Shady McCoy spelled it out with regard to Kaepernick years ago: the amount of distraction or nuisance a team will tolerate from a player is proportional to their talent and value to the team. If the player is uber-talented like Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady or Shady McCoy himself, the tolerance is higher. If he's mediocre or questionable, the tolerance is low. Good grief. Of course the route chart from one individual game isn't all the Jets are looking at. You said that Davis is always running go routes. The point is, he's not. The second point is, the defense, the safety in particular, isn't looking at Davis routes in isolation. They are looking at patterns, route combinations. What are the other receivers running? I'm not sure what "last play against the Ravens a few years back" you're talking about. I think you might be confused between Davis and another, sometimes un-crisp route runner John Brown and the 2019 Ravens game. There was a last play where Brown was unable to pull in a contested catch in tight coverage where it was clear if he'd run a better route, he could probably have gained some separation and made the catch. Our two more recent games against the Ravens have been wins, and Gabe Davis was not involved in the last couple of series much less a "last play". "What's in your head? In your head? On one of those receptions, the guy in coverage flat out stopped and knocked Kincaid down. Kincaid picked himself up and made the catch anyway. I suspect that all-22 is going to show that Kincaid was out-physicaled on a number of routes. Knox had a good low throw go through his hands. I was pissed about that push-off call on Diggs because I thought the Jets DBs were playing us very physical and "handsy", which of course is "part of the game". See above. You're correct it was a sloppy route, but I don't think a crisp route fakes the safety, because of the route combo. Davis goes to the sideline in that route combo.

Very tough to tell from the TV but I know we did have some folks at the game ( @Mango?) On at least a few plays, I saw Rapp on the field, seems as though Poyer and Hyde were there too. Who was Rapp subbing for?

Dude, get off his eyes, they don't matter here. The defense watches film. The Bills and Allen have become too predictable. What exactly else, what other routes, did Allen have to look at, that you believe would have moved the defense? They were bad decisions - the first was possibly defensible as it was 3rd and long and a punt was inevitable. The 2nd pick was on 2nd down and the third - w00f. You are correct. The problem with the read is, the safety knew he could jump the route because it's been on film with Allen to Davis, a bit too often. And if the Bills don't fix this, and fix this fast, every other safety they play is going to be watching for that.

You're correct that there was no "staring down of receivers", but staring down or not, other teams have seen that scene from the movie before - the one where Josh hangs in and is gonna throw it deep to Diggs (or Davis) regardless. The safety knows there are pickings to be had and where they're gonna be. It's true that Davis did not run a route that faked out the safety, but here's the thing - that's a route that Davis has run (and Josh has burnt teams with) a few too many times. Davis could have had shifty hips like Diggs and the safety would have been "Not Today, Fella". There's a phrase "going to the well once too often". In this case, it's going to the well many times too often.

I'm sincerely sorry that Rodgers attempt to prove greatness with multiple teams ended as it did. But my inner snark must be freed to say: I'll just bet the former #2 overall pick of the NY Jets, benched for Rodgers, is perfectly sincere that he loves him right now. Zach Wilson's outer voice: "I love you, Aaron". Zach Wilson's inner voice: "Goodbye Rodgers, Hello Career". 17 is 27, not pushing 40. All of us who lived that long, learned we were all more durable in our 20s than our 40s.

Let's give props to your defense. Your defense played very well. Your RBs played well. And Garrett Wilson looks like Truth. But Allen gift-wrapped three interceptions and a fumble and handed them to you. Two of those throws and arguably three, should never have been made. Your defense didn't interfere with the snap and cause Allen to lose it, nor did your defense force Allen to run after he recovered it. Given those errors in judgement and mistakes, again, Give Props - you Finished. Kudos.

The second INT was thrown on second down. Punts happen on 4th down. That was absolutely not a punt. It was a bad decision to throw deep into the middle of the field with a safety back there, while he's about to be hit. The fumble happened because Allen lost focus and took his eyes off the snap, then instead of just going down, he tried to make something happen and ran into traffic, putting both himself and the ball into harms way.

In case you weren’t watching, Diggs let the DB get position on him on the deep ball where better tracking could have at least let him defend. Diggs also got called for a penalty. Obviously the loss is on Allen, but let’s not please canonize Diggs.

He's playing for San Francisco now. I think he dressed but didn't play. Well, that's fair, but a lot of people (including in media) claim an identity for a team that under performs after 1 season. Heck, after one game - lots in this thread saying the Giants are stupid to have paid Jones and will be calling for Daboll's head, implying their identity (after playoffs and an overachieving winning record last season) is checked-out losers.... ....we'll see. Last year the Giants played scrappy. They would get down early (like to the Titans opening day) and they wouldn't quit - they would fight and claw their way back into it, (won Titans game by 1 point). They were down to the Packers 20-10 at the half and won. They over-achieved. They lost to the Cowboys 2x but both were close, 1 score games. So the question is, was this an aberration where for whatever reason they weren't as prepared as they thought, played like they wanted to be anywhere else, and didn't fight? Or is this a sort of "regression to the mean" where it's pretty common that a new coach takes over and the team initially plays harder and is more focused and wins more games, but then the following year the magic wears off.
