  1. You might have to wait 40 or more years for a return, but hey, why not?
  2. It's entirely possible that I make it to 90+. Both of my grandparents, on my mother's side, lived into their 90s. They both smoked into their late 70s (until their neighbor got cancer and started to use a fake voicebox, which flipped them out, so they quit), and did not consume alcohol nor vegetables. My mom is in particularly good shape for a woman of 80; I bet that she hits 90 and am calling it now. My dad is doing well, as well, at 84. We don't have cancer history for the most part thankfully, tapping wood, but heart disease and diabetes come to us later in life. I'm going to get smoking put back in the box in 2022, and hopefully once and for all. Still, not bad odds, so long as I don't lose cognitive nor physical abilities before their time. Because that would ***** suck, as somebody who's pretty active for the most part.
  3. Very cool responses, one and all. As I mix tunes as a second career now, and my music obsession continues, a friend and I were talking about the most unique bands that we've ever heard. May start a thread about that one... can never say too much about music. 🙂
  4. I was going to smoke some burgers, then roast some brussels and potatoes. My wife instead has this short rib / red wine / onion thing going in the oven and it's driving me insane as I sit here!
  5. Great call! Sensor versus timer is a mind boggling situation in the 21st century. It's 1am, I live in Maine, and nobody is around. Why am I waiting at a red light?! Now that we got rid of phone as part of "cutting the cord", I think that I can get a suitable replacement modem at reasonable cost. It was tough to get the ones, cheaply, with telephony before.
  6. Indeed, that's where you'd wear your top hat and monocle to send a wire to friends about the upcoming hootenanny. Spectrum, tho? The *worst*. We basically "cut the cord" over Thanksgiving, and it took 90 minutes to return our cable box and remote. Insanity!
  7. So true. How could I forget the DMV?! Luckily, ours has an electronic portal for most renewals, but yeah, when you need to go there for a license renewal or title transfer or whatever, it's absolutely ***** brutal. Correct, and great call! I checked out PPP here... once.
  8. I think that this curmudgeon gene kicked in after I received my first AARP card this past fall. Part of this manifests itself in how frustrated I get when wasting my time at various local establishments -- when I'd rather be doing something else, something more productive, and just a general understanding that I will never get those minutes/hours/days of my life back. Without further ado, and in no specific order... Car dealerships / service departments Cable company "customer service" offices (either by phone, or worse, in person) Check out line at supermarket (self check out is a lot faster, but sometimes you just have enough in your cart where it's impractical for self check out) Banking / Bank of America customer service Asking for help, even a tiny bit, at a Home Depot or Lowe's What are yours?
  9. SO TRUE, and so familiar! I also have the "yellow castle" set, and I bet that all of the pieces will allow the dedicated builder to piece everything together, given that about 5 different sets (the 1970s base set, a late 1970s extender set, two rocketship sets, and the yellow castle) have ended up in the same plastic tubs, unsorted, over the years. And I agree with you that the best part of LEGOs is tearing the base build down then riffing and creating your own things.
  10. True, and that's the reason why I divested from gaming a long time ago. $50+ a pop was a thumbs down for me, no matter how cool the game.
  11. The Dark Lord (Ozzy) Plant Freddie Mercury Bruce Dickinson
  12. Awesome choice re: wine country. In my drinking days, was a go to, as was Willamette Valley in Oregon.
  13. They didn't have a square to spare. This is no time for complaints.
  14. Oh, are you the person I saw washing his junk at the sink in DEN airport?
  15. I really like Austin, TX. I used to work there a lot as a sales engineer, and finally I bragged enough to my wife about the brisket and oddball culture that we went there for our anniversary in 2019. Having written that, and no I'm not joking when I write this: Omaha, Nebraska. Fun city, and food kicks ass.
  16. She could also ask, rhetorically, if he ate his Chunky soup.
  17. During the drought, I'm not sure that the Bills were as bad as the Saints look right now.
  18. Great victory yesterday, but two more are needed to get a handle on where this season is going to land. Lots of good teams have shown up over the past month and a half, and given the Bills' production during that time, there are zero gimmes.
  19. Reading his work is like taking a road trip on the NYS Thruway and buying a bag of Combos "for the road". They taste good going down, but...
  20. Correct. I think we all agree that the Gregggggggg Williams coaching regime here was a total abortion. And yet, Sully went on (and on and on and on and on) about how these "teachers" couldn't get a Rob Johnson-led team to the playoffs in 2001. Well, duh. Not even the Ghost of Drew Bledsoe could help in 2002 or 2003 under the same regime. Sully "tells it like it is" to the extent we believe that he understands what he's seeing, or that he's even watching at all. At some point he's just a destitute man's Dan Shaughnessy, and you can't even make a career of carping about the Curse of the Bambino when it comes to the Buffalo Bills.
  21. We shall see. That was the best game that I've seen in almost a year. If this is the win that gets them back on track to go deep, then godspeed.
  22. Maybe she was a YouTube journalist? But it's fun to troll BB given all of shenanigans over the past 20 years, though.
  23. I mean, given that I think that at times Josh runs counter to odd stuff in the O scheme, I think that he could win the Lombardi without the same coaching, like 100%. He's that good.
  24. So true. Unfortunately, I think it would be probably $2k for us -- since we already have two boxes, which are both full, and would probably need a third one in the garage.
