So if other teams get lucky and get the right officials like Chiefs did, only way to contain him is to hold and trample him all game. Officials? That was the best CB in football, L’Jarius Sneed locking him up 🤣😂🤣😂 You know what's messed up too was the super bowl where the Bucs secondary was getting away with the same kinda thing against KC, and then when KC did it on the other side they called a bunch of PI's early which really ruined the game imo.

  4. check this out from 8 years ago kinda interesting to compare with sportrac's list today https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1563549-breaking-down-the-money-at-every-nfl-position https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/linebacker/
  5. Isn't it based on a combinaiton of circumstances, time, and subjective opinion?
  6. Honestly I haven't been 'scouting' like I do now for more than a few years so I don't know if I have the sample size to contribute, but I think this year's draft is like most others in that there are positions of weakness/lack of depth and those of depth -wr,cb, ot this year by all accounts. Also I think the lack of regular scouting due to the pandemic has people hedging a lot more because of the reduced input of information. There is a lot of quality there we just have to put ourselves in position(s) to get who we like, I'd be surprised if we don't trade back into the 3rd or 4th or even trade down from 30 though that would have to be a very good offer.
  7. Oh can someone tell me how McD brought in defensive players without Beane or vice versa, I know McD was hired first but pretty sure they have a close relationship and that they consult each other constantly.
  8. What he said was true, you just said the problem started earlier than he did and for me that means you are both right, you're just adding to his argument that 1t was a problem, some will say it was reasonable for the staff to be ok with the roster ie with star and phillips most would agree that star was nothing if not adequate and that phillips was showing a bit and seemingly consistently improving. Star opting out and phillips getting injured and then rotating in everyone and the kitchen sink just didnt work. I like Frazier, especially in the beginning with McD because he had HC exp., but he is somewhat inconsistent with his gameplan's and is much more conservative than I prefer my D coordinators but he has done a nice job overall and I'm of the opinion that bringing in someone else would just rock the boat and upset the chemistry but if our D takes another step back and our player development doesn't reap rewards(AJ, Ed, Edmunds, Phillips, Dane stick out to me) then McD and Beane will have to take a difficult look at the staff. I like Alim's athleticism, I don't think he makes it to our 3rd round pick, I said in another thread we'd have to trade back into the late 2nd early 3rd to get him. There are other options but he would be my preference in that range.
  9. Indy is by far the best team not being talked about. Their roster is ridiculous, if Wentz plays even reasonably well they are a threat in the playoffs. If he plays like people were saying about him during the MVP talk they are Super Bowl contenders. In my opinion they beat us in the playoffs if not for inexperienced coaching on the other side, if they self assess like McD and Beane do they learned a ton from that loss to us, which makes them even better this year. Do not sleep on the Colts, or Frank for that matter.
  10. Well everyone says we need a DE so Mario Williams is hands down the easiest and most impactful decision. We also need help in the secondary, possibly interior oline if cody ford doesnt step up, dt help if star and/or phillips dont come thru, and a hybrid linebacker type So I'd say Antoine Winfield/Nate Clements, Reuben Brown was a pro bowl guard but don't know if he'd count, Pat Williams/Ted Washington would be fun to see but it'd also be nice to bring Kyle back, as for hybrid LB type I was at the game the season before when we shouted TKO to recruit Takeo Spikes so I'd like him back to work with Edmunds lol and not the other famous Bills LB who was ragged on for making a ton of tackles but 8 yards down the field- you know who I'm talking about.
