  1. collectible spoons....the only way to go
  2. I was at Elvis Costello/Steely Dan show Monday with a buddy. Both of us are 52. He actually asked if I wanted to take a dual selfie. I laughed and said "Hell No". I was floored.
  3. Yeah, I was the exact opposite of phony. I asked for advice on wine and even asked the difference between medium and medium rare, I got confused when he said medium was red in the middle. It didn't dawn on me that medium rare was pink....I was a total amateur and didn't hide it
  4. did you drop the J from your screen name???
  5. I must be missing something...transfer fee is around 3%, that would be $39 in fees...like i said, no financial guru here, quite the opposite..good luck, i hope you decide on a good plan. i do get the feeling you are messing with us big time though...you keep mentioning jokes, but what you are calling a joke seems more like an m. night shyamalan movie plot
  6. i've read through the entire thread and got more confused as time passed, and up front, i don't use credit cards, that said.....what is the credit limit on the lower interest card? did anyone suggest paying the higher card ($1300) using the lower card?
  7. still gives me chills when i see that...
  8. but without those two atomic bombs we never would have found out how useful school desks were in protecting ourselves from attacks, so out of tragedy comes some good.... ...too soon?
  9. Morton's has a similar deal through mid september, $40 for 3 courses...the meat was a small filet, but the sides they gave were definitely enough to share with 3 others. and the dessert was the same serving size, i think. I didn't go that route.
  10. Not sure that show could handle a Eustace AND a Cletus
  11. I told them next time they are in town, my treat at the flying pig in malvern.
  12. like i said, i ordered the bone-in(cowboy/tomahawk) ribeye, but got the center boneless cut, I was being treated so I didn't say anything, but the other guest did notice and asked quietly if I was ok with it to which i responded that it tasted awesome and was VERY happy with it. then the waiter disappeared before our dessert and it took forever. the hosts definitely took note and even commented when he finally came by that we 'can't be here all night'. They considered taking the dessert to go, but when it came and they dug into the key lime pie, they couldn't bring themselves from eating it then and there. I waffled between the creme brulee and the NY Cheesecake., opted for the cheesecake and when it came with a hardened carameled sugar coating on the top, i figured I got the best of both worlds of brulee and cheesecake. it was outstanding. the only issue was the speed of service, the waiter was incredibly personable and helpful in explaining how and what to order....
  13. I believe the children are our future
  14. Not totally related to this thread but just saw this on facebook and found it funny.....
  15. food was terrific, probably the best steak i have ever eaten by a long shot. service was very questionable...they claimed to be surprisingly busy but there weren't more than 6 tables occupied. As I thought about the whole offering to pay the tip part, it dawned on me that that is kind of awkward in and of itself...one of the points to be taken out and treated to dinner is so that you do not have to worry about what it costs...but if you are offering to pay the tip, you need to know how much they spent, at least ballpark, to leave an acceptable tip. he's hung like a frigging horse!
  16. No, I didn't fail any tests. I was praised up and down all night by my hosts, heard back from my friends afterwards and the reports were glowing as to how nice of a time we all had. We were joined at dinner by one of my friends aunts, my hosts sister/sister-in-law, so some of the pressure was alleviated by that. I'm still full.
  17. Ok, so played out like I kinda thought. Barely saw the transaction take place. Good meal, service sucked. Ordered the cowboy ribeye but got the center cut. It was DELICIOUS, so didn't even mention it to the server. Now I've got $100 cash in my pocket
  18. Yeah, that reply was epic, made me laugh as well
  19. Waited for that reply. She isn't here. Just her parents and I.
  20. oh i agree...i suggested my corner bar, The Flying Pig, that is 100% my style and I bring everyone that comes into town there, but yeah, I think they enjoy the finer things in life so I know they know the deal. $60 for meat....wow....that really is out of my comfort level even thinking about that.. the french onion soup and horseradish potatoes really piqued my interest. And yeah, I am not a wine guy, but I love learning about and drinking good wine paired with food. I assume it will be a wine evening which I am perfectly fine with
  21. i eat my steak with ketchup and between 2 pieces of dry toast
  22. Yeah, I was gonna stick with med rare
