  1. So the Germans can march in the shade. How can you identify a French Army Knife?
  2. I should clarify how I see CB/S. I think the Bills will roster 10 players between the 2 positions. If everyone were healthy the units would look like this CB (5) - Douglas, Benford, T Johnson, Elam and Ingram with Hardy being a KR/CB6, but counted as a KR for roster purposes S (5) - Rapp, Hamlin, Bishop, Edwards, Lewis With the injuries CB (5) - Douglas, Benford, T Johnson, Elam & Ingram with Hardy being a KR/CB6 but counted as a KR for roster purposes. S (5) - Rapp, Hamlin, Lewis, Jackson & Burgess with Bishop and Edwards on IR. Once each of Bishop and Edwards get healthy, Burgess & Ingram could be on the outside looking in.
  3. With the 1st pre-season game around the corner, I thought it would be helpful to see where the roster stands based on the news from training camp. Offense (24) QB (2) - Allen, Trubisky RB (3) - Cook, Davis, Johnson FB (1) - Gilliam TE (3) - Kincaid, Knox - camp battle (1) - Morris, Davidson - Could they keep Morris & Davidson making Gilliam expendable? WR (6) - Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, Hollins - camp battle (2) - Shavers, MVS, Claypool, Shorter, Hamler WR Notes: Shorter has been playing the gunner on special teams, MVS is finally working with the 1st team offense, Shavers has been the camp surprise and Claypool got hurt. OL - Starters (5) - Brown, Dawkins, McGovern, Torrence & Edwards OL - Depth (4) - Van Denmark, Anderson, SVP & ???? - camp battle (1) - Grable, Collins, Clapp Defense (23) DT (5) - Oliver, D Jones, A Johnson, D Williams, Carter DE (5) - Miller, Rousseau, Epenesa, Smoot - camp battle (1) - Jonathan, Cline, Toohill, Salomon LB (4) - Milano, Benard, Williams, Morrow - camp battle (1) - Spector, Jones, Ulofoshio. Can Spector unseat Williams or Morrow? Could they keep 5? Draft pick Ulofoshio is injured - PS? Has Jones done enough to earn a job? CB (5) - T Johnson, Douglas, Benford, Elam, Lewis - Note: Ingram has had a good camp and Hardy is the favorite as the kick returner S (4) - Rapp, Hamlin, Bishop (IR), Edwards (IR) - camp battle (2+) - with the key injuries, the Bills signed Burgess and Jackson. Lewis also playing safety. Is Hamlin now a starter? Jackson is 36 with 187 NFL games (176 starts) and Burgess has 43 games (3 starts). Specialists (4) - Ferguson (LS), Bass (PK), Martin (P) & Hardy (KR) - camp battle (1) - Isabella & Hamler (For the KR job) Of the camp battles - I see Grable winning the 4th OL backup job and Jonathan winning the 5th DE job. I thought MVS was on the way out, but I now see him on the roster as the 5th WR with Shavers and Shorter battling for WR 6. Claypool’s injury could slot him to the PS. The other really interesting battle is at TE3 between Morris and Davidson. Morris is a proven special teams ace, while Davidson is a special athlete who is now healthy. This leaves 2 jobs available. Could we see a TE4, a LB5, a CB6 or a S5 to accommodate the injuries at S and to avoid losing one of Spector, Davidson or Ingram? Given the injuries a S, I suspect they’ll start the year with a 5th safety. I’m going to assume Bishop and Edwards make the team but depending on their injuries, both could end up on the IR to start the year. I don’t think they want to lose Spector at LB. Can they get him back to the PS? Could they keep 6 DE to not lose Cline or Salomon or do you think both will clear to the PS? What about Davidson or Ingram. I think they’ll be able to the loser of Shavers vs Shorter to the PS. I also think they’ll be able to get Salomon and Ulofoshio to the PS. Not sure about Ingram, Davidson, Cline or Spector.
  4. According the the France military. There is also a cool survey that shows that the Jets are not the most popular NFL in any county in the country.
  5. He is 17 of 19 in camp according to Joe Marino with only misses of 51 and 58.
  6. Y'all do realize that Morris only played 185 (15.89%) of the offensive plays last year. Morris' primary contribution was 312 special teams plays (72.56%). Whomever wins this camp battle is going to be primarily a special teams player. Davidson is going to have to perform amazingly in pre-season games for Morris to lose his job.
  7. Milano is going to take some time to get up to speed. My biggest concern is that he is now coming back from his second big injury. The good news is that he is on the right side of 30 and our LB depth is the best it’s ever been under McDermott.
  8. This thread is way premature. Lets see how Davidson performs in a at least one pre-season game before giving him a roster spot.
  9. Milton always looks good in practice. He looked good at Michigan, looked good at Tenn, and now looks good at NE. Sadly, the problems really begin when he steps on the field in real games.
  10. No, this board is where the player was drafted and by what team. Notice the little Buffalo next to Coleman and Bishop's names? Yellow has to be use extreme caution. Joe Milton is the only player with Yellow and he is a great athlete but a terrible QB.
