Seemed to me like the contact/hold of the jersey was why he couldn’t get up higher to make the catch.

I thought that Mitch Trubisky was a sizable upgrade over Kyle Allen. Now it looks like more of a wash. Mitch is more physically gifted but some of the throws today…woof
-
Fair… I watched it again and it look like Mitch sailed it on him. He was open.

I thought Shane Buechele and Joe Andressen were the worst players on the field by far. It was funny watching the broadcast and hearing Tasker gush all over him for being the hometown kid, meanwhile he’s out of position on almost every play.

Last season the OL looked worse in the first preseason game against Pittsburgh. The same game when it appeared that Kenny Pickett would be a contender to win MVP. That statement alone says a lot! What’s more disappointing is that a number of backup players had a chance to step up and make plays and failed: MVS - 2 drops Shavers - 1 big drop Q Morris - lost balance and fell when adjusting for an end zone pass Hamler - fumbled a kickoff Isabella - false start Kingsley Jonathan - Offside penalty The entire 2nd and 3rd OL unit- pure crap Even players like Shane Buechele and Joe Andreesen may have played themselves off the roster with bad performances today. Not a good day at all but this game is meaningless

Wow this was a great video and so “un Marv-like.” IIRC this clip came after months of getting dragged through the mud by Dickerson on WGR. In 1994, the wheels fell off of the Bills Super Bowl teams and he was relentless in his criticism of Marv. The fact that the Bills were in the midst of a losing season after 4 SB runs probably made things that much more frustrating! …and kept him on his staff for 5 years after that.

Joe Buscaglia's Projected 53 man roster as of today
JohnNord replied to MikePJ76's topic in The Stadium Wall
I listened to Joe’s podcast and it was a little weird. He seemed a little pessimistic with this years Bills group and dismissive of some players who flashed in camp - which would explain his prediction that Davidson will be cut. He was also very down on the safety group which makes the release of Edward strange. Only way I can see that happening would be if they brought back Hyde or signed Justin Simmons -
Yardage Predictions for Bills Receivers in 2024
JohnNord replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems about right, I think you’ll see more yardage and receptions for Kincaid and less for Samuel and/or Shakir. Even if he makes the team, I don’t see Claypool getting that many receptions. I’d probably flip your prediction for Hollins and whoever the WR6 will be. -
His offense started out fast but that went into a slump. I thought that he always lacked the counterpunch that Brian Daboll would eventually find in 2020 and 2021

My thoughts exactly and one reason why I always chime in when people passionately defend Dorsey. It’s true the defense played badly but they were missing 3 starters (including their 2 best defenders) and trying to adjust. People forget - after watching the offense struggle each week after they peaked against Miami, we kept saying THIS is going to be the week they get back on track. It never happened. One thing to remember too - last season the same thing happened to the offense as well. They started out hot but ended up struggling to put up points against average to mediocre teams. Then we all know what happened in the post season.

I agree… I think that ball placement and timing is an issue with Josh. I’ve read reports that he worked more on mechanics this offseason. Hopefully that pays off
-
It all depends… if you’re going to use EPA, it’s been well established why that metric was deflated under Dorsey. And by the way, there are many who want to defend Dorsey. Take a look through this thread
-
The offense was also really bad for a 6 week stretch and struggled to score much more than 20 points. Week after week, Dorsey had no answers. The same thing happened down the stretch in 2022. it was the absolute right call to move on.
-
I don’t know… I think overall he was an average OC. His offense seemed to start strong, but ended up struggling when defenses adjusted. What would you label as Dorsey’s signature win as OC? Week 1 vs. LAR?
-
I never understand people who passionately defend Dorsey like this. At best, he was an average OC that struggled to find a counterpunch when the offense wasn’t clicking. His fastball was force feeding the ball to Diggs and the occasional deep shot to Davis. I’d agree with whoever said he lacked imagination. Every possession just seemed like it was so hard to move the ball if there wasn’t a deep shot to Diggs. Some of his passing concepts were just strange with two receivers ending up in the spot on the field. I also don’t think Dorsey did a great job utilizing on offense. This something Brady did a much better job with. In the end, McDermott made the right call turning the page with Dorsey. The struggles on offense in 2023 looked similar to the end of 2022 in spots.

people think the new stadium alone guarantees a SB. There’s many other factors that come into play that Cleveland (and Buffalo as well) doesn’t have going for it.
-
They have… but it was 20 and 40 years ago. I think the NFL wants bigger cities/warmer weather locations now
-
It wasn’t about the snow on the roof. It was more about the overall cost of a roof. It would be a difference of $1.4B for open air versus $2B for domed (at least). Terry knew a heavy part of the cost was subsidized by state and local governments and the additional $600M was deemed too high. Of course, Terry could have offered to pay more but I remember reading Tim Graham’s coverage and he said it was determined that even with the roof, they’d likely never see the return on the investment. The lack of accommodations and infrastructure relative to the location of the new stadium would rule them out for major events like the Super Bowl. It could have led to 1 or 2 more big concerts a year. Maybe an NCAA Final Four or NFL Draft. But the expense wouldn’t justify the return. Plus they claimed fans preferred open air 😂 I just wrote the same thing. Tim Graham’s work echoed the same sentiment about the lack of benefits to justify the cost of the roof
-
So something like 3 cold weather cities over the past 20+ years? I never said it was impossible, but it’s a long shot. If you look at the recent history of SB’s and the future locals there’s a clear trend of warmer weather cities
-
Just like Buffalo (had they built a dome), the chances of Cleveland hosting a Super Bowl is a long shot. The accommodations and infrastructure would be huge question marks. Plus, no one wants to fly into Cleveland in February. The league seems very set on have a desirable “Super Bowl experience.” I know Detroit hosted one but that was 2 decades ago.
-
The helmet is fine… I’d like to see it with the charging buffalo though. The bigger issue is the black helmet with the red uniform. It just doesn’t match. The Bills are long overdue for a 90’s throwback uniform

Tucker is probably #2. I think Butker is better. Still he’s one of the two kickers in the NFL that you trust without hesitation when the game’s on the line.
-
Say what you will about his views, he’s the best kicker in the league - especially when the game’s on the line.

Tre White is doing "great" in Camp
JohnNord replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
He did an interview with Kay Adams and said something like he could have an INT against Buffalo and the his former teammates on the sidelines would be cheering for his. This is so true and IMO it’s the same for the fans of Buffalo. Unfortunately because of his contract and injuries, the Bills had to cut him loose. It sucks but it had to happen -
What I don’t understand is, what was the point of signing him to a three-year contract versus the typical one-year deals most players sign? The Bills coaches have to know that Gable was a long term project and likely not going to make the roster this season. But if they cut him and re-sign him to the PS it’s a one-year deal again.
