  1. Wrong. He is trying to preserve something from the past. Something that was good about the NFL and is now threatened. Ralph could make tons of money by selling the team. He is more interested in his legacy. I am very surprised that Lamar Hunt in KC and Al Davis in Oakland have not come to Ralph defense, at least for moral support.
  2. So what if the Bill drop a few slots and pick Cutler? They can still address OT and DT in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and the extra pick(s) may be a good thing. What if Cutler becomes a pro bowl QB? The draft day grades rarely have anything to reality. Hang tight and enjoy the event.
  3. Good point on AJ but he lacked GM experience and he was going to stick with Butler anyway. One of Ralph's issues with Butler was that Butler did not handle contracts and the business side of the job. AJ would have had those same issues. Butler may have been lower paid but prior to the escalation in front office salaries, Ralph was paying multple people to do the job that some GMs were doing by themselves. Other issues with Ralph and Butler leaving were: 1 - the handling of Wade; 2 - Butler's cap mess and reluctance to purge veterans to get the cap under control; 3 - Flutie-Johnson related decisions (lots of stories about meddling here). Ralph paid TD bigger dollars but gave him much more responsibility. TD failed on his own. TD was drunk with power and that lead to some bad decisions. Ralph was correct to end TD's regime.
  4. I think so many people here just like to complain. It looks fine and is easy to navigate. Check out the interactive depth chart. Click on a position and you see the players names and picture. Click on the player and you get his bio. This feature is quite good.
  5. I think that you cannot really evaluate them until after the 3rd season, by then we should be a playoff team on the rise. The development and emergence of a good QB will be the key factor.
  6. I disagree. We need to keep good players that are in their prime. Nate is that. His prime years fall into the 3-4 year time frame you suggested. Yes, he had an off year but so did the alot of people last year. He is still better than most CB's in the league. I think Nate is a top corner and should be paid fair market value. The Bills need to do this to show that they are willing to pay and keep their best players. Fair market today for a CB is less than it was a few years ago. Lets sign him and take advantage of that good timimg. Drafting a rookie, even in the first round, does garauntee that we get a better player.
  7. Felser's underlying point is that we may get off to a slow start with a new staff in place. If we stuggle early and fall behind in the standings then we may indeed have a tough time selling tickets later in the season. Marv and Co need to field a competitive product.
  8. Well, in this case, the decision is which one of seven oustanding players do I take ... I would agree. However, if the decison involves something truely important, like going to war or voting on key legislation, I would say that Daddy oversimplified things a bit.
  9. Yoyr looking at old mocks. If you drop to 17 Justice will be gone, Ngata will be gone, Bunkley will be gone and Huff will be long gone. The extra 2nd rounder will be nice but we will not find a rookie to start at LT or DT for this season. If you want Justice you might be able to drop to 12. We shall see.
  10. The draft is the key. Both guard positions are worrisome. There are 2 or 3 OG's in the draft that will push to start on our team right now. If we can land Reyes that will improve the line and Preston may develop. Fowler should be an upgrade over Teague. Gandy at LT is just adequate. We will draft his replacement somewhere in the first 3 rounds but its doubtful a rookie will start the season at LT (assuming Brick is not there at 8; Justice may be able to start as a rookie?). To upgrade the talent on OL, we should draft two offensive lineman on day 1 of the draft.
  11. That was a crappy draft. Franklin was a decent WR on a crappy team. Riddick was a good backup RB. He was especially good in short yardage where he had the ability to leap over the line of scrimage and get the needed yardage. His career was cut short by injury or he would have backed up TT longer.
  12. My take: 1- Who knows if Ngata is better than Bunkley or anybody else? 2 - Spencer is NOT the the best OG in the draft according to many "experts" 3 - Allen may not be there in Round 2, and isn't Huff the better prospect? 4 - Bernstein is considered a reach at 4; I doubt a rookie will start, even as a FB.
  13. True but lets not cut Bennie until some one better beats him put.
  14. Living in St. Louis I saw the Rams every week. Fairchilds game is NOT to pass to set up the run, that was Martz. Martz called the plays until he went down. Fairchild brought balance. When Martz went down Fairchild ran the ball and featured Jackson. He also wanted to keep Bulger alive because the Rams line, even with Pace, was just as bad the ours.
  15. 1 - Evans, 2 - Davis, 3 -Reed, 4 - Parish. 5 - Aiken, 6 - Smith, and now 7 -Price, How is Drew Haddad ever gonna crack the line up?
  16. All I know is that it is extremely rare for a rookie DT to step in and quickly make a postive impact.
  17. I think that Clayton makes a few good points, it really is time for Ralph to focus on working within the system and finding ways to keep the team competitive. It appears that Ralph is losing hard earned credibility on the national level by using the press to fight this battle. However, Clayton totally loses credibility by bringing up Norwood. That comment has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Clayton is an amatuer.
  18. First time I ever heard Giambra referred to as rich and powerful?
  19. What obout Overdorf? When do you experts start railing on him?
  20. I guess his HOF carreer means nothing? What a stupid question. He also has front offfice experience, look it up. Who would you have picked for GM that was a more legitmate candidate? Oh, don't tell me, Bill Polian, or Tom Modrak? The OL and DL need to be addressed and they will be, the draft is coming, hold on. Get this thought into your head. We had NO CHANCE at BENTLEY or HUTCH ... NONE, NADA, ZIP. We tried to get Pickett and missed. Unless you want to pay seriously overpay we have no chance ... get over it. The problem with you is that you think you know more you do. Think about all the holes we have and the timing and resources required to fill the holes. So, using tyour logic we pay huge salaries for 2 players today, and by the time our young players develop todays players will be too expensive, on the downside,or both. So we are cutting them and filling more holes. You want to folow the Danny Synder approach and we don't have the resources to do that. NE built through the draft and with mid-level free agents. Mostly through the draft. Once they started winning they were able to get veterans to play for the market value or less.
  21. You have no doubt? Wow, impressive. I think Marv was the right signing at the right time for this franchise. He will bring stability, legitimacy and a solid plan to work from. I think you and lots of others will be surprised and impressed by Juaron. Let's give him a chance. As for our free agents, while we didn't light it up with big names we did add some talent. I think players like Royal and Tripplett were coveted by other teams, including the ones they left. The RFAs that Marv made offers to must have been good players, both teams matched the offers. Too bad we did get them. I for one am happy that we did not spend big money on the few big name players that were available. We have at least a dozen starting positions up for grabs on this team. We are not close enough talent wise to invest big dollars on a few players ... if you think we are then you need to get off of the Donahoe Cool Aid. Maybe we pick a player at 8, maybe we trade down, maybe we even trade out of the first round like you "have no doubt" that we will. Either way, sit back and prepare for yet another rebuilding year.
  22. Here to stopping the Mularkey wishbone reverse, flea-flicker option, center eligible crossbuck, gadget play, on 3rd and 1, from our own 2 yard line with 10 seconds to play. We win 26-20.
  23. I like the idea of extra picks but moving down to 17 may not be a great idea? If we stay at 8 we have a shot at players can start for us right now DT (Ngata or Bunkley), OT (Justice), SS (Huff), TE (Davis). We could (not saying should) grab the top CB or the top OG in the draft too. Who are the possible players to take at 17 that could make an impact at DT or OT?
