ESPN's Bill Simmons on Trent Edwards
Bob in STL replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amusing? I was bored to death. Nothing about football to back up his statements about Trent Edwards. That article was lousy. -
The corect rotation is no rotation. Play the guy that is hot. Game plan for situations that match their strenghts to the defenses weaknesses. Mix it up and keep them guessing. Make them change to match us. Never be predictable in a set rotation. I want to see a two tailback set in the games. Gailey hinted at this after the first pre-season game. Start with two tailbacks in the backfield and then one splits out wide like a flanker did back in the 60s. This could pull the defense out of the 8 in a box formation and back them off to enable a run (trap or a draw). Or we could pass to a mismatch with a LB covering Spiller or Jackson. We could actually force them to play nickel by using two running backs. Now, do this again but with three wideouts and who covers Parish? Which safety helps with Evans deep? Force them into 6 DBs and Spiller bcomes deadly if he can get one block to spring him past the line of scrimmage. Lots of possibilities all predicated on being able to block.

I think Roosevelt makes the Practice Squad. No shame in that. No other team will take. Every team has a guy like Roosevelt in camp, I guy that looks good and "almost makes it". He looked good but we need to see what Jackson and Johnson can do. They are veterans and have 3 years on him. With Easley out, Nelson was clearly the best looking rookie WR. He will make the squad and be what Hardy was supposed to be.

Whats everyones surprise cuts???
Bob in STL replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. If Lynch gets cut and we lose him for nothing I will really question the FO. In a real game against real defenses: Lynch = 3X Bell Suprise cuts are McCargo and Hardy and I do not know why anyone would actually be surprised. They have not produced and they cannot stay healthy. -
Miami is a 3 point favorite
Bob in STL replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And what is your analysis on the Dolphins game that we won last year? The first key for Buffalo is stop the "simply pressured the QB " part of it. We have to pass enough to keep them honest and off the line. Then we hit them with Spiller. -
Miami is a 3 point favorite
Bob in STL replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love it. What sage gambling advice to give the public. I am going to the home opener and I really think we are going to win. Bills 27 - Phins 20. If we can block I think Edwards can execute the offense. -
C.J. Ah You plays or somebody? Can't remember who? Maybe the Rams? As we are aware, poor teams tend to have lots of other teams cuts.

Clayton's possible Casualties - List includes many veterans
Bob in STL replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very true although Wang, Cordaro, and Sean Allen actually do look like Practice Squad material. Remember that Chambers got cut to start the season last year? Right now he is the #4 tackle and maybe the #3 gaurd. That scares the daylights out of me. So .... what exactly did we do to improve this line rom last year? Losing Butler (solid RG and decent RT) and adding Cornell Green does not look like net positive so far. -
They need a veteran G/C backup. If not, then Sean Allen and Cordaro whats-he-name are next in line. That scares me more than Bell-Green-Meredith-Chambers at the tackle.

Why not keep TO? There is your answer.

What's with all this AFC East Toughness BS?
Bob in STL replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The AFCE is very tough, look at the players, coaches and the style of play. The division games tend to be split among the teams. There is no dominant team, that is part of what makes the division tough. The Pats* have been tough for 10 years and they were 18-1 just a few years ago. Their defense has dropped off but they are very formidible. Jets and Phins play a smash-mouth style and have been built fom the trenches out. The Bills are catching up. They need to show improvement on OL, DL and LB to make strides. QB is a huge question. We have very little at TE and no proven #2 WR. The Bills finally got a tough coach that will improve the mentality of a team that has been a marshmellow for years. -
Nelson makes plays and appears to be a smart player. Hardy? Can't think of any reason to keep him.
-
Yes - I understand we have Bell. After that we have nothing. Chambers looks like the backup RT. He can also play gaurd as you stated. Chambers sucks but we didn't add any veteran help except for Green who looks very shakey to me. You listed six offfensive lineman -- ouch!

Fair trade. Git 'er done Buddy!

Foschi will live another day only because we have nothing else. Moats will make it because he was played well when he does not have to cover anyone... he really is a project. Even his special team play is nothing special. He may be a Practice Sqaud guy. Chambers sucks but he will make it because we have nothing else. Meredith, Green and Wang ... that is it. Brown will be on the Practice squad. Buh bye to McCargo and Hardy.

Use the Chat room NOT the Shout Box for the game...
Bob in STL replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is the Shout box for? Where is the chat room? Can't find the buton. -
Gailey coached Bills -vs- Jauron coached Bills
Bob in STL replied to Kosmo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We could win 5 games and still actually play better than last year, even though they won 6 last year. We could end up with more yards, more points, less yard given up, better time of possession, fewer penalties and fewer turnovers .... and still only win five games. We play a much tougher schedule and our division is getting better, not worse. Added to that we still have the same weaknesses that we had last year. It will take at least two off-seasons to improve the talent and change the losing culture. -
The Bills will be competitive, however, they have been painfully lacking on both OL amd DL, especially against our own division. Example: 1. We have been playing 3-4 teams in our division for nearly a decade and we have done very little to draft or acquire a top center. 2. It seems that we have drafted less OL and DL players in the first three rounds than our division foes. I did not check stats but it seems like it. Especially on the OL.

Would you rather go 7-9 or 1-14?
Bob in STL replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please. Another reason to get the vote down capability working. -
I have not noticed that ... it up to Chan to notice it and fix it, if true.

Philly writer complaining about Eagles O-line
Bob in STL replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately, in todays NFL this is much more common. -
You sure about that? Fitz won 3 or 4 games for us with last years line, injuries, coaching changes, etc. Fitz is a decent backup that can step in and make some plays.
