I hope you're wrong too. lol. Gore is a future hall of Famer, and I'm not going to pretend I know what he will do, but I doubt he does anything that crazy...would go against his character and attitude toward the game. No doubt Shady helped convinced him to come here. But this team and GM has a vision that helped too. Beane is a genius at gm speak. He doesn't make last minute decisions, this has been a strong possibility since last year

Exactly....I think Fairburn nailed it. My 2 cents: 1. shady still is above average, most elusive player we had...BUT 2. he didn't hit the tough 2, 3 or 4 yard runs anymore. it was either dance and get 10 or dance/go down for a loss. more often taking the negative runs 3. yes. last year's online sucked. but it was chris ivory. who was put in instead of shady at times and had better success...ie: 2 or 3 yard runs are sometimes a success on 1st down 4. shady has never played second fiddle and was likely to be a huge distraction if he wasn't the #1 or had to share carries. 5. gore provides a better version of "ivory", and mentor-wise is the best their is. 6. singletary might not be the second coming of Shady. but at this point in their respective careers, it's not far apart. 7. finally, financial wise. and I put this last because I think that's where it fell on the decision process. shady is no cheap commodity. which also hindered his trade market. I'm sure.

Team chemistry matters. ALOT. And that's what is being highlighted here, not a 4-0 preseason.

It is up to Wade at this point, as I'm sure buffalo would love to get him as a practice squad exemption. It's pretty simple, Wade can gamble on himself and hope he at leasts cracks a 10 man practice squad and best gets promoted during 2019 to a 53. In order for this to happen. Bills must cut him but Buffalo loses their free exemption...so a gamble if buffalo would even sign him to practice squad. Ball is in Wade's court

Wyatt Teller traded to Browns
MasterStrategist replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beane gave an interview during the 3rd quarter his comments were interesting: 1. a few teams have been calling about Bills o line, who is available etc 2. Beane said teller took the news well 3. Beane almost said that Teller would be cut anyhow. before backtracking and saying he'd be a 53 man roster consideration 4. Beane made it very clear that Teller was "not progressing" as quickly as expected when OTAs and as the offseason has played out 5. Beane said the mix of "vets" (namely Morse. Feliciano. and Nsheke on o line) and younger players is what they're trying to instill to help the younger players progress and learn (sounded like a kick in the pants to young guys on how to grow into an NFL player) 6. Beane also said that Tyler Kroft is progressing very well, expects him to be on 53 man roster without an injury designation...and back playing in the 1st half of season) -

Agree completely, Gano a 2018 pro bowler coming off injury or an unknown, who is young showing potential (and much cheaper) -

Agree, this Slye kid has impressed at Carolina camp the past 2 weeks.... I think he is a legitimate option for us/others. Plenty of recent seasons where teams dump their kicker for a complete unknown -

Slye also went 3 for 3 last week against Chicago, including a 50+ yarder...going to predict right now he is someone's week 1 starting kicker -

Doesn't have to be Slye, but you can't ignore that Hauschka has struggled and just doesn't look like himself (following his injury last year). On top of that, our staff just spent 3 days with Carolina and plenty of opportunity to review Slye at practice -

Like many have said, it's nice to have a young up and coming starting QB, in addition to what's looking like a great backup situation with Barkley -

Watch for us to keep an eye on Slye, Panthers 2nd string kicker.....hauschka just doesn't look like himself...injury/age -

Good to see Shaq making some plays, but will trust Frazier and others who have said Murphy looks like a different player this year. Time will tell, but we have some depth at that position if Hughes stays healthy -

Lol, way to go Murphy...that defensive end position group is DEEP -
I agree that Dimarco has to show value to the staff, but team chemistry has to be considered in that equation, which I'm sure the coaches will. I respect a lot of your posts, so you don t need a lecture from me about leadership. It's just that we lost OUR biggest leader in Kyle, still have Zo but could use all the help we can get in that dept, with so many new faces...but again without sacrificing a roster spot for a starter/future starter

My last post here, until we get into training camp or season...but ill just leave this here. Again, you required above saying theboijnt of this thread was to have an open discussion about how the off-season COULD impact Zay, yet you made a prediction and say it's not about being right or wrong. Well to me it is, when someone calls out a player that won't be making the roster, that I think is on the upswing. so yes, we share a vastly different opinion on the player. If I say, I bet Trump is going to be impeached, then I continue to discuss his merits to not lead the country and support it with my opinion, but then say the purpose of the whole conversation was to discuss other potential future presidents...i would imagine most ppl would be holding on to my comment about trump being impeached. just an analogy, nothing more...but this was my basis for continuing to bring up the title. carry on, see you again in August September, back here

Gunner's Roster Thread 2019
MasterStrategist replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree about Zay over foster, both are locks in my opinion. Zay might be the most controversial player, from a fan perspective on this team.....some think he's fighting for a roster spot, and others (like myself) think he's on the verge of something special. I'd also consider Spencer Long ahead of Spain, injury aside. I think he wins a starting guard spot, and brings more versatility in the event of injuries up front -
It's not title policing. It's a group, or a few according to you, that have called you out for your ownn"calling it now", then litetally two pages ago (i can dig up your post if you want), said that "zay may very well make the roster....". Then a couple posts later, comment that it's only spring "running around and catching passes in shorts", then say, "you don't care if you're right, but don't want anyone calling you out later" if you're wrong.....color me dumb, but that sounds like waffling at its finest. Here is the long and short of a 50 page thread of quotes from you: 1. you thought Zay was borderline Peterman like his rookie year 2. you downplayed his year 2 improvement 3. you said he disappeared in 10 of 16 games last season 4. etc I can appreciate that you've tried to support your opinion. Now I for one thought it was a crazy statement to make, he was our top WR last season and had been praised by coaches and teammates numerous times. But, beyond all that, you've insisted this isn't about being right or wrong. And I say it is, when you make any sort of prediction...that is why we keep pointing out your thread title! Look, I'll be back either way to revisit this thread come week 1 and during training camp. I want the best team on the field too, but I'm convinced that will include Zay Jones. and I'm also not afraid if someone wants to call me out on being wrong later on (unlike some).... Title police is funny.... I'll be back, go zay

Very well put! and not to pile on, Alpha, but this is exactly what I and others have been trying to say for pages and pages of posts. Foxx worded this very clearly. @Alpha, hopefully that clarifies what others have said about: 1. thread title being misleading, click bait 2. waffling, covering your bases, or back pedaling Please answer, is this thread meant to say: 1. Zay isn't going to make the team, bc of merit, being traded, etc OR 2. Added WR competition will make for difficult roster decisions Or both? I'll speak for myself when I say that I'm very confused still