  11. The problem for me was we dump Diggs who fell from a 70% receiver to 61% after week 6 (66.9% for the season) and let a 53% receiver in Davis walk. He kept his 3 other top receivers Cook (81.5%), Kincaid (80.2%) and Shakir (86.7%) as well as signing Samuel who caught nearly 70% of his targets with a crappy Wash team. If the goal was to have guys who actually catch the football why bring in a guy who in 2 seasons in KC only caught 51.2% of his throws from Mahomes. He was actually was worse in GB with only 49.8% catches with Aaron Rodgers as his QB.
  12. I wrote in the Surprise Cut thread on July 11 that MVS would be cut. The response was swift and angry. The Bills would never cut a guy with a $2.25 mill dead cap hit they said. The truth is MVS is a lousy wr with a career 50% catch percentage. He is Beane’s biggest mistake this summer. He should have never been signed.
  13. On July 11th in the surprise cut thread I said MVS will not make the team and boy I some peoples panties in a wad. Let's say I'm not surprised that opinion on him are shifting in my direction. The guy is a 50% pass receiver for his career. He should never have been signed and paying him 2.25 guaranteed was Beane's biggest mistake this off-season.
  14. He's probably the guy who drafted Mayfield or Darnold over Allen and quite possibly the guy who drafted Zach Wilson 2nd overall
  15. Teams are terrible at contracts. Jax gave Gabe Davis 24 million in guarantees. We gave the ancient Von Miller an absurd contract. The Knox contract was nearly as bad. It's how we got into cap hell in the first place. I'm saying this and I have great respect for Beane. IMHO MVS's contract is one of Beane's mistakes.
  16. Yes contracts matter, but not to Beane this season. Beane cut this off-season White and Diggs among others creating a $61 dead cap charge this season. Beane isn't keeping a guy who doesn't make the team better. We have 7.5 mill in cap space, dumping MVS will leave plenty of cap space to operate this season. This thread is about a surprise cut. Clearly people here would be surprised if Beane cut MVS. However, I'm not one of them. The guy just isn't that good and should have never been signed. Is getting the KC playbook from MVS really worth 2.25? Maybe!
  17. Steve Young. Those pesky MVPs and a Super Bowl win.
  18. Actually the original Taco Mac, when it was owned by a couple from Buffalo, was great. It was in the Virginia Highlands part of Atlanta, right near my first home here. Now it's just another franchise place. Oh well.
  19. It's not going to matter. They have plenty of space to cut him. Despite a couple of clutch catches last year, he still not good. His catch% is 50% for his career. On 42 targets last year he only had 315 yards or about half of Shakir's production with a similar about of targets. Personally, I think this is Beane's worst signing on the off-season.
  20. MVS. Hamler and Claypool both outperform him in camp.
  21. Proven depth and that’s about it. 1 QB - check 2 Deep and talented RB room - check 3 excellent TE room - check 4 talented and deep OL - check, people can worry about center all they want, but McGovern played center in HS and College. He’ll be fine and has a stud rookie backing him up. If SVP beats out McGovern at center, McGovern goes back to guard and Edwards to the bench strengthening our OL. 5 Deep WR room with significant upside - We aren’t going to miss Diggs at all. 6 Solid DL starters - Oliver, Jones, Rousseau, and Epenesa are all good to excellent. Miller and the rest of the depth are an unknown but guys like Williams, Johnson and Smoot all have significant NFL experience. 7 LB room - maybe the best we’ve had with Milano, Benard, Williams, and other strong depth (Morrow & Jones). Like the rookie to make it even better. Excellent starters at CB - Douglas, T Johnson, and Benford are all very good to excellent. Elam and depth are the questions. Safety - Edwards played well as an injury starter in KC, Rapp did the same here. Bishop could easily beat out one, but that would be a good problem. It would be a great bonus if Hamlin gets back to the player he was before his injury. The Bills, especially on defense, would benefit from staying healthy for a change. However McD knows defense and we weathered Jones, Miller, Milano, White and Hyde’s injuries on defense last season and honestly, I think our depth on defense is more talented than last year even if some are very young. Draftees, Carter and Ulofoshio will strengthen already strong groups. If Solomon proves he can rush the passer in the NFL then all the better. People need to chill. We bring back 8 starters on offense and 9 starters on defense. We have added Samuel and Coleman to the WR group, and brought back Epenesa and Jones. This is a really good football team with the potential to be great.
  22. Under. We drafted Davis to take away some of the short yard punishment from Josh.
  23. I honestly don’t care if Samuel or anyone else has a career year this year. I care that our top 3 WRs, Kincaid and Cook all have solid seasons giving defenses too many dangerous targets to cover. If Knox, Hollins, Davis and Claypool all play well all the better. PS - I don’t think MVS is making the team. Mr Drop-o-matic is just a lesser version of Gabe Davis. Claypool gives us similar size, better speed, and upside potential.
  24. They had 95 last season with Knox out 5 weeks and Kincaid inactive for a week. That works out to 115 catches if both played every week last season. Over! Kincaid might have 100+ on his own.