  11. I agree just watch the tape. Not saying we should draft Paye or Ojulari but compared to Oweh is a big difference for me, now if I got to interview each one and talk to coaches about scheme and how they were used I could change or add on to my current opinion but outside that its pretty clear cut. I actually like how Ojulari looked with his hand on the ground for the little he was asked to do it, he looked comfortable and had a good first step and it almost looked like olinemen underestimated how fast he would be in stance versus standing
  12. LOL the problem with Graham in the 3rd was that some of us were screaming at the screen since the pick before to draft Russ Wilson
  13. This! This is part of the 'process' that people don't necessarily think about because we have not been a developmental organization in the past and frankly it is easier from an outside looking in perspective and also for lazier GM's and Coaches to bring in a new toy than to continue to coach/teach/develop players that are already on the roster especially older players(not really our situation but goes to point). Based on our coaching staff, the progress that has been made by other players on the team and the mitigating circumstances of the 2020 season and just looking at the season itself ie playing people out of position because the staff incorrectly thought someone on the roster could step in adequately for Star and hold two gaps/demand double teams and keep interior olinemen from getting to the next level. It is my belief that the staff will learn from their mistake and make the necessary adjustments in scheme based on personnel or bring in the proper personnel so the loss of one player doesn't have such a domino effect on the rest of the defense. I'm in the camp that they will fix these errors thus allowing AJ, Ed and really everyone along the front to play to their strengths, this should also free up our LB's too allowing them to play faster instead of having to wait and react so much. I see major steps forward for AJ, Ed, Tremaine, Addison, Phillips, Butler- Aj, Ed, Addison, Butler can focus on their primary skill sets as penetrating linemen, Tremaine will be fully healthy and be kept more clean, Phillips plain ole needs to step his game up and be a guy that can fill in for Star. Phillips play/injury really hurt us early on which is why I think the staff were forced to see what Zimmer had, I will give him some credit though as he, like the whole defense, played much better 2nd half of the season. On offense, Knox obviously has to fix the drop issue also needs to up his blocking and polish his route running but overall like many of our younger players his flashes of 'brillance' need to become more commonplace, they need to be more consistent which is part of learning how to be a pro. Ford much like Phillips on the defensive side really needs to step up and take that guard spot and make it his and then bring that consistently for 4 qtrs / 17+ games. This is why I believe we need to bring in another 0/1 tech because if Phillips can't cut it we are right where we were last year, same with Ford and bringing in at least one interior olinemen who can play both guard spots and center. Luckily for us this is a deep draft for C/G interior olinemen, however the opposite is true of 0/1 techs on defense, but there are a few guys that could come in and clog the middle right away, the bonus would be getting an athlete who can also develop a pass rush from the interior.
  14. I'm a fan of having athletes all over the field, and despite being a big guy McNeill is actually very athletic, good balance, short space quickness, good first step, uses his hands well for where he is projected. He could be a real nice piece if we can figure out where to take him, late 2nd early 3rd might work but pulling the trigger at the right time is super important. Haha wishful thinking I'll say, but it is possible but we'd have to trade back into the 2nd or 3rd to make sure.
  15. I agree Colorado its a long shot for sure, to me it just looked like the best spot to be guaranteed one of the top 'cant miss' players and sadly enough I really like the idea of getting ahead of the Pats lol. If I were the Vikings I'd be moving up for a QB if I had all that ammo, I'm just not a fan of Cousins at least not the way they use him.
  16. I've been thinking about this and to me it looks like the best option for this would be the vikings at 14, gets us ahead of the Pats who have similar needs and its just nice to be in front them in anything, also at 14 you are guaranteed to get one of the 15-20 who legit have 1st round grades, whether its a Micah Parsons or Jaycee Horn or if they like Paye or Phillips. I just don't know if I'm ready to give up what it'll take to get there.
  17. I was surprised the coaches didn't tell him to run more against the chiefs, not designed plays but on pass plays when they were holding us in man coverage he could have gashed them a bunch of times, granted it would be a risk him reverting a little bit to that first season where people werent open and he had to win with his legs, but even a few first downs in this manner can make defenses more honest and opens up other things.
  18. agreed any signings at this point for the bigger names will be post draft, in all honesty most of these guys aren't in the conversations based off what kind of money they would want, I'd literally only bring them in for bare minimum. Ingram and Hooker would be the two I might actually have some interest in. Hooker only because of his age and athleticism, kind of like Treadwell maybe a proper locker room and organization and some coaching with a change of scenery and can be a reset/opportunity to show that innate, latent talent(had to sorry).
  19. Guys left hanging out there that I'd kick the tires on; Geno Atkins(wouldn't mind getting him cheap and bringing him in only in pass rush situations so he can stay fresh and healthy and mentor Ed and AJ. Kawaan Short- basically hasn't played the last two seasons so either you think he's just gonna get injured again or he finally has the time to get really healthy and would be a solid piece in rotation at the right price. Melvin Ingram- Patella sprain cost him 9 games last season, and his best play has been with Bosa on the other side, but is a very good edge rusher and could be gotten on the cheap as a fit in a rush rotation chasing a ring. Houston/Kerrigan/Vernon- all could be rush options opposite Hughes, all depends on the rotations and price Jesse James-seems like a solid player could replace smith with upside Jordan Reed Duke Johnson-3rd down back, camp fodder/competition Malik Hooker Kwon Alexander Brian Poole- haven't watched much tape so might not be a scheme fit but could be good competition in camp, played well in the slot the last couple years Bashaud Breeland/Gareon Conley/Rasul Douglas Adrian Clayborn, Maurice Hurst, Daniel McCullers, Dion Jordan, Vic Beasley, LaQuan Treadwell, Kyle Peko, Deatrich Wise- fodder, depth, rotation And theres a whole mess load of 30-40 year old linemen for camp fodder Mostly just hope and camp fodder, a couple of long shots who could work out in a proper organization and locker room and mentors/leaders
  20. Thanks Balls, I should have pre-faced with a based on the media and the "talk" out there, teams in total have about 25-35 players with 1st round grades, this depends on scheme, culture and of course differences in scouting for example Charlie Casserly talked to all 32 teams and 10 of them had Tyson Campbell as their 4th rated corner behind Horn, Surtain and Farley. Ive been a long time reader here at TBD, I was originally on the buffalobills.com message board and came over here but hadn't gotten into posting again until just now for whatever reason, I'm thinking of guys like Shaw, Beast, Teef, Virgil, Grundy I think and a whole bunch of others from that old message board.
