long...and our kicker misses that game icing field goal near the end...but its not enough. Bills triumph 20-15
  2. He has a lot of talent on his team, and I give him credit for designing an offense around a quarterback without a strong arm..quick hitters with lots of misdirection and run after catch...BUT...I have no respect for the guy after the Bills game when Tuas head bounced off the turf and he got up staggering. Everybody on the planet knew it was a concussion, but McDaniels got in front of a podium and insisted it was a neck injury...didnt seem to care much about the health of his player. And Tua had a much more serious concussion right after that which kept him out for a while.

  4. Don't shoot the messanger...mostly predicated on the he's a turnover machine theory... https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41001234/nfl-patrick-mahomes-lamar-jackson-caleb-williams-quarterbacks-ranking
  5. Size mostly, exactly. Worry about him shedding blocks inside. He'll face a lot bigger, more talented folks in the regular season.
  6. Every once in a while you come across a player that lacks the physical blessings that other players have at their positions. They make up for it with football smarts, desire and playing all out on every snap(heart), and they just KNOW how to play football. Steve Tasker is another name that comes to mind
  7. I expect the offense to be very competitive. I really don't think they will miss Diggs as long long as the play design and calling is creative. Defense is a different story. Hoping for a revived pass rush. Think the middle of the secondary may be soft. Even if the safties both come off injury before the start of the season, there won't be much continuity. ...and if the injury bug bites like last year, it's see you next season. This defense is razor thin on talent, and more injuries will make it look worse than the Chiefs playoff game last year.
  8. I personally have no idea...but an interesting sign is when the question was posted to Babich yesterday... he said that he would defer injury reporting to the head coach. IMO, if he was just fine, or a very minor injury, I think human nature has you say he's just fine...even if the coach is supposed to make injury reports.
  9. The bad : Just to hammer home the point, what is probably your 2 starting running backs had a combined 4 yards on 9 carries..a very unimpressive .44 yards per carry. The badder: Depth..as bad as the starting o-line appeared today, I think they will get their act together. However, unlike last year, chances are someone will get injured, and most of the backups are VERY inimpressive (see: backup linebackers Chiefs playoff game last year)...fear much of the same with the safeties.
  10. As I've mentioned before in posts, I'm an airline pilot, and when I'm returning from international flying, approaching the customs desk( at certain airports) some camera somewhere is taking a picture of my face. Before I can say a word, and without pulling out any paperwork or passport, the agent knows my name, and what my flight number and departure airport were. Big brother IS watching.
  11. The AFL in 1965 1st Down: Fullback up the middle for 1 yard 2nd Down: Halfback sweep with lead block by fullback for 2 yards 3rd Down: Try that fullback thing up the middle again 4th Down: Punt ....repeat...... Throwing the ball is strictly an emergency procedure. Just a different era and almost an entirely different game.
  12. Well, as my title would imply, I went to the very 1st game at Rich Stadium, as my dad had season tickets for a number of seasons. Loved seeing the games in person. Throughout my high school and college, would go to a few games a season..but I don't think tailgating was as sophisticated as it is today. We would get subs and a pizza with a cooler of beer in the trunk throwing a football around in the parking lot. One of my best memories is when I was in the Air Force and me and about a dozen of my buds made a road trip back to Buffalo to watch the Bills squish the fish on a perfect fall Sunday. I have moved back to the O.P. a few years ago..minutes from the stadium. In the interim, and now in my 60s, I have turned into a real student of the Xs and Os. If I found the somewhat inebriated, partying fan I was 40 years ago in front of me at the stadium, I'd be inclined to tell me to sit down and shut up, I want to watch the game...so Im better off watching from home. All you young and young at heart folks..party it up (safely) and have a great time!...It makes for wonderful memories!!
  13. Sorry, guess I wasn't clear. This was sort of a "what if" question regardless of cap situation..just purely what position needs to be upgraded the most to help ensure success...not that it's going to happen..especially with how little they have to spend.
  14. What position do you think the Bills need to upgrade the talent level the most to help the team succeed? Samples: Shut down corner? Monster DT that OWNS the middle of the line? True #1 receiver? Dependable/accurate kicker with monster leg? Ball hawk safety? I'm personally going with that dominating edge/ DE that can take over a game. One or more of these folks may appear on the roster as time goes on but dont think they are there yet..
  15. Vegas odds thinks the Bills have a shot at landing Michael Thomas...cap space even if true?? https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-michael-thomas-signing-odds
  16. I'm a Captain with a major US airline. Tonight I was flying a leg from Chicago to Kansas City. During the preflight, a very young lad and his mom popped their heads in the flight deck. While this youngster was in awe of all the overhead lights, my First Officer noticed he was wearing a Chiefs tee shirt and asked him if he was a Chiefs fan, and the 4 year old nodded his head in agreement. I then told him I am from Buffalo and a Buffalo Bills fan, and asked him if he knew who that was. Without hesitation he replied "Oh, yes...Buffalo....they've never won a Superbowl!". ...and no, .....while tempted I DID NOT throw him off the plane.
  17. Maybe folks should get robot insurance from Old Glory
  18. If I'm not mistaken, a first down is not 10 yards from where the ball is spotted. Instead, the line judge on the sidelines instructs the chain crew on the sidelines where to place the chains based on his view from 20 yards away. The 1st down is 10 yards from his spot on the sidelines...not very accurate.
  19. NFL Network showing a replay of Chief-Bills playoff game and got me thinking again about Bass' performance. Throuout most of his career he was nicknamed "Bass-O-Matic", but in this game he not only missed the field goal at the end of the game with a wicked slice, he barely made 2 extra points with the same slice (worse than my driver-- and that's bad) Has anyone done a deep dive on why the downturn? I'm curious if there was a hold issue, technique issue, or injury issue. Has to be more than a mis-hit with three of them in one game. At least so far, the Bills don't seem too concerned as they haven't announced anyone they are bringing in for a tryout.
  20. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet in this thread, but just came across the fact that Colemans 40 time is nearly identical to what Puka Nacia put up at the combine. (.04 difference) ..it slid Nacua back to the 5th round. I think if Coleman had anywhere near the season Nacua did, most Bills fans would be pretty happy.
  21. Edit: BuffaloBillyG posed pretty much my answer at the same time Sweats kind of beat me to the punch. Teams with big arm quarterbacks are seeing a lot of cover 2/ 2 deep defensive shells and are very limited on throwing the long ball..think Mahommes was limited on throwing the long ball last year as well. So what's the solution? A good run game..mismatch tight end...and big playmaking receivers that have good RAC... Pretty obvious why Beane went the direction he did based on this philosophy.
  22. How long is it going to take for Allen to " love him like a brother"??
  23. Not sure if it's been mentioned already in this thread, but Cosell had some interesting comments today on OBL. Said he looks at game films only, but parrotted that a lot have ranked Mitchell near the top three in terms of pure talent, but teams were scared away by the character issues. If some of those are substantiated, he may fall quite a bit.
  24. I can't believe that this deal all just came together a few days ago without a backup plan that allowed it to happen. Whether it's a yet announced handshake deal for a veteran receiver, or trade-in-principal agreements to move up on draft day for a highly graded receiver, I think that's what allowed Beane to make the move. I don't think Allen had any say in the matter, but Beane surely wants to keep him motivated and the rumor that Allen "approved" of the deal is because Beane told him what the plan for the team is. Of course this is ALL speculation on my part.
