Keon Coleman success by route - Not pretty
MasterStrategist replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure, but who are you saying "should have been elite", but isn't? I've yet to see a player leave Buffalo and all of a sudden reach an entire new level of higher play. -
A list like this that has Jayden anywhere other than #1, is just garbage to start. No GM is taking Penny over JD

Always find it comical, half this board has the patience of my 7 yr old. Coleman wasn't even drinking age when we drafted him LY...cue the Edmunds jokes. People need to learn patience and very few on here see the traits as to why Beane drafted him, and can project those. Now will Coleman hit that ceiling, up to him. But he has put on more muscle, looks quicker this offseason. Based on how we use him (Adot 15.2), we needed him improve his strenghth at route breaks and mainly downfield at the catch point. He's a freak athlete, I could careless about his forty. He gets stronger at the catch point, that won't matter. He's also one of the WRs Josh coveted out of last years class. Point being, player progression year 1 to year 2 is a big deal. James Cook, Terrel Bernard, Shakir, Spencer Brown...list goes on. This team has a knack for getting year 2 jumps, Kincaid aside. Give this kid a chance before you write him off - he showed glimpses last year, has been working his tail off this offseason. -
First need to be relatively healthy, but I still put alot of issues on talent 1st, coaching 2nd. We have a LOT of ex players sitting on no team right now: Von,Rasul, Phillips, Jefferson- then traded a bust in Elam, and signed Hamlin back for peanuts. All these guys played a key role in the Chiefs game/snaps. Im hopeful Beane made the right decisions/investments this year on defense. But its hard to advance to the Super Bowl, without some combination of: 1. Elite DLine play/player 2. Elite secondary OR 3. Combination of a very good Dline and secondary Closest we were to any of above, was 2020- with a great secondary. Injuries, poor personell decisions, and poor game mgt have contributed-be nice if we actually can find #3 above this year.

3964 California Avenue, orchard park I've never parked there, but as mentioned by @Mango its a hike for some. Maybe 1 mile walk, if you walk the road and don't cut through any paths that used to be there (not sure if those still exist). In general, not blaming those that park where they do, but the foot traffic to all these "pop up lots"/yard parking, has what's really slowed down car traffic post game from the Lot 1s/7s (since the new stadium build).

Appreciate the analysis and in depth, BUT... all that really matters is winning and losing. Its not about who found 3 all pro players, or who drafted better, its about the "organization"...team building philosophy to coaching to player development to player progression to on field results. Point is, I don't put anything solely on Beane. He's clearly a big part of putting together an extremely successful franchise. This organization needs a defensive reset, from mentality to personell. Im glad theyve seemed to address both this offseason, via coaching additions, what appears to be some X/Os changes to more man, and player investments in FA and draft. You don't win championships by having just a great offense. The defense has to be more than capable of holding its own when it matters most. Championship caliber has been lacking on defense, which is a problem for a defensive minded head coach and what im sure led to the draft we just witnessed. My opinion, we have the right leaders at GM, coaching etc. We need to change this philosophy that the Dane Jackson and Damar Hamlins of the world can be starters for this team....just two examples of what we've tried to get away with -- soft zone and Mahomes is going to eat that alive in playoffs, with Reids coaching. We need legit starting caliber players....my rant is over, because im glad Beane addressed most-- safety to me is still a glaring issue, that can't be hidden come playoffs unless Bishop becomes a stud.

Just speaking for myself, I have a 2.5hr+ drive back to Pittsburgh...otherwise yeah, an extra 45 and a 15 min drive home would be perfect

NFL counting on Rodgers to Steelers....be a Fields vs Rodgers switching teams game. We will open the season vs 2 of the most mobile QBs in the NFL. That works to our benefit for scheming/preparation leading into season.
-
In what will be one of the most physical games of the season, I'd rather play them early on TBH. We saw what happened when we trotted into their house with backups on defense. Going to be a tough game regardless. Primetime at home week 1 is a big advantage.

You do you, Peter

Aside from "sizing up Dalton Kincaid", and now "this"....Im starting to recognize a pattern of behaviour...

Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy

Jones is the one id consider "iffy". Nothing about how he finished the season gives me hope he will contribute alot this year. All depends on how Carter and Walker look at camp too. Daquan looked done last year, if he declines in camp + 2 aforementioned players prove to be ready, then that 5th DT will be a placeholder/Prac Squad callup if needed for week 1-6. -
I am in Lot 1... Pros: 1. Tailgate/atmosphere 2. Short walk on fan path to stadium Cons: 1. Just 1 but its the worst.. traffic leaving stadium is HORRIBLE. Unless you leave game early, plan to be sitting in that for 45 min+ before even getting out to the road I've not parked in 7 b4, but assume traffic is impacting everyone.

Heck, why stop there.... 1. Skip your vacations, instead watch a destination YouTube video 2. Sell that car, and bike/walk everywhere 3. Avoid eating out, instead cook every meal Your choice, but let's not act like the prices are "out of control". 15% increase for me as a STH, which is well below the NFL norm. The last couple years, I go to half the games and the profit from selling the remainder, make the math basically a wash (less gas). With a strong team, that equation will continue to work at the new stadium- but that's not at all what I care about. Just pointing out, the "actual cost" even with the PSL, isn't out of control

A blocking WR with downfield ability- if healthy - isn't the latter, what everyone thought we missed in this draft? I still don't think Gabe signs, but if he does, then depth behind Keon and Palmer is helpful. Those will be our 2 downfield threats, and likely best blocking WR (other than Shakir). Wrs need to be an extension of the run game under Brady, and either WR4 or WR5 better be a consistent presence on special teams on gameday. I could see us keep 6 WRs and Moore is the weekly inactive.

Don't forget that Dawson Knox is plenty athletic. Just not as fluid/quick as Dalton

George Pickens Traded to the Cowboys
MasterStrategist replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Take the non- head cases off the list: Sanders and Wallace Add: Diontae Johnson and Martavius Bryant I'd add Plaxico didn't shake up the locker room, like Brown or Pickens. Steelers find talent, gotta give them thag, but they're the "all about me" WRs. Growing list recently. And their pick from Michigan LY, was just flat out lazy putting in the mental work. -
In that case, its a no brainer to me. Injuries happen at camp. Gabe at that price, even with his faults, is worth it.
-
He's not really a fit for what we're trying to be in the WR room --- "positionless". But he'd be our best blocking WR and a downfield threat still- at $6m or less its worth a shot

TJ Watt Speculation after Pickens trade (Nothing Official)
MasterStrategist replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
<1% chance he's traded IMO. Just from some media/close friends to the team here in Pitt -
George Pickens Traded to the Cowboys
MasterStrategist replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pickens wore out his welcome LY, with all his crazy and antics. This trade has been in the works for a while, hence the DK trade. Rodgers or not, Pickens was 1 foot out the door. Steelers would be better off tanking and finding a legit young QB. -
No stunt, genuine emotion from Beane - dude has a proven track record, who these 2 radio jocks again? Bills put this in the embedded, because Beane got ALOT of national media praise for handling like he did, and put these clowns in their place. Bills gonna support their GM, and how he handled himself - which is why they cut up so many national pundit takes on how good it was handled and we just don't see that competitive side of Beane come out in raw emotion like this much. Bills aren't about putting out a stunt/show of things- just digging for some explanation, when the most logical and simple one is that Beane is fed up of getting questioned about the WR room- when big picture is about scoring points, not how many TDs do your WRs account for.
