As has been called out in this thread, this has been largely a Buffalo story. It will soon become a national story and that is what could eventually change our direction.

I would be willing to make a wager that no coach in NFL history has lost more playoff games his offense has scored 24 points in. He might be tied, but almost certain he holds that distinction. It's not common. We have 3 in franchise history and 4 with Allen.

If we just never talk about how improbable it is that Allen and the Bills have not reached a Super Bowl then it will just go away right? Until it happens, this will always be front and center. I think that's something you need to deal with.

I would certainly agree that this iteration has provided an environment to be successful where previous versions have not. I always thought JP could have done something in the right situation. He's since gone into coaching and been applauded for his knowledge of the game and maturity. Pretty talented player as well.

20 years without a viable QB will make a franchise look really bad. Just like an MVP at the position will make it look really good. Hard to be successful in the first situation and hard not to be in the second.

I remember when the Colts went thru this with Manning, who we share so much with, just thinking, can't they see this is Dungy? How do they keep going back to this. Mind you, Manning at the time certainly wasn't delivering what Josh is, but I just didn't understand how nobody could see how destine that team was to fall apart in the postseason. Then how they just ran it back year after year. They did end up getting one. It took a miracle comeback on offense and one the weakest NFC Super Bowl candidates in NFL history in the Bears, but they got the ring. That is what I view as the best case scenario for us. We might get one. We probably could of had 3 or 4. McD isn't stupid and Dungy isn't either, but they're very similar in strategy, scheme, culture, process, etc. They're both builders not finishers. Both are elite at building a foundation and culture. People think the end result of building something like that is inevitable but that's just not the case. It takes different qualities to climb Everest as it does to reach the summit. But here we are, what are we supposed to do? Just fling negative energy all the time? His success is our success and he will be the HC here for the foreseeable future. I want him to do it. I hope he can. Going to lay off and enjoy the season at this point. Too much negative otherwise.

They have no examples of it. Nobody is saying anything that would suggest as much. It makes certain posters more comfortable to dismiss these opinions as byproducts of hate so they can ignore validity or distract from the topic. The argument has always been he fails in the postseason. It hasn't been anything else. I don't think I have even insulated him before by calling him stupid or this or that. He's just not the guy you want chasing a Lombardi.

He's at the very least above average. If I need 10 wins in the NFL in the regular season I would pick him over anybody in football. What does that say about our broader goals? Not much. Which is what the conversation is about to me at this point.

Yes, I'm lying to myself about my emotions, about my teams head football coach. I don't have energy in my life to hate somebody I don't know and will never meet. I enjoy debating and I strongly disagree with your takes and others out here. Which means literally nothing for how I feel about Sean freaking McDermott. It's better for people like yourself to simplify this topic into such basic things to dismiss the validity of the opinion. Happy to come back to this thread in a few years and we can see whose opinions were more valid.

You're so out of the loop with how this actually is. No hate here, still proud of the team. Still hopeful for the season. Still want to see this regime win a Super Bowl. Still feel everything else I said the other day. Life's challenges and thoughts don't fit in neat little boxes.

Add me in for a 3rd. I was a huge NFL historian growing up. Taped anything I could. He was one the all time best. His voice is football. Jealous of the guys who got to see the game back then.

I'm good with this take. If I get some time tomorrow I will take a look at how he has done with one or both Chase and Higgins out. I know they have missed a lot of time. I'm sure he has a decent sample to consider.

I think he would be just fine without them. He's the the best pure passer in football. One of the only ones left who play like QB's used to play.