  21. Right so when I say "let the draft come to them" I'm saying wait and see what value falls, does a Paye or Parsons/Phillips fall in the 15-20 range or does a WR(Toney/Marshall/Bateman) fall or do they have a real high grade on Etienne or Harris if they are there, how do they feel about JOK, Zaven Collins, Jamin Davis? Will they wait on edge like Perkins or Roche?
  22. I agree I have 22 players with a 1st round grade, I should have prefaced with a based on the media and the "talk" out there overall it looks like there are about 30-40 players who teams, as you said depending on scheme and culture to take into account, believe are worthy of a first round pick. Aside from really missing that 4th round pick I think the Bills are well positioned to "let the draft come to them" if one of their guys falls to them at 30 or within their range of trading up to snag their guy as they have done in the past. To me it feels more like they might trade back to try and get another 2nd and 3rd round picks because after that top 10-20 players comes off the board, the elite guys, there are a lot of quality players that can have an immediate impact for the Bills, especially in the secondary and OLine. Personally I'm becoming a fan of taking a couple of secondary players, I like the height/size/speed combo's that are available guys like Stokes, Campbell, Melifonwu, Williams, Wade, Adebo these are not first round guys but even the top guys are all over 6ft with the exception of Samuel. I guess the point I was trying to make is that Bills will have plenty of talent to pick from and just because the consensus our no. 1 need is DE/Edge rush doesnt mean that has to be our first pick or even can be addressed in this draft at all due to the lack of can't miss edge rushers, I'm not taking a developmental edge rusher in the 1st round no matter how off the charts his measurables are.
  23. Theres about 40 players who are supposed to go in the top 25-30; QB(5)- Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Jones, Lance (If someone reaches; Trask, Mills) RB(2)- Etienne, Harris (Williams, Carter, Gainwell, Hill, Sermon) WR(4-7)- Chase, Waddle, Smith, Toney, Marshall Jr, Moore, Bateman (Atwell, Moore, Rogers, etc.) TE(1-2)- Pitts (Friermuth, Long, Jordan, McKitty, Tremble OL(5-6)- Sewell, Slater, Jenkins, Mayfield, Darrisaw, Radunz, Eichenberg, Cosmi, Hudson, Leatherwood, Carman, Brown Tucker, Davis, Smith, Dickerson, Humphrey, Meinerz DE/Edge(6)- Paye, Phillips, Rousseau, Oweh, Ossai, Ojulari, Basham Jr, Tryon, Perkins, Roche, Rumph, Turner, Odeyingbo, Sample, Hayes DT/NT(1-2)- Barmore, Onwuzurike, Nixon, Tufele, Wilson, Shelvin, Odighizuwa, Slaton, Williams, Tonga, Brown, Johnson, Goldwire, Jones LB(6)- Parsons, JOK, Collins, Jamin Davis, Bolton, Browning, Surratt, Moses, Britt, Rice, Jones, Rashed, Barnes, Werner, Cox S(1-2)- Moehrig, Holland, Johnson, Sterns, Nasirildeen, Cisco, Grant, Melifonwu CB(6-8)- Horn, Farley, Surtain, Samuel, Molden, Newsome, Joseph, Robinson, Stokes, Campbell, Adebo, St. Juste, Mukuamu, Brown, Wade, Thomas, Williams I know there is some overlap for Edge/DE/LB, I'm just trying to show that there will be at least 10 players left at 30 who most would agree have 1st round grades and hopefully at least a couple of those players are considered elite or top half of the first round grades. Depending on how it falls the Bills could move into the 20's to get someone they love like a Parsons/Collins/JOK at LB or a WR they love that falls like a Toney, same goes for Edge(Paye, Phillips, Rousseau, etc.) and CB(Horn, Farley, Surtain, Samuel, Molden) or just as possible is trading back for more picks in the 2nd and 3rd. Im just brainstorming Also teams need more than just 1 lock down corner, at least thats my opinion even if a team has a good pass rush. Tthe athleticism of today's QB's allows them to extend plays and make even teams with a good pass rush look silly especially if they can't hold up at the back end, in combination with athletic QB's is that teams have multiple weapons with 2-4 WR's or RB's and TE's forcing defenses to have multiple guys at the 2nd and 3rd level that can cover man to man and be disciplined in a zone.
