  1. Surprised about the comments regarding the safety position. I would have thought this was a significant need, but their comments suggest otherwise. If Douglas does not come back then the two biggest needs will be CB and DT (1T). If the Bills draft another RB with a relatively high draft pick, I think it will be an indication of their view on the prospects of being able re-sign Cook. I think the draft will look something like CB, DT, DE, OG and RB with the first five picks.
  2. Way better than I would have expected, especially after Stingley's new contract and what he would have received on the open market as a free agent.
  3. Something that many are not focused on is a potential need at guard/center. Given that McGovern and Edwards are free agents after this season (and Torrence after next season), I would not be surprised if we draft at least one guard/center in April. Not sure if SGVP will be starting caliber and I don't think we have any guard prospects currently on the roster.
  4. This is not a strong CB group in this year's draft. Given this and in general, counting on a first round or second round CB pick to be an effective starter in his first year seems unrealistic (see, e.g., Elam). We will need a veteran to fill this hole, and it is not Jackson.
  5. Titans released Chidobe Awuzie (CB). Is he any good? 29 years old and played for the Bengals and Cowboys before the Titans.
  6. The guy seems refreshingly genuine. Doesn't seem to have the entitled star attitude.
  7. I was really happy with re-signing our own players before the start of free agency, but free agency for the Bills has been a real downer. I guess we will never know who we wanted to sign, but, other than Bosa, I am not seeing a lot of help coming from this group. Palmer did not put up good numbers in his years with the Chargers to warrant the deal that he received, Hoecht will not be available for the first six games of the season, Ogunjobi is not the defensive lineman we need to be the middle anchor of the D-line and also will be suspended for the first six games, Jackson is not an adequate starter or back-up, and we really have not addressed significant needs at CB or safety. I like Beane, but this is a really bad look for the Bills and in particular Beane.
  8. While it made sense to trade Elam, I am not a fan of re-signing Jackson and it is disappointing that we have no real upgrades to our secondary at this point of free agency (safeties and CBs). I don't think the draft can be counted on to improve our situation (Elam as an example). I recall Jackson being targeted often when he was with the Bills and we don't have the kind of safeties that will be able to help mask his play.
  9. Kind of surprised that we haven't upgraded the secondary, and the safety position specifically, at this point of free agency. I know it is early, but our secondary was bad last season and worse now since we are down a starting level CB opposite Benford. Still have a need at DT and this is supposedly a strong draft at DT, so it would be disappointing if we need to use our first round pick on a CB who may or may not be ready to start from day one.
  10. I have not seen any rumors around Douglas or Cooper, which is interesting. I can't see us going into the season without a veteran starter at CB opposite Benford, and it can't be Elam. Don't we also need a free safety? Aren't Bishop and Rapp strong safeties?
  11. Wonder if we are looking at trades. Maybe Alexander (CB) from Green Bay?
  12. I am sure the Bills were in on many of the free agents that signed elsewhere yesterday. For most free agents, it was about money and team location, not about being on the cusp of the Super Bowl. Older veterans that have made a lot of money may have a different view at this point of their careers.
  13. I would be surprised if we wanted Samuel. Smaller sized CB and injury history.
  14. Given the available cap space this year compared to last year, I expected the Bills to come out of free agency this year with at least a new starting CB opposite Benford, a new starting tree safety, depth at DT and/or DE and possibly an upgrade at WR. It is still really early, but I am not sure there is a starting caliber CB or free safety free agent still available. At this point, I hope we are not planning to bring back Douglas, Miller and/or Hamlin.
  15. JP was the #3 on the Chargers. Why would we think he could be our #1?
