If there’s one thing about Beane its that he’s not reactive like that. He will make the big move if it makes sense but he’s not going to mortgage the future for one season. With the recent contracts the Bills signed those high round, cost controlled contracts are all that much more important

To be fair… Florio isn’t the only one who has made this comparison. I don’t necessarily agree with the narrative but until they start winning close games, it’s going to be there. And it sucks. With that being said, there is maybe a 99.5% chance that McDermott is the Bills HC next year and beyond. The situation in Denver was very different in a lot of ways - still it was a ballsy call by Elway to get rid of Fox. Beane doesn’t have that power and Terry has such admiration for Sean he wouldn’t fire him unless the team became a train wreck. In all honesty, he’s done an outstanding job building resurrecting this franchise and building a team. But the bottom line is, Buffalo needs to close out these football games or these narratives will hang around

The Bills have not made a significant in-season move to their roster since signing Kelvin Benjamin in 2017 - McDermott & Beane’s first year. The only way I see a trade happening would be if Johnson and/or Hamlin struggles badly

Here’s the crazy thing though… could Hyde be able to return for a playoff run? Playoffs are in 2023? Dr. Chao reported that if it’s a disc surgery, the recovery is 3-4 months which would put him on track…possibly

I would say so…I’ve also seen people jumping to the conclusion that it is season or career ending. I’m not so sure about that, considering McDermott said he avoided major injury. However, we could be looking at seeing Jaquan Johnson for a few weeks. There are worse players that you could put on the field as a backup safety

I saw someone say that “only the Bills can stop the Bills” and I do think that’s true. Allen is getting to the point where he’s combating everything a defense does. I hate to say it but he’s starting to get the Mahomes treatment…as well as similar results: - Drop 7 or 8 in coverage - run the ball versus a light box - Rush the passer - dump the ball off quickly - Cover 2 protecting deep - dink and dunk to move the secondary up. - blitz - good luck I think unforced errors is what can hurt the offense - INT’s, fumbled, missed blocks etc. With that being said I don’t think they are invincible…but for a team to beat them they will either need to score points or the Bills will really have to turn the ball over.

While he isn’t perfect, the fact that he’s allowed himself to break out a bit out of the old-school Jim Johnson “defense wins championships” mold is impressive. Consider the alternative - Pittsburgh/New England

No one knows…my guess is that he doesn’t play Sunday but that it’s not a long term injury. The good news is the Bills should get Tim Settle back and maybe Oliver

I have been very critical of Edmunds. I don’t think he played as well as you believe he did last week - especially when it came to getting off blocks. However I do not dispute that he had an excellent game last night and was a difference maker. The big sack is just what we are looking for in Edmunds. He made a number of other big plays. These are the type of plays that were lacking from Edmunds. Before you say “the big plays were always there,” that isn’t me saying this. This is what Leslie Frazier and Brandon Brandon said publicly.

I always liked Jerry but he was maddening to watch - especially last season. I could never figure out Jerry over his last few seasons in Buffalo. He regularly found a way to get pressure but he rarely brought the QB down. I can’t explain why. Either the QB would throw it right before he got there or he’d miss a tackle. His pressure rate was excellent but his sacks were extremely low - he had 2 sacks all of last season! Hate to say this but in the playoffs against KC he was very close to sacking Mahomes on the final completion. That kind of summed up Hughes in Buffalo his last few years.

Here’s an interesting tidbit that I’ve never heard before. Tim Graham recently interviewed former NYC writer Bob Glauber who was close with the old NYG Teams I was a bit surprised to hear him say that Brandon Beane was a Bill Parcell guy. Earlier in the interview Glauber spoke about how even into his 80’s Parcells informally consults (for free) with teams because he loves the game. He then says that Brandon Beane is one of those GM’s who use Bill Parcells as a sounding board. Glauber cites the Parcells influence by stating that the Bills were built in an ”80’s/90’s old school way”. meaning that they started with the QB, built the OL, don’t draft for need etc and when they were close enough made the big move to trade for star a WR and sign a big time pass rusher. According to Glauber, Parcells was friends with Dan Henning in Carolina when Beane was a scout. They two hit it off and have been in contact since. Kind of an interesting story because while we’ve heard the influence of GM’s like Dave Gettleman and Marty Hurney, I have yet to see anyone else connect Parcells to Beane. Glauber claimed that Parcell’s imprint is on the way the Bills were built. Oddly enough Parcells is very close with the Elam family and to no surprise look who Beane’s pick this season was… you can hear this at 51:00.

After 1 game?!?!?!

This game was two examples of subpar QB play on both sides. In the end, the difference was Miami’s weapons who bailed out Tua time and time again. Tua’s numbers look so much better than his play would indicate thanks to his skill players. The 47 yard TD was all Waddle and poor tackling by NE. In the second half of the game Miami scored a whopping 3 points. What’s worse is, there are people acting like he played well. He almost turned the ball over multiple times today including in the 4th quarter. As far as NE, the play calling was a f’n abomination but that’s what happens when you have Matt Patricia as your OC. Mac Jones looked inaccurate but in his defense, the receivers on the field could barely get open forcing him to throw in coverage hoping his receivers could make a play on the ball like they Miami’s did for Tua…. it didn’t happen. Mac looked like a different QB than we saw for most of the season. He just don’t have a good play caller or great talent around him I think the end of the road for Bill Belichick illustrious coaching career is drawing near. Two or three of his throws skipped off the turf. He looked especially bad throwing on the run

This is ridiculous… Schwartz could have substituted Tua for Mac Jones and made the same exact point. It’s more about the style of QB who’s accurate throwing short but is hesitant or struggles to push the ball downfield for big plays. Oh they are aware and know it was a misstep. They’ll try to rationale the decision for drafting Tua by comparing the records of both teams which don’t really tell you much.

B. was huge. John Elway wasted a 1st round pick on Paxton Lynch in 2016. Despite having 2 years of evidence that Lynch probably would never make it, he was too proud to cut bait and draft another QB. The other thing that worked in their favor was the board shaped up. Not only did Cleveland pass on Allen they also took Denzel Ward over Bradley Chubb. Denver loved Chubb and refused to trade the pick with the Bills or anyone else. Same thing with Indy and Quentin Nelson at #6.

For sure - when Bass kicked the ball to the goal line, the ST’s coverage was right one. One time the returner took the ball out of the endzone and barely made it outside of the 10

There actually was one run where he looked really quick and gained picked up a decent gain. But the fumble in garbage time was inexcusable. I would agree that the passes to him were futile.

I don’t think this technically true, but what I will say is that Phillips’ role in the Bills defense is perfect for him
