I'm glad this happened for a few reasons, none about Manziel personally. I think too many guys believe the CFL is a joke and they can just wing it there. Manziel came out and said this offseason that he didn't really learn the Brown's playbook and that his coach's should have held him to a higher standard. In both cases, I hope it serves as a wake up call and he stays with them the full 2 years to turn it around. I think it's a good fit for him. Also, no idea TJ Graham was in the CFL too.

Then our defense is terrible. You can't have it both ways

They rarely make second level tackles in practice. They chip each other. The running game always looks strong that way.

Does the fanatic reality ever lessen your hype?

I’d like to take a moment and apologize for creating a thread that somehow led to a discussion about soccer. If I need to have my account banned or wear socks with sandals for a month, I’ll understand. -
Aaron Donald. Are the Rams thinking of trading him?
Virgil replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the franchise tag has become less and less relevant as the salary cap has expanded like it has. The transition tag makes sense to me still, but that’s about it -

If it wasn’t for the franchise tag, we would have the money to go after Donald and Mack next year. Brady might reconsider his 4-5 more years idea -

Can we afford to carry 3 active QB’s all season?

I don't think Peterman would clear waivers, but I do think he'd still be the odd man out. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to fetch a 6th rounder for him to a QB needy team. If Allen is going to be the future, I can't see a reason to carry 3 once you decide on your starter. That's why I'm hoping they give McCarron and Peterman all the snaps they can to make that call and let the other one go. I think the roster spot is too important with our lack of quality starters and injury possibilities with our O-Line and WR's -
I found myself in the situation again of explaining why no other sport compares to Bills Football season to me. I like the Yankees and am emotionally attached to them too, but it's nothing like the Bills I'm going to the preseason game next Thursday, two camps, the season opener in Baltimore and the home game against the Titans. I've been on here for over a decade and can remember so many genuinely emotional moments when watching this team. Almost all rants on my Facebook are Bills related and I watch the draft like it's a holy event. With that being said, do you ever stop and think about the fact that our starting MLB just turned 20? That most of these guys are millionaire kids who play a game? Even though it's about the Red Sox, I love the movie fever pitch. There's a scene where the Sox just lost a playoff game and they are seen out after the game having dinner. They are relaxed and having a good time while onwatching fans miserable from the game. And at that moment, the fan realizes that he cares more than the actual players. So I ask, ever have those moments where you ask "What am I even getting upset about?" That at the end of the day, it's a game and you're reaction on the couch or in person is completely irrelevant to the actions on the field? And I recognize the irony of posing this question as I'm nearing my 4,000th post on a Bills Message Board ?

But wasn’t it Webb and he served a dual purpose? Also, I think we had to do some weird roster work to keep it that way. That’s the reason I’m asking. -
With our relative lack of depth and quality in certain positions, and now that we can’t stash any of our guys on the practice squad, as well as the inability to give Allen any reps if kept as a 3rd stringer.... Is it far fetched to think that either of the other guys don’t make the team? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it was a struggle for a few games last year to field a roster with more than 2 QB’s active.

"Ruining" a QB by starting him too soon
Virgil replied to Buffalo86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is probably one of the bigger debates out there. I used to believe in the Aaron Rodgers approach, but I didn’t think that’s possible in today’s NFL. GM’s get a 3 year window or they lose their jobs, so they get desperate. Garoppolo is an interesting case. Did he get that good behind Brady or was it just there? I don’t buy the confidence thing. To be an NFL QB who’s going to make it, a bad season isn’t going to ruin you. If it did, then you weren’t going to make it anyways. I think the examples given are poor. Most of the greats start with limited playbooks and average about 150-200 yards a game. Look at Big Ben and Brady. You also had the pure gunslingers like Peyton and Stafford. They just were never going to be slowed down and had to learn in different ways. The biggest factor overall is “can they learn?” I don’t put any stock into a teams success until game 9 when other teams get enough tape on you. That’s when defenses adjust and shut you down. THAT is where the good QB’s get separated from the bad. Just like a hitter off to a hot start in baseball. Pitches learn you can’t hit away and you fall apart. Great hitters learn to lay off. They either have the intelligence to adapt and confidence to push through or they don’t. Brady had a crap deep ball and learned. Rodgers was inaccurate and learned. Confidence and ability to overcome with the basic skill set. -

Regular season overtime question
Virgil replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because if you don’t recover the onside kick, the opposing team is basically in field goal range. With onside kick recoveries being so rare, it’s not worth it. Unless it’s the Dolphins vs the Bills -
Seems like a good topic...for the Cardinals board. I wanted Rosen as much as the next guy, but he’s now the enemy

I think guaranteed contracts ruin baseball, but their players don't get paid to start their careers much at all. I would like to see half guaranteed, half incentive based contracts. Or, some kind of buy-out option that protects the team and player in case of injury. Incentives make the most sense in case the player craps the bed
