  1. There were many good speeches. I really liked Foxx's. Morgan Freeman might be one of the coolest people on the planet. All the winners were gracious and funny as well. There were no embarrassments either in behavior or clothing. Chris Rock did a fine job. I think he missed the mark by jabbing at Jude Law, but he was self deprecating too, so his jokes worked. He could use some polishing, but I think he could host again. The clips of Carson hosting really made you long for a guy like that to do it again. But he was one of a kind. It was a faster ceremony than most. That was a big plus. On the whole, it wasn't a very remarkable ceremony and it wasn't over the top, but I liked it though. One major pls- very few political rants. I can't stand that.
  2. I can't pull up the sound one. If that guy made a racist remark, then the beat down was justified (maybe not 7 punches, though). Hate to pull a 180 on my earlier post.
  3. I saw that on another site too. 4 years with that guy behind bars is good news for society. They need to throw the b**ch that started it away too. Lets hope she waddles in the street and gets hit by a truck.
  4. People that complain of property taxes in Buffalo should talk to San Francisco and San Diego people who spent 750,000 on their 2 bedroom shack and then another 15k a year to send their kids to a private school because the public schools suck.
  5. Yeah, we have all what you list there, plus bad weather and a higher cost of living. Minus the good baeches and hot chicks in bikinis and add in lots of sour girls with crap attitudes. San Francisco can be alot of fun. But, i've been here so long, I don't know what else I can do. It's like a drug addiction and I can't shake it. Sometimes I wish a major earthquake would desrtoy this whole city and then I'll laugh my way back to Buffalo. At least we destroyed the Niners last year.
  6. Let's not forget Coppola losing to bob Fosse as best director (Godfather vs. Cabaret). Yuck! Then they ignored Paul Giamtti this year in Sideways. Polar Express isn't up for best anaimated film. What is up with the Academy? It's a joke. They love to pat themselves on the back and congratulate themsleves on how important and great they are. I watch just to see how stupid the celebrities are.
  7. I'll be there too. I'm planning on the San Diego, Oakland and New Orleans games. My experience in the past with San Diego has been to get tickets through the San Diego BB club. I've sat in the upper deck in the same location both times. They normally sell out the games in San Diego, so you don't want to wait too long. Contact the BB club there, they will get the seats. San Diego is a great place to see a game. The city is awesome and the weather is terrific and there are great bars and hot chicks everywhere. You can't ask for better. The Bills bar in Pacific Beach (Blind Melons) always has a number of events going on too. You will see lot's of Bills fans in town that weekend. Fo the Oakland game here, the Bills Backers will probably do another North Star bus/party for those interested. Oakland isn't nearly as much fun as San Diego. Also, the Bills probably should win next year, so it'll be dangerous. Nothing like a good stabbing to celebrate a Bills victory. San Diego has mellow fans. They are all stoned and still looking around for the guy that stole their skateboard in the 9th grade.
  8. Some crazy people live out here, so nothing is impossible or shocking.
  9. Here are the headlines from TBD from Jan' 98: Rumors persist that Buffalo will seek Flutie (D & C) Easy going Phillips is the right man to lead the rebuilding (D & C) Leo Roth column. 'This is the job I wanted' (D & C) It's official: Phillips installed as Levy's successor (AP) Phillips takes over as Bills coach today (D & C) Bills set to name Phillips new coach (ESPNet) ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that Wade Phillips has accepted a four year contract to coach the Bills. A salute to Marv and round-of-8 romps (ESPNet) The Swami, Chris Berman, pays tribute to Marv. Bills may name Phillips today (D & C) Bills' Levy steps down (Montreal Gazette) Columnist writes about Marv's CFL days, and also what a good friend Marv has been in dealing with his own prostate cancer. Levy Calls It Quits (New York Daily News) Marv Levy Retires as Coach of Bills (New York Times)
  10. Duffs are my favorite in Buffalo. I go to the one on Southwestern Blvd. on the OP/West Seneca border. There is no good wing place here in San Francisco. Someone should open a good wing place here, it will make a mint.
  11. It did explain some puzzling things like what happened to the Orc general and had some scenes with Borimir and Farimir together. Those are great movies, but I'm burned out for the time being. I've seen them way too many times. Really looking foward to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. For those that haven't seen the trailer, I highly recommend finding it. It looks great. That'll be the big one this summer (at least as big as Sith, I predict).
  12. The new Battlestar Galactica is pretty good, but it's on Fridays at 10 pm. Who is home on Fridays at 10 pm?
  13. Interesting idea. I was bummed that Maul made an early exit yet the character of Jar Jar lived on to annoy.
  14. Yeah I read some stuff about him on some sites. He is a Jedi killer and displays their lightsabres as trophies on his belt. He wasn't ever a real man, he was created as a combo of both man and machine. I'll bet there is a great fight scene with him and Obi-Wan.
  15. I think General Grievious looks like a badass character. He is like Darth Vader, evidently. He is more of a machine than person now. One of the best character in this series was Darth Maul and he got whacked too soon.
  16. WARNING- there are many movie spoilers here. I think it looks like it will be very good and much better than the predecessors, http://www.super-baris.com/ep3/
  17. A buddy of mine works for ESPN magazine and was out with Eli a few months back in NYC. They were ripping it up all night and hit it off pretty good. Or so he thought. The next night he saw him again at a party and Eli had no idea who he was. Even after he recounted hanging out with him the night before all night, all over town. Granted they were very drunk, but I think Eli ain't so sharp.
  18. Where can you see some of the photos? I can't find them.
  19. Someone call Avril Lavigne and tell her she sucks. I wonder which number is her drug dealer? He's got to be sweating it out.
  20. I salute you and your wonderful link. May you be blessed with free beer all weekend.
  21. I thought it was alright, but not great. It tried to be too clever and there were too many plot holes as a result. I'll give credit though- it was better than most of the crap in the theatres these days.
  22. The first line of that article is not good.
  23. It would also be better to see them in Buffalo early on. We have a better shot there. I'd hate to go there 2nd or 3rd week and get killed. It's really put a damper on things. Beat them at home then go there later in the season. Weather isn't a factor for them, so it's not like we need them visiting us in Dec.
  24. My concern would be that we end up with a young guy like Johnson that doesn't want to be in a place like Buffalo and never integrates into the community. He ends up living in a hotel and the only reason he is there is to get directions to get away from there. Every chance he gets, he runs back to California and bad mouths his situation. Bledsoe for all his faults, was at least the kind of guy that fit right into Buffalo.
