  1. I love how you’re using the Vikings as an argument for why you should do what the Redskins did with Cousins. The team that paid Cousins has done way better than the team who wouldn’t pay him.
  2. That’s true. I should have removed that part. I added the disclaimer at the bottom when I realized the discrepancy in the charts we were referencing, but I left the first line in.
  3. I understand that. It’s why I specifically noted that I was referencing something different. I thought it was interesting that there wasn’t a discernible correlation between performance against zone defenses and how often opponents used it against specific QBs. The OP insinuated that there may have been a correlation. As you noted, the data didn’t support that. I don’t know how much more I can spoon feed the fact that I agreed with you.
  4. My post literally said “I’m referencing the chart showing their performance against zone vs man rather than how often they faced it. There doesn’t seem to by much or any correlation regarding how often they face it.” According to the data in that article, inaccurate passers perform better against zone. They don’t face more of it.
  5. Contrary to your posting style of being an unrelentingly insufferable prick, not every comment is a fist fight. I literally agreed with your comment, but don’t let that stop you from doing what you do. I’d say you could read the entire post before spouting off and looking like a jackass, but it won’t help. It seems to be all you know.
  6. Rodgers was second, and he’s the outlier. The top 5 other than him are Newton, Bortles, Taylor, Carr, and Mariota. Not exactly a bunch of surgeons. The opposite end of the spectrum was Brees. Osweiler was next, but his numbers were horrible against both, so that doesn’t matter much. Then it was Brady, Stafford, and Cousins. There’s a pretty strong correlation. (I’m referencing the chart showing their performance against zone vs man rather than how often they faced it. There doesn’t seem to by much or any correlation regarding how often they face it.)
  7. It’s why I’ve continually praised Whaley and McDermott for the 2017 draft even though they passed on Mahomes. They had a plan, and they executed it perfectly. The plan was to load up on draft capital to grab one of the QBs in 2018. They did exactly that and still managed to come away with a star CB in 2017 after trading back. You can fault them for not taking one of the QBs in 2017, but if Watson and Mahomes were obvious can’t miss guys, they wouldn’t have been there at 10. You can fault them for identifying Allen as their guy instead of trading up higher for Mayfield or Darnold or passing on Jackson if one or more of those guys ultimately turn out to be a better player. That’s a matter of talent evaluation and development rather than of draft strategy, though. I see no way to fault them for the way they executed the plan, as that was flawless. For all the crap he gets, turning the 2017 first round pick into Tre White, a third rounder in 2017, and an extra first rounder in 2018 was pretty impressive.
  8. Yeah, that was bad. The timing of the play was a little off, so I can sort of see how they could have thought the snap hit Ivory or something in real time. No excuse to not get it right after the review, though. Even worse is they confirmed it rather than just saying the call stands.
  9. 2017 they drafted Mahomes 2018 they traded to the Bills for the Mahomes pick 2019 they traded for Frank Clark 2020 they drafted Edwards-Helaire
  10. You must be thinking of a different game unless it got overturned. The only fumble in that game was on a scramble when Allen was two yards downfield and got hit from behind. He had the ball tucked but still lost it. The play wasn’t even remotely similar.
  11. Because it doesn’t matter that the ball may have gone straight down. Mayfield made a forward movement with his arms, and that’s all that matters. (It was pretty clearly traveling forward if you watch the slow motion replay on gamepass.) “When a player is in control of the ball and attempting to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his hand starts a forward pass.“
  12. How is this even a question? It was obviously a forward pass.
  13. There isn’t a one size fits all strategy because every situation is different. I like the move to get Diggs because the Bills are officially in their window to win now. In most scenarios, I believe in using draft picks to land good players or spending free agent dollars to sign good players, but I’m not a fan of giving away draft picks for the right to pay top contracts to players.
  14. NFL fans suck. I used to post on chiefsplanet, but that place is basically a white supremacist site these days. It’s a really good site for football talk, but damn. Kansas City is a great city, though. Tons of Chiefs season ticket holders are from middle of nowhere towns and have nothing else in life beyond the Chiefs. The city gets overrun by trashy losers 8 weekends a year, unfortunately.
  15. They’ve already paid Hill long term. You might want to retire from making predictions about Mahomes and the Chiefs (or don’t because I like laughing as people fall on their faces).
  16. Should they draft Trevor Lawrence, or would they be better off signing Pat Mahomes?
  17. Good stats in college don’t necessarily translate to NFL success, but bad college stats almost always translate to lack of NFL success.
  18. Evidently you don’t care about high school stats, JuCo stats, college stats, or NFL stats. If you can find one successful NFL QB with worse college stats than Allen, I’d be impressed.
  19. Pat Mahomes is the one who threw 41 TDs and 10 INTs and 5052 yards his junior/final season. Allen is the one who threw 16 TDs and 6 INTs with 1812 yards his junior/final season. If you take Pat’s three most prolific games his final season (Arizona State, Oklahoma, and Baylor) he threw for 1860 yards, 16 TDs, and 3 INTs.
  20. What is left to prove? If 33 total TDs, 11 INTs, and 5200 yards of total offense don’t ‘prove it’ then nothing will. There’s not a team in the NFL that wouldn’t take those numbers from their QB in 2020.
  21. His middle school coaching set him back decades.
  22. So the Cowboys front office couldn’t build a winner around him when he was making $600,000, but we’re to believe they can build one when he’s making $35,000,000 but not when he’s making $37,000,000? I doubt it. Get paid, Dak. Jerry got $150,000,000 worth of QB play from Dak for about $6,000,000 over the last few seasons. Don’t ask workers to sacrifice for the good of the business (the owners). There’s not an owner in the world who would sacrifice a trophy to pay a player more.
  23. Redskins: Let Cousins walk because they didn’t want to pay him $30,000,000. Traded a second round pick and a 23 year old starting CB to the Chiefs for a 36 year old QB. After that QB broke his leg, they are still paying him well over $20,000,000 a year for two more years. They have also started Case Keenum and spent a high first round pick on Haskins. Coming off a 3 win season, they are among the favorites in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. Chiefs: Traded their soon to be backup QB for draft capital and a starting CB who recorded an interception in their Super Bowl win. Vikings: Signed Cousins who has thrown 56 TDs and 16 INTs and won a playoff game. Mr. WEO: Thinks the Redskins made a shrewd deal and that the Dallas Cowboys should follow that blueprint and tie their wagon to Andy Dalton...the same Andy Dalton who got benched last season for Ryan Finley.
  24. Let’s blame the QB for losing to the 49ers. He only went 21-29 passing against the best pass defense in football. Never mind the fact that his team had 21 yards rushing and gave up 186 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. I guess they were wise to think the guy who had 1 playoff win in his 13 year career when the other team didn’t get shutout was about to blossom in his late 30s. You see, Alex was very raw due to poor middle school coaching. He was just about to hit his stride at age 38.
  25. So do you think the Redskins are better off with their current situation than they would have been if they paid KC that money? I sure don’t. Then again, I’ve never visited the cap space HOF. Maybe it’s a hidden gem.
