yes. It’s ridiculous. Mind you, if he was suspended 12 games or more (much more would have been the right thing to do) his contract would have tolled, but, he still gets $44mil and change this year in signing bonus. So with 11 games he’s losing practically nothing. Now, his $1mil base salary is chopped 11/17th. Wow, what a punishment. And the scumbag still claims complete innocence while the owner stands right next to him contradicting that.

11 isn’t odd when you factor in he needs 6 games for his giant guarantee to kick in next year as opposed to 2 years from now. The league caved, they should be ashamed.

Just guessing here, but it’s possible the suspension length aspect is settled (and I think the league is not budging on the year long duration of it, because, as you say, the NFL will be crucified all over again if it’s shortened to 8/10/12.) What could still be at issue and what the two sides are still hammering out are things like the fine amount and mandatory counseling, things like that.

He’s nowhere near ready to play now. So he’s not taking reps away from anyone, young or older. He also doesn’t cost a roster spot until he’s near ready to play. So again, even if signed tomorrow, not taking reps away. What if one of these promising young guys busts out? Gets in trouble? Injured for the year?

I don’t understand how signing OBJ and releasing one player to make room for him would in any way be considered “blowing up” their roster. Help me out here
