  1. If I was picking a team from scratch Bobby April would be my ST Coach.
  2. 1. The QB 2. The entire OL 3. The LBs
  3. Well you named about 7 excellent linemen from the good old days and today we have 3 that are a work-in-progress and a bunch of retreads. It doesn't cost anything to be hopeful. I don't know why you think Bell has more upside than Ken Jones had? If he is simply just as good then I am happy. Wolford was drafted in the first round by Polian to be the LT. His first year he played at guard for grooming, a luxury our neglected OL does not have.
  4. The Pats* are a veteran team and they will be ready to roll. It will be their ofense that carries them. The Jets and Phins are still young teams and both have question marks. The Phins will not surprise anyone. They are not that good. The Jets are interesting. Lots of talent but a sophomore QB that is still learning. They have some weaknesses, their own hype being at the top of the list. I think we can hang with all the teams in our division if we get good play out of the OL and if our defensive front 7 can actually play the 3-4. As usual, it is in the trenches were we could be outmanned.
  5. Good post. Because of #3, #4, and #5 I don't expect to see us sign anybody ... maybe a player in the very thin areas such as TE, LB, or OT.
  6. KOKBILLS, on 28 August 2010 - 01:28 AM, said: Why? I don't get it...Is there a problem? If I wanna pray for the kid to fail that's what I'll do...You pray for whatever you wanna pray for...It's all good... Perhaps you should re-evaluate your suggestion... Just a suggestion... In other words, we have a tendancy to attract what we put out.
  7. The 3rd game is usually the last preseason that you will see the starters get significant time. I expect to see both teams play their starters or number 1 back ups for the entire half. This makes the game a very important tune up for the regular season. I would love to see us win the first half with our starters against theirs. True, the game planning will be vanilla on both sides but it will say something about our talent if we can hang with them. Blocking and tackling can be evaluated no matter the game plan. The second half is important for the marginal players and backups to make a good showing. Cuts are coming and many players are fighting for a spot.
  8. Close. Cut McCargo and keep Mitchell Also you have 9 DBs in your list not 8, and the list totals 52.
  9. Sully has been my #1 suspect for years.
  10. Holy cow the Marv rant was awesome. Haven't seen it in years and previous clips I had seen did not catch the complete disgust he felt toward the reporter. Anyone know who he was yelling at?
  11. I am pleased with Chan so far, and I am ok with his blasting of the teenagers, but it is way to early to annoint him with Saban and Levy. See the bolded statement above. Please recall at a Levy press conference when a reporter alluded to false drug stories about Bruce Smith. Levy went nuts on the guy. Called him and others "jerks". This was broadcast on every major football show for weeks. Levy had his players backs. Bruce Smith expressed sincere gratitude for this because he did have issues in his past. Levy did what Chan did with 100X the impact. Levy handled the entire team, press, and fans as good as you could expect. he did it in a era that was much tougher to do so in. Saban, who I really respect a lot, had his issues with players (Gilcrest and Lamonica certainly come to mind). Levy handled all relationships with class and grace.
  12. If Brady has time he will find the 2nd and 3rd receivers and we are going to be in trouble. Pressure on Brady is the surest way to beat him. See: Super Bowl loss to Giants. Playing the Pats* in bad weather would be helpful if thay are that reliant on the pass.
  13. Our offensive guards are not "beasts". They were good looking rookies and are still learning. The issues you point out are an examples of it. Levitre has played with how many tackles this summer? I would say at least 4. It takes years for a line to jell. It takes years to develop a lineman. The notion that you can plug a #1 or #2 draft pick into the line up is not true. It happens out of necessity (free agency/ salary cap) not by choice. Last year we had 5 new starters on the OL -- every single position was reworked from the year before. Add in all the injuries and a limited coaching staff and it is a miracle we won any games at all. I thought he played in all 16 games last year? As a starter.
  14. Swagger? Lets win a few games. Lets come from behind and win one on the last drive. Lets kick the crap out of someone and dominate a few games. Lets beat the teams in our division. Lets make "The Ralph" a place teams do not want to play in. Then we can start to talk about swagger.
  15. Chan must have needed to release a bit of pressure. All of the recent injuries are starting to slow down the development of his offense. Kind of a good political move to help the players build solidarity.
  16. Nobody in the media cares about details. Today is all about hype, flash, sound bites and the big story. Conventional wisdom last year was that the Bills needed a front office change and only the hiring of a big name like Shanahan or Cowher could resurrect this team. Instead we hired a 70 year old Scout to be the GM and he hired Chan Gailey to be coach. Chan is percieved to be a nice guy, a good coach, a better OC, and about as exciting as watching paint dry. The football world thinks we are irrelevant because of Wilson, Brandon, and the rest of the FO that has accomplished exactly nothing for 10 years running. Some examples of our off season moves that fuel the fire: -- Wilson gets quoted as saying he "did not recognize the names of any other GM candidates". -- Allegedly no "big name" coaches were interested -- Allegedly some "up and coming" coaches turned down interviews -- Allegedly we did not interview some of the "best and brightest" that were available -- Nix counters with a statement that his phone is ringing off the hook with interest -- We did not draft a QB and we need one -- We did not draft a LT and we need one -- We drafted a RB and we do not need one -- We are changing defenses and we don't have the personnel to run it -- The economy is bad, there is nothing to do, and it snows a lot. In todays pop culture talking smack is in, this is not the 60's, 70's, or even the 80's. The players talk trash and so do coaches, owners, and fans. The media promotes it and feeds it. If the Bills are not that bad then they need to prove it on the field and wins some games. If they do that Bills fans will complain about all that are jumping on the bandwagon.
  17. Brees' contract is a great deal .. for the Saints.
  18. Logan is a guard so he does not fill the biggest need which is tackle. Why would the Pats* even want to trade a good player to a team in their division?
  19. Gilbert. That was a "KB Classic" way back in the day. Good stuff.
  20. Now wait. Saimes is on the All Time AFL Team and is on the Bills Wall of Fame. If they had face mask like that in his day he would have worn one just like it.
  21. Jauron definitely had games when he deferred when he should have taken the wind in the 4th Q. He never learned how to play a home game. I would be surprised if it is true that most teams defer. Very interesting to know.
  22. Yes .. two Pro Bowlers down for the count.
  23. Useless but funny. Right now he is the only healthy TE on the roster. Safe to say that he makes it. Lonnie Johnson has a good shot right now. I still think Stupar is below average but hey, he is all we got.
  24. True ... Trent has to lead. He need some big plays early and then I think our defense will work off of the crowd and do a good job. I am coming to town for the game and I can't wait.
